Fascinating to hear the same story from to different perspectives. I agree with Hanna's point that empathy is needed so that we don't further alienate people. I think that's what's needed more.Jack could still receive empathy while we acknowledge that what he did was wrong. If anything, just to not discourage him from taking the right path. I guess what I'm saying is that we need to always leave room for redemption. I believe this is necessary if we want to cultivate a civilized society.I don't think we have (or ever had) an excess of empathy. Certainly not for children, who we still treat with great disrespect.
