Hearing title "Yar's revenge" brings back a lot of great memories. Playing the atari 2600 at my parents cabin (we always had a couple older systems at the cabin). I dont remember the first game I played, but Yar's has got to be close. I still remember passing the controller between me and my older brothers (quite a bit older) and wondering... even at a young age... what is the plot? Having never read the manual (But enjoying regardless).

There's no other podcast that goes as in-depth and as wide-ranging on games as this one. They really drill down into the most interesting things about games and the wider culture surrounding them.

Great host, fun guests, going back into deep discussions about games that deserve to be revisited. Keep up the good work!

Listening to this podcast makes me feel like I'm pulling up a chair near a fireplace with Red and his guest(s), sipping on scotch as I listen to them deconstruct a video game from different viewpoints. If I actually was, I probably wouldn't be listening to this while driving to work each week. (PSA: Don't drink and drive, people!) Sometimes they wax deep and philosophical, and other times (more often) they get goofy and start doing accents. Either way, you can certainly tell that this podcast and the site that Red curates is a labour of love for video games and what they mean to all of us nerdy-folk. Give Mage Cast a listen, and enjoy a magical dissection of some of our favorite games.

Awesome. I particularly enjoyed your Symphony of The Night podcast and the very latest one - now I am much more certain than ever as to which Atari 2600 games I’ll be getting to start my collection with?

I love Mage Cast because the conversations give me the same vibes as hanging out with my friends and having late night discussions. The episodes are fairly long and cover a lot of the minutiae and more nuanced details of a topic that you don't always get from shorter podcasts.

Great stuff! Gets some really cool guests on and asks really good questions!
