Mother's Day can be a tricky day for some of us.... I don't have a healthy relationship with my own mother and so I know how triggering this day can feel. In the past; I hated the holiday because it was a constant reminder that I didn't have the kind of relationship I wanted.... it would trigger negative feelings around unworthiness and feeling unwanted. I felt jealous of my friends who had great relationships and I would try hard to see if I could reciprocate the same thing with my mother - and it just didn't happen.

For those of you; who have difficult relationships with your mother figure - I wanted to share this episode with you. This is the first Mother's Day where I felt no negative feelings at ALL. I only felt gratitude for what we shared but also pride for my ability to set healthy boundaries for us both.

It took me SIX years to get to this place - and I'm hoping it won't take you that long.
