Utterly different and utterly fascinating! Wonderfully written and wonderfully acted! A real pleasure! Simply brilliant!
Our Fair City is one of the most amazing podcasts I've ever listened to. What starts of as a whimsical serio-comedy set in an oppressive corporate dystopia quickly becomes a commentary on the temporary whims which drive arbitrary bureaucracies, the callousness of corporate life, and what it means to be a human in the midst of it all. It would be easy to make the heroes of Our Fair City upstanding paragons of moral virtue when the evil of HartLife ((all the life you'll ever need)) is so pervasive, but each of the characters are by turns heroic, pathetic, and heartbreaking; several of them are in fact guilty of war crimes. The final season of the show had me weeping openly in public as I listened to it. Truly a masterclass of what audio drama can be.
Amazing show. Incredible sound design.
Didn't hold my interest. Well produced, stuff went down, but not told in a way that grabbed me. Stopped after season 2.
I've reached season 3 now and love this podcast. Great acting! Neal Henderson is the most irritating protagonist ever, but otherwise the story is lots of fun!
In love with this podcast from start to finish. Awesome foley, great comedy, and characters I *still* quote to this day. An absolute delight of a ride, cannot recommend enough.
Followed it to the end.It grabbed me from the start and bever let go.Was sad to see it go.But the whole story from start to finish was happy, sad, elating and maddening throughout.Would recommend to anyone.
Though it's a scary place, Our Fair City has some very entertaining stories to tell.It makes me laugh, cry, scared, intrigued, a bit sick to my stomach - and hooked!
Quirky just the way I like it. Cool world-building. Keeps me listening.
Love love love LOVE this show so much!! I have listened through this show in its entirety.... too many times (that's a lie, there's no such thing), and every single time I do it's just as good (maybe even better!!) than the first time. The care and love that has clearly gone into this podcast, the years of work and dedication that made it what it is, I appreciate every bit of it so very much! 10/10 there are so many things in this show that have made me laugh, cry, and gasp over and over, and I absolutely can't recommend it enough. (And I do recommend it. Every time someone asks me for a podcast rec.)
I almost didn’t get through Season 1, but I stuck with it and am glad I did. Our Fair City is the story of an apocalyptic world, ravaged by climate change, and focuses on the policies – err people (and Mole People) – of HartLife who go from being completely controlled by the Company to fighting for their rights and freedoms. At first, for me, there was just too much going on at one time, but towards Season 3 everything started to fall in to place and I couldn’t turn away. I had to know how the story would end, though didn’t want it to end either. There are many characters being juggled throughout the story but none of them feel like they don’t belong, and most of them are allowed to develop over time in the best and worst (of course there are villains) ways. The voice actors play some of the most fun characters I’ve heard in a while. I think Dr. West (or Herbert, as he prefers to be called) is my favorite character voice-wise. I love how he goes through a wealth of emotions, octaves, and bliss brought on by SCIENCE(!). Though he is my personal favorite, the other characters are done well too. //Somewhat unrelated side note, I learned today that their website also has digital comics related to the story on it. If you’re in to comics and enjoy the story I’d suggest looking in to those as well//
