Palimpsest is a show that stays with you for a long while after listening. It's a very quiet, calm, subtle ghost story that doesn't quite hit you until a few episodes in and you realise you're completely hooked on the story. And then you reach Season 2...Palimpsest is one of the most intriguing audio dramas I've heard, I can't recommend it enough.
Oh my, I don't know why I never reviewed Palimpsest but wow I love this series! I just got caught up to the new season and Cannot wait to hear about the rest of the story. Each season is self contained and plays out in the same house as it appears at different times (or realities). All of them are ghost stories in some way (season 2 is more of a fairy tale). All of them are bittersweet, spooky and incredibly well written
One of my faves... each standalone season is perfectly crafted.
PalimpsestThank you!
Gothic, atmospheric, psychological anthology fiction fans, this one is 100% gonna be for you. The story is very much a slow burn tale of Anneliese being haunted by the memories of the house, but also bringing her own haunting to the house. Horror stories like this need to be threaded so carefully--they have to keep that slow simmer at just the right level to feel like it could bubble over at any moment, and they have to know when to let it loose. Palimpsest knows what its doing, and rest assured you’re in good hands--trust these fantastic creators. As mentioned, its an anthology series, with a different setting and protagonist each season (season two is set in the 19th century, season three during the Blitz in London), with a common thread connecting them all, so choose what appeals to you!
I listened to the entirety of the first season in one sitting as it gripped me right from the start. The subtle use of score coupled with the fabulous narrative makes the story truly come alive. If you want to feel that shudder down your spine that only the best horror can give, then definitely check this podcast out.
I loved the first two seasons of this, and can't wait to start the third. The stories are imaginative, well-researched, and brilliantly plotted - and the delivery is sensitive and engaging. Also love that haunting music, and the effective minimal way it's used to dramatically heighten parts of the story.
This story has creeps and chills, but it's really more of a slow, thoughtful experience that assembles itself over time. This allows the characters to become the focus: their struggles and memory become the center of the story. Simple in a good way, drawing the listener in on a personal level.
I like it , get onto it 👍🏼
Like a ghost (no pun intended...), this podcast stays with you. Hauntingly beautiful.
Compelling ghost story.
I thought this show was just okay at first, but it has grown on me. The first season was pretty decent. While I didn't care for the ramblings about Claire, the rest of the plot was just weird and interesting enough to keep me listening.Season 2 was a much more compelling story. There was a lot more action and suspense compared to the quiet horror of the first season. This is the show at its best, in my opinion.Season 3 is off to a good start, but I'm not liking it as much as season 2 so far. I'm hoping it will wow me in later episodes.
Try out this show if you like creepy stories, haunted houses, ghosts and dealing with a difficult past.
A very good anthology, really good horror!
'Palimpsest' is a horror / dark fantasy podcast, but not one relying on terror or gore. All of its stories are the vein of a classic spooky ghost story, in which the slow revelation of the truth is what horrifies and saddens the listen. Very well made and well-acted, with a real sense of the time periods in which the different stories are set. Recommended.
An interesting and dark series of stories, I really do enjoy.
Literally just found this one out yesterday. I'm already up to date with it and need MORE.
Not crazy exciting, slow burn, but interesting enough. Liked season 1 better than 2. Really wanted a psychological thriller, but it's not that at all.Update 8/13/21 - not psychological or horror. Wasn't crazy about season 3, and got to season 4 episode 4 before deciding to call it quits. I'm looking for binge worthy, hard to stop stuff. This doesn't have enough going on to keep me.
