In this episode, Sara has a conversation with her Aunt Denise a  Licensed Mental Health Therapist in the State of Florida. They discuss all things finding a therapist that will work for you.

 They discuss:

3 key components to saying yes to a therapist, Trusting your gut to decide if they are a good fit, knowing your boundaries, and having an understanding of what results you would like.

The importance of being a part of your treatment plan, ensuring that your therapist understands the timeline you can afford, and if you would like tools and resources,

Therapy is for you, but feeling comfortable and connected with your therapist is key. On initial appointment, share as much as you are comfortable sharing, but you can also ask questions about the therapist's credentials, specialties,

Be open to what you may hear, be open to seeing things differently, be open to releasing old thought patterns, be open to healing from the inside out, be open to emotion, be open to hope. If you are ready to rise from the darkness, it is much easier with a non-judgemental ear by your side to guide you along.

Therapist red flags: Trust your gut always, if they disclose too much personal information, you feel despair more than you feel hope. Some sessions will be hard, but you should start to feel hope within the first few. Know that you can always switch therapists at any time!

Sara highly recommends taking notes as you listen to this episode. These tactics can apply to not only choosing a therapist but anyone you are sharing personal experiences with.

 Meet  Denise:

Denise is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in the state of Florida. When she decided to become a therapist in her 40s everyone that knew her said, "finally!" She says that her career in therapy started at age 3 when she would line her dolls up on the sofa and help them through their troubles. Denise has become passionate about counselling and the connection between therapist and client. As she believes that a successful experience is dependent on the trust connection between client and therapist. Denise truly believes in the power of therapy in guiding individuals through the darkness into the best versions of themselves.

Meet Sara:

Sara is the founder of Sara Hope Podcast Productions, Host of Path to Me Podcast, and author. After being diagnosed with a learning disability at a young age, Sara began hiding from the world, afraid of not being capable or worthy of achieving her dreams. After realizing her worth, Sara now knows how competent she is. Sara now genuinely believes she can live the life of her dreams, that it was only herself that was holding her back. She has made it her mission to inspire others to overcome the fear of others' judgment but mostly themselves. To ultimately show up as their true selves and live the life of their dreams.
