In this episode, Donna grew up in a blended family and at 14 years of age, she was hurt and became pregnant. Donna shares her journey of becoming a mom at 15 years of age and how she learned to work through the low self-esteem and shame that came with becoming a mom at such a young age.

  1. The events of the past do not have to define the future that I get to have. Donna shares her thought that your past can even be just 5 minutes ago. You can learn to recognize and make a different choice and choose a different path.
  2. She shares how she learned that her emotions are not a part of her identity because she is bigger than her emotions. The difference between "I'm sad" and "I am feeling sad". Recognizing that something needs attention and that she gets to choose who she wants to be while dealing with the emotion she is feeling in the moment.
  3. The main thing that helped Donna through becoming a young mom was her relationship with God. She truly believes that if she did not have that relationship she would not be the person that she is today.
  4. While being hidden from the world throughout her pregnancy Donna developed a relationship with God that existed outside of religion.
