So very smart with their story selection. They obviously take great care in what they decide to present, and they always do it well. One of my favorites, I look forward to their new posts every week.
PseudoPod is a brilliant horror anthology podcast, with outstanding stories and an impressive back catalogue. Because it's so varied with different authors and voice actors, picking a favourite is hard but Trowel, Brush, Bones by Audrey Hollis (episode 779) really stood out. That's probably because it related to archaeology, but importantly it tells a story with important resonance in the real world.I especially like that after each story the host takes a few minutes to talk about the episode. It adds an extra dimension to the episode and helps you think about the story in a different way.
I love the variety of voices the stories present. There's obviously a common thread of the eerie/horror, but how the stories are told differ from author to author, and voice actor to voice actor. And while not every tale is for everybody, there's more than enough here to find a large collection of favorites that chill you, and make you think.
Love the show. Great selection of authors and narrators.
An excellent horror podcast. I love the stories and the commentary at the end.
PsedoPod is like the creepy old house at the end of your block: it's been there so long and scared so many people that it's really just a part of the scenery at this point. Still, it's worth journeying in and seeing why the neighborhood kids still dare each other to spend the night. The strength of PseudoPod isn't just in the quality of the editorial staff or the skill of the narrators but in the sheer passion that host Alisdair Stuart has for Horror as a genre. If you're looking for well curated literary horror, look no further - you'll be set for pretty much forever, with the backlog of fiction PseudoPod has built up over the years. Personally, this is one of those shows that changed my life. I still think about stories I've heard on PseudoPod, and I likely always will.
Great host and narrations, with the host giving great reflections on the stories afterwards. Worth a listen.
PseudoPod is probably the best horror podcast out there, a wide variety of stories are told, and that makes it difficult to rate it as a whole - since the subjective opinion on the individual stories will vary greatly.Regardless of variations in quality between the stories themselves, the production is amazing, no "jumpscares" or creepypastas here, but well written horror brought to life by very competent voice actors. I've made contact with mythologies I didn't know existed, cultural aspects I had no idea varied so greatly from my own and so many facets of life turned into portals of horror. If you love horror, this a podcast you truly need in your life!
Really fantastic selection of tales of terror with insightful commentary from the hosts. I would argue that you aren't a full connoisseur of audio horror fiction if Pseudopod isn't on your podcast rotation. You won't regret giving it a listen.
