This episode is enlightening. Comedian Will Hines does something impressive—he presents a very clear, specific example of what's harder about being a man, and he explains exactly what men are useful for. In many ways, this is exactly what I'm seeking with this whole season, and he manages to do it in a way that's 0% obnoxious. He talks about learning from his mistakes, being called out, and the trouble with men who identify as "nice guys." We also discuss Larry David and why he should be a liberal positive masculine icon. Will is both wise & hilarious, you're going to love this ep!

Raising Questions

Raising Questions is the podcast in which I raise some questions about why we live the way we do. Season 1 was about how and why people choose to become or not become parents. It seems like once someone becomes a parent, it was an inevitability - that's who they were always meant to be. But that can't possibly be true, can it? And if not, what happens in the several years before someone makes that choice?I wanted to to explore what it’s like to experience both the ticking of a biological clock and indecision about having children - especially now that we as a society are having children later. My curiosity extends beyond the children themselves - I want to know the cost of uncertainty for both those who do and do not have kids. In this season, I ask people who spent their 30s undecided about kids how that uncertainty affected their lives. What choices did they make when they wanted to leave open the door to two wildly different realities? What forces pushed them in one direction or the other? Did they ever impulsively buy a crib on Craigslist, reasoning they could use it for pilates if they ended up childless, or was that just me? In season 2, I'm taking on Positive Masculinity. What does it mean? Is there hope for it? Are men in trouble, and can they fix their own problems? To start, I do the unthinkable and sit my male friends down to ask what's actually hard about being a man. They are extremely resistant—but I learn a lot. After that, I get into talking to experts. It's fascinating and honestly has blown my mind. You can find more information here: https://ginnyhogan.substack.com/
