RATING
This show is truly wonderful in every sense. I'm not usually into superheroes, but this show is refreshingly different. Especially with a cast much more diverse in gender and race, which I really enjoy. The production, acting, sound and music is just great as Is the writing with a rich detailing that creates wonderful pictures in my mind. The characters are both relatable and likeable, and Jordan's voice is really pleasant to listen to. Don't miss out on this show!
I tried this twice and put it down twice. What bugs me is I find Jordan too perfect. It feels like everything is handed to him. He starts out with so many advantages (Exhibit A: at 4 years old, he's so intellectually precocious, he reads Sherlock Holmes, Exhibit B: Not just inherited Batman wealth but superpowers as well) and makes so few mistakes that he's a boring invincible Gary Stu of a hero that just strikes me as unbearably smug. Compound this with the flippant use of sexual violence to woobify Jordan, not the victim (What happens to Dean is rape but it's treated like a minor roadblock to their magical love story. Inclusive of that, there are at least 3 instances of rape/mind controlled sex that just never get dealt with in any capacity) and I found myself disappointed in and disgusted by the show.
