RATING
The podcast Serial investigates actual criminal and legal cases in a serialized style. The podcast's third season, which debuted in 2018, departed from the first two by concentrating on Cleveland, Ohio's criminal justice system. Serial season 3 received generally favorable reviews, with many complimenting the podcast's in-depth examination of the criminal justice system and the numerous characters involved. The podcast received praise for its thorough reporting, gripping narrative, and capacity to bring light on the complicated problems faced by both individuals accused and those charged with upholding the law.In the first episode of Serial Podcast Season 3, host Sarah Koenig takes on the criminal justice system in Cleveland, Ohio. Koenig explores the shortcomings and difficulties of the legal system via the tale of Emmanuel "Manny" Balestrero, who was accused of assault following a brawl in a pub. In order to shed light on topics like bail, racial inequities, and the difficulties experienced by both prosecutors and defense attorneys, Koenig deftly weaves together interviews with those who are involved in the criminal justice system in this episode, which is a great start to the season. Koenig discusses difficult subjects in a way that is understandable to listeners, which makes her investigative reporting both educational and interesting. The episode's emphasis on the usage of bail is particularly effective since Koenig shows how the high cost of bail may result in pretrial incarceration and other unfavorable effects, especially for defendants with modest incomes. Considering the manner in which the justice system might disproportionately affect persons of color, Koenig demonstrates the importance of the racial inequities. Ultimately, this episode prepares viewers for Serial's upcoming season, which promises to be perceptive and thought-provoking. It's certain to be a must-listen for anybody interested in topics of criminal justice and social injustice because of Koenig's keen analysis and fascinating narrative.
Very well covered. The young woman was sexually harassed, victimized and heated, had her glasses removed so a girl could stomp her face. They don't call any medical for her just make her sit in a cruiser for over an hour for her defensive flailing accidentally making contact with a policeman? And she feels it's her fault for being there. That's what's wrong with society. Victim blaming.
