Fundação Serralves
SOLE - Serralves Online Experience has its first incursion in podcast transmissions with #PERISCOPE, a program of half-hour episodes released every two weeks and accessible on Serralves' social networks.
The periscope is an optical device equipped with reflecting mirrors or prisms which allow the observation of materials and actions located outside the visual field of the observer. It was this operating principle that inspired the title of a new series of online publications, inaugurating Serralves' approach to the podcast format.
#PERISCOPE proposes listening journeys guided by readings, notes or references that inhabit more peripheral or even marginal places when compared to more visible dimensions of artists, curators or researchers’ practices such as works and other public manifestations.
In #PERISCOPE we are given access to appointed choices relating to tastes, habits, gestures, personal influences and inspirations. They take a voice in this podcast. The possibilities for sound and hearing to reveal what you don't see resonate with periscopic capabilities, infiltrating these voices that reach us, penetrating textual transmissions and aural impressions.
#PERISCOPE wants to take a peek and allow us sightings of a bit more personal corners in the worlds of the invited authors, flashing lights in spots belonging to the intimacy of their creativity, intellectuality and sensitivity. Simultaneously, it offers glimpses of the audio recordings archive of concerts and performances which took place in Serralves over the years.
So, choose a place that you like and where you feel comfortable. Save 30 minutes in your day and let our guests speak to you. This will be an exercise in proximity but also a proposal to slow down in the face of our hectic and disruptive daily lives.
PERISCOPE is organized by Serralves Performing Arts Department with half hour episodes every two weeks.
