Do you find yourself struggling with bitterness? Perhaps there's someone in your life that you just can't seem to muster the thoughts of forgiveness let alone actually putting forth the energy to do so. In today's episode, we discuss the truth about bitterness. We explore what scripture says it does to us, and the power of a mustard seed to get it out of our life for good. Matthew 17:20,  “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”It is important to understand, Jesus is talking to his disciples about facing what seems impossible in life, and overcoming barriers.Luke 17:6, “And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.”Here Jesus is talking to them about Bitterness and Unforgiveness.Facts about the Sycamine:• This tree has a deep and intricate root system.• Its fruit is extremely bitter• It is not naturally pollinated• Its wood was preferred for making caskets.Compare this to what happens to us when we battle these feelings. How does the mustard seed fit?Matthew 13:31, “Jesus told the crowd another story. He said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. Someone took the seed and planted it in a field. It is the smallest of all your seeds. But when it grows, it is the largest of all garden plants. It becomes a tree. Birds come and rest in its branches.”A Word is planted, and the kingdom of God advances, and begins to grow.Powerful verses to remember when battling bitterness & unforgivenessMatthew 6:6, “when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”James 5:16, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”1 John 5:14, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”For the episode transcript click hereFor more visit she-chooses.comFollow on Instagram @jdhartzy
