I caught up to @sinkholepodcast on the day the finale dropped! It’s fresh, it’s self aware, it has existential dread in it- truly a great first season. So excited to see where this show is going.
After only 2 short episodes I am *deeply* invested in whateverthefuck is going on in this podcast. Creepy and strangely timely. I 100% recommend it for your listening needs.
SINKHOLEThank you so much for your vocal and enthusiastic support since the beginning, Scott!
This is a show that creeps up on you very slowly, while telling you it's GOING to creep up on you, but somehow you're still surprised when it does. Absolutely expert use of pacing and details revealed in passing to create both a character and setting you care deeply about, even though every episode changes your fundamental understanding of both. Also, it's really funny. To sum up: SINKHOLE is a cyberpunk-adjacent, SciFi-but-not-entirely, speculative future show for the terminally online. And there's a hole that yells. Very worth listening to.
In the past two years, I’ve discarded dozens of books/films/tv shows/podcasts because I couldn’t give them the focus they demanded. During that time, there have been a handful of things that I put to one side until I could give them the focus they *deserved*.Sinkhole is one of the latter.People with better taste than me have been raving about this podcast for months. They kept talking about how the worldbuilding, pacing and sound design sucked you into a story that was unsettling and funny in equal measure. And, like a fool, I put off listening until after the finale dropped. Which means I have now missed my chance to say, “I liked this before it was cool”. “Don’t fall into any holes” is a familiar refrain within the show. Well, I’m here to recommend you fall into this one particular hole. It might not be entirely safe, but I’m confident you won’t regret it.
Who knew data restoration could be so perplexing? Well, maybe it's more abnormal what one can uncover about an unfamiliar past in the unfamiliar future. Definitely a unique look at online communities, bizarre phenomena, and not so outlandish conspiracies.
Sinkhole is an amazing short-form sci-fi/cyberpunk series about a not too distant future after The Sink, you get dropped right into the fiction and the world emerges around you with expertly crafted audio posts on a data restoration forum that reveal the world around you.Season 1 just wrapped up as of the writing of this review and it is very binge-able, if you like sci-fi and/or cyberpunk give this series a shot
A captivating future world presenting in a unique format. Sci-fi and mystery with found footage elements, I loved it, and I can't wait to see wait season 2 brings
I really enjoyed the offbeat pacing of this - like listening to a piece of music on an atypical rhythm. It's such a fun, cyberpunk twist on the classic 'using a recorder' audio drama framing device, and I loved how the protagonist became more and more nuanced and sympathetic throughout. Really reminds me of Within the Wires in the best way. Thank you for a great show!
SINKHOLEThank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying my little show!
Legendary sound design and world building. Highly recommended.
Perfectly captures the feeling of hobbyist forums, using the format to explore some innovative cyberpunk ideas.
The world that is revealed is wondrous and still relatable. What is this like? It's hard to say. Science fiction. Character study. Fantasy. I guess you'll find out soon enough...
The first season is amazing! The monologues are great! The second gets a little off topic, overly critical and the style of speaking does not lend itself to dialogue. But that's ok. It's a good listen.
One of my favorite shows of 2022. Brilliant cyberpunk concept. Deft sound design. And a clever and unique spin on the audio logs format. Listening to Sinkhole feels like you're digging back through a thread of old posts on some site because there's some new rabbit hole you've stumbled upon. It's incredible. Original. And it should be your next sci-fi obsession.
Very interesting concept. Masterfully edited. Looking forward to hearing the rest.
