If you don't have time for the entire series "Dolly Parton's America," this is an excellent alternative. Ideally, though, you would listen to this episode and then decide you *need* the series (it's only 9 episodes!).In this episode, Abumrad discusses Parton's songwriting craft with Nate and Charlie. This is different from the series, which focused more on how her music has both shaped and been shaped by American culture. So it's not a repeat of the material in the series, so much as a companion piece. Worth it, both in conjunction with Abumrad's series and as a stand-alone episode.Also, I could listen to "Jolene" all day long and never be bored. ;-)
