There is a story out there about Thomas Edison. Maybe you've heard it. In the story, he's sent home from school one day with a note for his mother. His mother tells him that the note says that he is too brilliant for school and that he needs to be homeschooled in order to reach his full potential. So, she takes on the role of his teacher and he thrives, eventually becoming an incredible inventor. But, it turns out, the note didn't actually say that – instead, the school considered him too stupid to be enrolled!
