On today's episode, Pamela and I discuss ways in which we can rid ourselves of automatic negative thoughts. We talk about how we can dismantle thoughts that keep us stuck by asking a series of questions. Part Two will go up on Wednesday. Enjoy!
We start by explaining what A.N.T.S. are. Automatic negative thoughts are thoughts that we all hold about ourselves, other people, our capabilities, and the world around us. We all have them. We all have some that are attached to our subconscious.
ANTS infiltrate our lives in many ways. Some of which are the way we view ourselves and the world around us. Our thoughts, ideas, and beliefs drive our behavior for better or worse, so it's important that we become aware of what they are.
We wanted to give 5 easy questions that you can ask yourself if you feel a negative thought is keeping you stuck. We start with the question: "Is the thought useful?" If it's not a useful thought and it's not moving us in the direction we'd like to go, we may need to abandon it.
The next two questions are:
"Is it true?"
"Is it kind?"
