Currently in Australia it is estimated that there are over 600,000 people living with an acquired brain injury with the majority made of people who have experienced a stroke or a traumatic brain injury. Strokes are causes by a bleed or a blockage to the brain blood supply while a traumatic brain injury is causes by an accident which results in force being applied to the head. At one end of the spectrum there are injuries such as concussion which as recently featured in the movie staring Will Smith. At the other are more severe injuries such as is believed to have happen to Michael Schumarker during as skiing accident. But whether an injury is mild, moderate or severe any head injury can have life long impact on the person and their family.

So what impact can it have on the individual and on their family. What can they expect on their road to recovery. To answer these questions and more we are joined by Jim Towers the Community Relations Manager from the Royal Rehab Centre, in Ryde.
