Hey folks, Lauren Chippin here with a brand
0:02
new podcast from yours truly. The
0:05
show is called Breaker Whiskey, and it releases
0:08
every weekday. That's right, every
0:10
day. I've been making audio
0:12
drama for a while now, and I wanted to challenge
0:14
myself to make an ongoing show that I didn't
0:17
have a perfect plan for, something
0:19
I could discover along the way. That's
0:22
what Breaker Whiskey is. Each episode
0:24
is under five minutes, and while I have
0:26
an idea of the larger story points, I
0:29
don't know exactly where the road will take me or what
0:31
will be at the end of it.
0:33
So what's it about? Well,
0:35
in 1968, two women find themselves
0:37
in rural Pennsylvania during what turns out to be
0:39
some kind of apocalyptic event. By
0:42
the time they discovered that everyone else has gone, it's
0:45
too late to figure out what happened. Despite
0:47
not liking each other at all, the women
0:49
work together to survive until six years
0:51
later, one of them sets out on her own, driving
0:53
around the country to find other survivors.
0:56
This is her story. Head
0:59
on over to Breaker Whiskey in your podcast app to subscribe,
1:01
and stick around right here to listen to the first episode.
1:04
This is Lauren, signing off.
1:10
Breaker, Breaker, Channel 19. Is
1:14
anyone reading? Breaker,
1:18
Breaker, this is Whiskey, um, oh
1:22
shi- Whiskey
1:26
Alpha Romeo, this is Whiskey Alpha
1:28
Romeo calling out. Once
1:33
again, that's Whiskey Alpha Romeo currently
1:35
along I-80. Breaker, Breaker.
1:47
You know, I just realized how bad those initials
1:49
are, but that's the
1:51
rule, right? W for east
1:53
of the Mississippi, which, isn't that
1:55
a bit backward? Shouldn't it be W for
1:57
west? Anyway.
2:00
W for East of the Mississippi plus the
2:03
initials of your name, but I mean
2:06
still war is a bit whiskey
2:09
I guess is okay.
2:11
That'd be the part of the call sign that everybody
2:13
in this area has so not
2:16
really specific.
2:21
Then again it doesn't seem like anyone
2:23
is here so no other W call
2:26
signs to mix me up with. So
2:29
if you are listening somehow
2:32
whiskey is
2:33
fine. I
2:38
don't have a number. I don't
2:42
technically have any kind of license actually
2:44
but
2:45
who would be giving them out right? I
2:48
mean in that case I
2:50
guess trying to stick to any kind of convention is
2:53
sort of pointless at this juncture
2:55
so I could have picked any old name but
2:59
I mean we all have to hold on to whatever bit
3:01
of structure we can to stay sane right?
3:03
And I
3:06
don't know I have the pamphlet for this thing and
3:09
it feels like I should follow it to the
3:11
letter. You
3:14
know this radio has been sitting
3:16
in our garage for five years and this is
3:18
the first time we've sent a signal out. I
3:21
mean we are remote yeah
3:24
but that doesn't mean that we couldn't...
3:30
Sorry not we the first time I've
3:32
sent a signal out.
3:34
Lord knows she never did either and
3:36
never will I mean I
3:38
doubt she'll even
3:40
notice that this is gone and
3:42
she certainly won't miss it. I mean she's not gonna miss any...
3:45
Anyway
3:50
here I am
3:52
clogging up the airwaves. I'm
3:55
pretty sure that's bad etiquette actually but if no
3:57
one's
3:59
listening...
3:59
there is no one to offend. So
4:05
anyway, like I said, Whiskey
4:08
Alpha Romeo along
4:11
I-80.
4:12
I'll stay on this frequency for the rest of the day.
4:14
Signing
4:16
off.
