A masterpiece. Ever so rarely, an audio drama comes around that shows everyone how it should be done. This show has mastered every aspect of its storytelling, From maintaining a propulsive tension that never lets up, to furnishing an elegant solution to a locked room mystery, to making sharp and precise commentary on how society keeps order, there's not a single misstep or shred of excess fat on this ambitious, virtuosic piece.
interesting story and place it piece-by-piece narration, i gave it 4 stars because of the tightness and structure this podcast has, even though the emotional bond to characters is lacking
This story rolls out really well over each episode. Each one gives you just a glimpse of what the larger story is. It goes from odd to very strange and then gets put together. The chronological back-and-forth was jarring at first, but when you get a sense of it, it works well for the story.
A true crime story set in a dystopian sci-fi future. Everything about this show is amazing: The writing, the acting, the way it slowly dawns on you what this is really about. And the end is mindblowing: Chocking, eye opening but also with a glimpse of hope. A true masterpiece. Best listened to all episodes back to back!
I very much enjoyed this story and the way it unfolded. A high concept slow burn which left me eager for more.
Good concept, interesting plot. I was a bit disappointed that everything wrapped so soon. Not sure if I will listen again, but really enjoyed listening overall.
This is a really intense science fiction audio drama that you won't be able to stop listening to, even from the trailer. The story is engrossing, and the production is absolutely flawless. Do yourself a favor: set aside an afternoon and dive right in.
Great mystery, with a tremendous payoff at the end. Well worth a listen!
Absolutley intriguing, great ending, loved it.
A well-paced locked room mystery that maintains tension and revealing enough information to keep the listener invested without becoming frustrated. Each episode focuses on a different character. Includes commentary on the prison system and its injustices without sugarcoating the crimes these characters committed.
Don't want to say too much about this gem of a show just give this a listen.
Very fun and easy to listen to, a bit confusing but yanno
Gripping and unsettling scifi, with a very unique concept. Best to go in blind as the mystery and slow reveal of what's going in is so central to the experience.
A good mystery series. Each episode goes into the history of a different character and it all ties nicely together at the end. I found myself hooked and wanting more, with each episode not being too long or too short.
Tightly written, well-paced - The Deca Tapes pulls you into its intrigue. Each episode focuses on a different person and it pulls together amazingly. I dropped one star because I wasn't invested in the characters. It was more the world and the mystery captured my imagination.
Amazing and creative storytellling. Full of mysterious and has an ending that I feel will leave listeners satisfied.
I lacked some charisma in characters however in general podcast was interesting. Nice concept, mystery in a mystery, backstories could've been improved also but nevertheless solid fiction.
Very original and engrossing story, told really well. Loved the format, makes for a much better (and clear) listening experience than a bunch of people talking over each other (and harder to overact this way).
I really loved this podcast and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a short podcast (it's only eight episodes long!) that will undoubtedly serve you a few surprising and horrifying twists. I'm giving it four stars simply because it doesn't quite live up to my favorites, but nonetheless, it's a high quality, unique podcast.
An eight part story that will keep you glued to your seat. This podcast came out of nowhere last year and blew my mind. It's a mystery that just gets deeper and more enthralling with each episode. If you have somehow missed this show up until now please drop everything and get on it. It will blow your mind in so many ways.
