Sally and I grew up in the Christian church. My family was deeply involved in Catholicism and she in the Protestant church. For each of us, church was a central part of our growing up experience. And just like so many millions of Americans we have had great difficulty remaining interested and engaged in our religious practice. We talk about our experiences, our regrets, disappointment and anger, and our hope for a better experience.
