While. You.

0:02

Were. Listening to the glass cannon that work

0:04

the for me a source for role

0:06

playing game entertainment. Last

0:11

week on the Glass Cannon podcast. I

0:13

won't. Let's take you back to the

0:15

room here and you're all you. You

0:17

said a watch and somehow this bird

0:19

just appeared to their beer because we

0:21

need to like and parents compared to

0:24

a map and compared to the diagram

0:26

out to her to hurt. Okay, yeah,

0:28

Interesting ideas. We should walk in that

0:30

direction. So would would are you up to now.

0:33

Still searching for your pockets. I should

0:35

warn you many people have search for

0:37

those pockets in those type of the

0:39

people that but don't come back. While

0:42

we're walking, Asta. Had

0:44

clearly noticed that Sapper was

0:46

grabbing the the earning. She

0:48

says i know what you're

0:51

thinking. I

0:53

didn't kill your friend. It's

0:55

not just your fall, it's all of

0:57

our faults. I mean, that whole situation

0:59

was a mess. I failed. We all

1:02

failed. You compare your

1:04

drawing your memory of the the

1:06

the bird but the general feeling

1:08

is nine pm ish and a

1:11

route ah I can be be

1:13

there look at this is back

1:15

to leave you come back at.

1:19

Night. When you were

1:21

when of a sudden. You see,

1:25

The. Air lock her

1:27

ripped open like

1:29

a curtain. We

1:32

don't know how I'm going to be open. You know, Go.

1:34

We won't know. You're all coming

1:36

to us to stay close.

1:38

Boggles, All of us stay

1:41

close. Well, we've all pass

1:43

through one kind of forty

1:46

shower, a scowl yeah, Brother

1:48

Ramius looks back town watches

1:50

all of them pass through.

1:53

Keep her kindness. Slips

1:56

through the venture

1:58

to. Now.

2:41

What about? It. I'm glad.

2:44

podcast. I hesitate to bring this

2:46

up. Before recorded last episode I was talking

2:48

with every one of my we should talk

2:50

about their said you guys were this The

2:52

chatter on the table was like may we

2:54

shouldn't and so then I waited a week

2:57

as I'm going to talk about it now

2:59

and I still think it's a bad time

3:01

to talk about it but I do want

3:03

to talk about your impressions of the advances

3:05

of thus far and the resort to bring

3:07

up as I know Joe doesn't care for

3:10

it. Doesn't

3:13

understand. English

3:16

that. I feel

3:18

very attacked by Kenny. Not

3:21

knowing staff stop telling me what I

3:23

need to do. What? Oh this is

3:26

why hates like David wounds in my

3:28

twenties thought that to the freaks them

3:30

out Mckinsey camp concretely hold it in

3:33

his hands. He. Says he

3:35

hates it for a month. For fantasy

3:37

nerd, you are very logos censored. Is.

3:39

Rude Boy. What Is that? Me: Become

3:42

a job. That's awesome

3:44

one and I will let slip feel

3:47

about the show. Thought about Fathers' Rights

3:50

or for a soda this week on

3:52

the Battlers His heir. Of

3:55

civilians had arrived. No serious. And

4:00

Amy is could use some work. Yeah.

4:03

Well, what are your objections? Yeah. Could

4:05

you explain your objections? My

4:07

objections are not have nothing to do. I try

4:09

to like, I'm trying to meditate on this. I've

4:11

been trying for weeks and weeks to think about

4:13

this. And

4:15

it is not that it's a gate walkers issue.

4:18

It's really more of I'm trying to wrap my

4:20

head around mystery role playing,

4:22

right? Because there's a real,

4:25

I think a problem here that I'm trying

4:27

to figure out how to solve,

4:29

so to speak, which is that like, it

4:32

is written in such a way that if you don't

4:35

roll the dice exactly how they are

4:37

supposed to be rolled, you have to

4:39

fudge it and just give the players

4:41

the answer. And other

4:43

stories don't have that because they don't have

4:45

mysteries, but mysteries are awesome. So

4:47

it's like, it's, I'm trying to wrap

4:49

my head around these super, super complicated,

4:52

vague, high level mysteries that we're going

4:54

after. And the players

4:56

all kind of fumbling. Sorry. The

4:59

characters all kind of,

5:02

I don't like, I don't like it.

5:04

I don't mind if my character falls

5:07

on his face and dies. I've

5:09

come to grips with that over the years. What

5:13

I don't like is a constant

5:16

reminder that my character and all

5:18

the other characters don't know anything,

5:21

you know, and like, and that they're stupid. And

5:23

they can't figure it out. And

5:25

that's why I said it's not a gate walkers issue. It's

5:28

an overall issue. I sit there when I'm running

5:30

a Delta Green game and I think, oh man,

5:32

if they would just look at every

5:35

piece of evidence that's here, it's all

5:37

there. It's all there. But

5:40

it never gets solved by players because

5:42

it is so complicated to

5:45

solve. I think one issue you may

5:47

be having is you're working under the

5:49

assumption that you should know more. And

5:53

that's a great Delta Green thing that I've tried to

5:55

like, transmit to the players. My

5:57

concern here is not getting answers in

5:59

gate walkers. walkers for me to

6:01

be honest, it's more about can something

6:03

happen? It feels to me like it's

6:06

dragging. Like you know what I mean? I'm like

6:08

I some of these scenes are very interesting

6:10

where there's like a conversation

6:13

with an NPC and you're trying

6:15

to plumb for information. You're interrogating

6:18

a witness kind of thing and those

6:20

scenes can be kind of cool. But when at the end of

6:22

all of that you learn

6:24

nothing, you know, it's it's it's frustrating.

6:27

And it's like that's happening over and over and over.

6:29

Now, there's a big breakthrough last week. So

6:31

I'm very excited to be where we are

6:33

right now. This might be the rare case

6:35

for the characters no more than the players.

6:38

Basically 20 minutes all of us trying to

6:40

explain the first world to Joe before he

6:42

went on the air. But can I actually

6:44

offer an endorsement of your endorsement with a

6:46

complication and then a rebuttal if I might.

6:48

Sure. So the endorses I think you're

6:50

kind of like zeroing

6:52

in on a central tension of mystery role

6:55

playing which is that we're

6:57

being presented with clues but we're not scripted. So

6:59

the character we don't. Yes. You're

7:01

like it's long order mystery. If you're writing

7:03

a mystery story, it's a different it's a

7:05

different process than actually living. That's what I

7:07

said off-air. But also you're the kind of

7:09

mystery you're describing is kind of long order

7:11

storytelling which is a very satisfying storytelling where

7:13

each scene is a clue. Yeah. And

7:16

you get you get the mystery will move along one move. Moves

7:18

you a little bit closer to. Yes. As

7:20

opposed to something I'm like I get the

7:22

kind of classic hardboiled detective novel which does

7:24

have a very propulsive motion to it. And

7:27

you are getting a lot of clues but there are a lot

7:29

of swerves. Like if you think that's a big sleep or you

7:31

think that's something or any of the Dash Mohammed stuff. Red

7:33

herring, red herring, non-information, non-information.

7:36

Or Chinatown is another good example. You get what

7:38

you think is a red herring that actually will

7:41

come back you know 40 minutes later to be

7:43

the key to understanding this thing that you didn't

7:45

understand before. But it's designed. It

7:48

is designed. It is designed.

7:50

I worry. I worry that what we're

7:52

doing is just making the game suck.

7:54

You know what I mean? As opposed

7:56

to designing a satisfied ending. I think.

8:00

my takeaway because I'm enjoying this

8:02

but I think you feel like we

8:04

should be further ahead than we are but

8:06

to me right now like we

8:08

are still climbing the hill of the first act.

8:11

Like you know there's so

8:13

the problem of the Ayudara and

8:15

like the missing moment that is

8:18

so big that's like an endgame quest

8:20

you know and we're doing all these

8:22

little quests right now to solve you

8:24

know farmer or whatever his name

8:26

was and his weird son you know

8:28

to me right but I feel like they should

8:30

build but they are I think they are I

8:33

maybe just disagree with you I'm

8:36

feeling like we're getting the vibe I'm picking

8:38

up on a definite vibe and atmosphere

8:40

yeah like that's the kind of story that

8:42

is something that has become more clear to

8:45

me like in the last few times we've

8:47

played is that it's just

8:49

like oh now I'm getting a feel for like

8:51

a tone and everything that is

8:53

really interesting the thing that I

8:55

initially had a problem with was

8:58

that I think we're talking about this a little bit too is the

9:01

idea that our characters came into the

9:04

beginning of the adventure having already met

9:07

and known each other so I

9:09

think that that was a little bit of a

9:11

drawback at least for the way that we play

9:13

and that we didn't have an opportunity for our

9:15

art for us to meet our

9:18

other people's characters like as part of

9:20

the story and get to know

9:22

them that way was like assuming that way don't

9:24

we all like we can't have those discussions really

9:26

because we're supposed to already be acquainted so

9:29

it's hard to shoehorn those in right

9:31

so like if you're designing a really

9:33

good mystery or like a detective story

9:35

and you started with a detective and

9:37

their partner you can tell

9:39

by the way that it's crafted that they

9:42

have history and it comes out it perfectly

9:44

timed in an interesting ways when you're not

9:46

crafting it and you're supposed to like already

9:48

know everything about each other or at least a

9:51

decent amount about each other it seems weird to

9:53

be like so where are you from? But you're

9:55

like you've known each other for three months we're

9:57

living in a complex it's like well okay but

10:00

then we never had that conversation,

10:02

you know? Yeah, I guess I

10:04

always sort of considered it like

10:06

you guys were rolling into Riddleson's

10:08

situation at different times, along with

10:10

other Gatewalkers, so your time with

10:13

each of you individually may have been very

10:15

limited, and it wasn't until this journey with

10:17

Riddleson to Seven Arches did you really get

10:20

to start to know each other. Now that

10:22

doesn't mean that maybe Rameus and Bugles hadn't

10:24

spent a night having a couple

10:26

drinks and talking, you know, that might have happened, but I kind

10:28

of assumed that it was very surface, and

10:30

your journey there was very journey-oriented. It's

10:32

like, hey, I'm about to travel with

10:35

a bunch of relative strangers for a month. That

10:37

first week you're still kind of feeling each other

10:39

out, and it was now like

10:41

the second week of traveling together that our adventure

10:44

begins, but it is easier when it's like

10:46

you all meet in the tavern. Yeah, I

10:48

mean, I'm just thinking about some of the

10:50

other adventures, like Rise of the Runelords, spoilers

10:52

for the first four pages of Rise of

10:54

the Runelords, but everyone meets in a town,

10:57

and we see them, we meet

10:59

each other, like we experience that, and then

11:02

there's an event that sort

11:04

of catalyzes their relationship as a

11:06

group. And that, I

11:08

think that- Giant Slayer had a similar- Giant Slayer

11:10

had a similar thing, so I think that works

11:12

really well. I think that's why, well,

11:16

you know, I've been enjoying the entire

11:18

process, but it's just like I'm only

11:20

really feeling myself getting into

11:22

the story now, whereas I

11:24

think, something like Runelords, like I got

11:26

into it way earlier, just

11:28

because of that, helped by that

11:30

experience. I

11:34

would say that I'm really enjoying the story.

11:36

I enjoyed all the Bolan stuff and the

11:38

forest, Play Castle,

11:40

what's the actual, actual where I'm looking for

11:42

it? The gnome hideout? Gnome hideout, yeah. And

11:44

then this- Play Castle. I don't know. This

11:46

I'm really into, but I agree, like the

11:48

opening of it felt, I think

11:50

it's like you're opening on with a mission, but

11:53

kind of as a lie. Yeah.

11:57

That thing you're supposed to do was kind

11:59

of a faint. And so instead

12:01

of having that kind of big immediate,

12:04

instead of having the missing moment be the thing that kind of

12:06

united us all, we were like, oh, we're doing this mission

12:08

to measure the arches to see if they work and

12:10

they don't, but we didn't tell you that. And everybody

12:12

already knew they didn't work. It's a

12:14

very interesting situation in which the inciting of

12:17

that happened. Strange Jams is another three months

12:19

before the show began. Right, right, yeah. Yeah,

12:21

Strange Jams is another great, we all wake

12:23

up with similar lost time and

12:25

memory, and we're all in the same. And we

12:27

don't know each other. We don't know each other.

12:29

We wake up in this prison together and that's

12:31

breaking out of there, figuring our way out of

12:33

there. That's what draws us together as

12:35

a group. It is, when I

12:37

think more about it, it's that. It's just that

12:39

lack of, as you put it,

12:42

it's good that event that catalyzes not

12:44

just the story, but also the parts.

12:46

Our relationship, our existence, our unity. Not

12:49

that I wanted Lucky to Die, but her

12:52

dying really brought us together. It did, actually,

12:54

yeah, that was. It made it, because I

12:56

didn't think about that at first. I thought

12:58

that the vibe

13:01

being different was because this was my first

13:03

time playing in this type of setting with

13:05

you guys, but it was

13:07

because we didn't have what? For

13:10

you having to play in this setting. Oh, but

13:13

yeah, we didn't have, oh, we're just meeting.

13:15

We all know each other and it made

13:17

the vibe different. But in regards

13:19

to the mystery, I don't know

13:21

if it's just because I'm used to playing Call of Cthulhu, but I'm

13:24

just like, yeah, I don't know what's going on. I'll figure it out

13:26

at some point. I feel dealt a

13:28

green, too. I'm like, I don't know, I don't

13:30

know, I don't know. The whole time. And then

13:32

something happens like this. We figure out a path

13:34

and the portal opens and I'm like, nailed it.

13:38

We did it. I think this is one of

13:40

the things that drew me to this. It's a

13:42

very non-traditional approach. And it almost feels like the

13:44

way it's unfolding is more of a novel than

13:46

a screenplay. We've talked about Robert McKee before. His

13:48

whole thing is like, if in the first 10

13:50

pages of the script, that big thing

13:52

doesn't happen. It's a bad script. We

13:56

don't have that. For 20 episodes in, I think in

13:58

a way, you're still kind of waiting for that. like,

14:01

aha moment. And it's really not meant to be that.

14:03

It's meant to be more of a exploration

14:05

and discovery and it may feel slow,

14:07

but I think that you're definitely on

14:10

the verge of some

14:12

more answers. Yeah. And now, like I said,

14:14

I mean, now that we are... I feel

14:18

like now that the adventure has sort of picked a

14:20

lane and I'm starting to wrap my

14:22

head around that. And now, like for me, like my

14:25

place in our place in it just started to make

14:27

more sense. And I'm

14:29

really, you know, apart

14:31

from just being enjoying playing, like now I'm like

14:33

really invested in the story and like interested to

14:35

see where it goes next, like all that stuff.

14:37

Like now it's working for me. So...

14:41

And we've talked about the past on Ken

14:43

Fodder too, that like sometimes when you play

14:45

these APs, now this is a three book

14:47

AP as opposed to a six book adventure

14:49

path, that it's really not until the end

14:51

of book one that you realize what

14:53

the real game is that you're playing. Yeah. Sometimes

14:56

not even then. Yeah. When you look at

14:58

Giant Slayer, you know, spoiler alert, that just

15:00

started with this, you know, you think it's

15:03

a murder mystery and then you realize what's really

15:05

going on there. But even then, it's not until

15:07

the end of book two that you really realize. Yeah,

15:10

it feels like no, that even then... Yeah.

15:13

Yeah. But each step of the

15:15

way, you're getting satisfying answers to the immediate questions

15:17

you have. It's just that you get those answers

15:19

and it opens up another question, you know, and

15:22

I don't, I just don't, I'm not

15:24

seeing that here. But I think what Skid is talking

15:26

about with the characters, I think that's the biggest part

15:28

of it because with Delta Green, it's very like you

15:31

don't, solving it is not

15:33

the objective. Right. Yeah. It's

15:36

all about the attempt to solve it and

15:38

what it does to the people that are

15:40

trying to do that. Similar to Blade Runner,

15:42

the way that was laid out is really

15:44

brilliant. It's like the mystery is not the

15:46

focus. The focus is how the mystery affects

15:48

and impacts the tension between humans and replicants

15:50

and like what that, that's the core concept

15:52

we're examining. I think that we're missing that

15:54

a little bit. I think that we need

15:57

to do a little bit of better work.

16:00

with each other's characters not just being

16:02

so secretive about everything all the time

16:05

and starting to open up a little which obviously started to

16:07

happen last week. I could tell

16:09

you're going to accuse me. No,

16:12

that was a good thing. At least you're moving in a positive

16:14

direction. I did too. Yes, yeah, yeah,

16:16

and your scene was amazing. Oh yeah, you were an

16:18

amazing scene. Yeah, so like we got to do some

16:20

more of that because then you'll care

16:22

about like I haven't told anybody what my

16:24

missing moment is. I'm like he's very secretive

16:26

about it or whatever. But then like nobody knows

16:28

why he would do all this. It doesn't

16:30

make any sense. We got to get it

16:32

out there. As a player who had

16:35

their character die very early on, I

16:38

had so much and none of

16:40

it was spoken about. None of it was explored

16:43

and it's sort of like all right in the trash can. Like

16:45

I'm not going to, there's no way to use it for anything

16:47

but it does make me want to talk

16:49

about things now. Yeah, if only Lucky had

16:51

a journal. Oh, maybe she did. Maybe

16:54

we'll find it. It was on her person and burned in

16:56

the fire. The

16:59

other thing I will say too, to your point, but

17:01

to complicate it, is I think we

17:04

as a group like

17:06

to role play every single minute

17:09

of every day. Yeah, so like

17:12

last week's a perfect example. All right, so this

17:14

is a little bit meta, but like when

17:17

we get the bird and we get the time and we

17:19

get the location, I'm like let's

17:22

just and scene and

17:25

then we fade up and it's 9 p.m. and we're in the

17:27

woods. All right, that's a role play. Well, what

17:29

are we going to do for lunch? Who

17:31

do we not want to come to lunch? Now, obviously, there's

17:33

some comedy there. But

17:35

when we're talking about, well, did we ever look at

17:37

Henry Buckets house in my head? I'm like, it's

17:42

not. And

17:46

there was like a pattern. There

17:49

was a pattern in the mess. So it's like you see

17:51

that other people are finding stuff. But like in when we

17:53

were in the gnome compound fighting for a lot of episodes,

17:55

it's like you don't have time. Compound was

17:57

the word. Compound. That's Playhouse.

18:00

I was like, where did I play

18:02

Elton Waco? When

18:07

we were fighting... Great

18:14

joke, great joke. I

18:18

was trying to get in there. When

18:23

we were fighting, you don't have a lot

18:25

of time to role play, so I feel like we try

18:27

to take advantage of these times a lot. I

18:30

should have just named the episode David Corriss. Some

18:35

people say, what the hell is

18:37

going on? I

18:40

came here for some information on the seven seals. I

18:45

didn't expect the first world. One

18:48

of the things that I'm really trying to do in GMing

18:52

is just let you guys drive it. If you

18:54

want to go straight to 9 p.m., we can

18:56

do that. You guys skipped over

18:59

things after you had Pebblesworth. We're not going to deal

19:01

with that now. Maybe you'll deal with it

19:03

later. You don't have to do

19:05

everything, but if you're interested in doing everything, I'm going to follow

19:07

with you and try to make it interesting. Then you really feel

19:10

like the feeling I had as a

19:12

kid was like, I can do whatever I want. You don't

19:14

have to follow a path. It may

19:16

be slow. It may feel slow to you who

19:18

wants that thing. You

19:21

just got to kind of live in it because I

19:23

think the payoff is coming. It just moves at a

19:25

different pace. I

19:27

will say, in defense, it sounds like I'm

19:29

shitting on our approach, but it is that

19:32

approach that led to Barry Broadfinger and that

19:34

kind of comedy, but also the little interactions

19:36

that are just giving the world a lot

19:38

of check. I actually do. Yeah.

19:41

RPGs are different, and they're great for that reason. Totally.

19:44

Well, when we come back, maybe

19:47

this is the episode where business picks up

19:49

for Joe. The

20:00

last few years have been a

20:03

real humdinger of an experience. And

20:06

that can really stress some of the relationships in

20:08

your life. I mean, I know between

20:12

the pandemic and pseudo

20:14

post-pandemic, pandemic times and moving

20:16

and having children and these

20:18

things can really stress those

20:21

important relationships in your life and start

20:23

arguments and disagreements. And a

20:26

common misconception about relationships is

20:29

that they have to be easy to be right. But

20:31

sometimes the best ones are the ones where both people put in the

20:33

work to make them great. And therapy can

20:35

be a place to work through the challenges you face

20:37

in all your relationships, whether with friends, work, your significant

20:39

other, anyone. Now, I've

20:42

said before, and I'll say it again, that I think everyone

20:45

should get the help that they want and need. And

20:48

I am for healthy brains. I

20:50

think everyone probably would agree

20:52

that we can all be for healthy

20:54

brains. And it can

20:56

be really helpful to learn positive coping skills, how

20:59

to set boundaries, those kinds of things that can

21:01

empower you to be the best version of yourself.

21:04

And it isn't just for those who've experienced major trauma, it can

21:06

be for everyone. So if you're

21:08

thinking of starting therapy, maybe give BetterHelp a try.

21:34

Did you ever try to quit something

21:36

cold turkey? It sucks.

21:39

Drastic change can be noble,

21:41

but it is rarely effective

21:43

in my experience. It's actually

21:46

better to just try to remove the

21:48

bad part of a bad habit while

21:50

keeping some of the other elements so

21:52

you can be more effective in that

21:54

pursuit. That's why I love

21:56

the concept behind Fume, an

21:59

innovative, award-winning flavored air device

22:01

that does exactly that. It's

22:04

a device that uses flavored air

22:06

instead of vapor. The

22:09

set comes with flavors like, I've got them

22:11

right here, like crisp mint and

22:13

white cranberry and other flavors that

22:16

I freaking love. Like there's this

22:18

orange creamsicle one that's amazing. They're

22:20

delicious and the thing itself

22:22

has no electronics and is completely

22:25

natural. You should check this thing

22:27

out. It is made of this

22:29

beautiful wood. It has an onyx

22:31

coated mouthpiece. It is well weighted and

22:33

it's extremely fun to fidget with. I

22:36

was actually just having a jam session

22:38

with Land Keith and the Wood Man,

22:40

if you know him from the Degenerate

22:42

Dungeon. And during one of our breaks,

22:44

we stepped outside for a little fresh

22:47

air and I enjoyed my fume. It

22:49

is just natural and healthy and

22:51

it takes the bad out

22:53

of the habit. So start

22:55

the year off right with

22:57

the good habit by going

22:59

to tryfume.com/GCN and getting the

23:01

journey pack today. Fume is giving

23:03

the niche 10% off when

23:06

you use our code GCN to

23:08

help make starting the good habit that

23:10

much easier. And

23:15

we're back. Once again, I wanna

23:17

thank our sponsors, Demiplane, Foundry

23:19

VTT and Norse Foundry. Norse

23:22

Foundry for all your random number

23:24

generating needs. Check them

23:26

out. I'm so excited. I wonder if I'll

23:28

actually get to roll my shiny new Troy

23:30

die today. Who's rolling with their die? I'm

23:32

rolling with mine. Should be the only die

23:35

you roll. I don't have mine. For real. Mine is imperfect.

23:39

Oh, I forgot. The accident. Mine

23:41

is imperfect. I thought we destroyed that

23:44

in the forge. Norse

23:47

Foundry's gotten a little bit of love. Demiplane and

23:49

Foundry, not so much lately. It's

23:51

been a couple episodes of just

23:54

role play. Jovan's combat.

23:56

I wanna get this new character sheet,

23:58

by the way. It's... Well, not new,

24:00

but uh... Demi-plan-up. Demi-plan-remasters.

24:04

D'OOP! And, uh, I wanna take it

24:06

out for a spin! So go

24:09

ahead, take it to the recap, because we cross

24:11

over into this dangerous place. I wanna fight something.

24:13

I have no recap. You guys know where you

24:15

are. You are. You have stepped through.

24:18

And, as you said at the end of the episode and then

24:20

when we went off the air, uh, are we

24:22

st- are we gonna get back? How are we gonna get

24:24

back? How do we get out? You don't

24:26

know. You just stepped through. You just walked through a time

24:29

in your life. You just walked through a gate. Yeah. Can

24:31

I roll- Can I roll- We do

24:33

that. That's what we do. That's what we do.

24:36

That's what we do. That's what we get in the name. I would like to

24:38

think I did this last- in the moment of last week, but I didn't wanna, you

24:40

know, delay episode momentum. Sure. But

24:43

can I roll a knowledge check about this? I-

24:45

I mean, I, Matthew, suspect that the- the time

24:47

passes differently in this plane, even our past playing

24:50

experience. And also the three day,

24:52

three days, night deadline you set out for us

24:54

early on. Oh. But does Talitha

24:56

have any idea about that? Can I roll

24:58

something? Do Arcana, occultism, maybe some first world

25:00

lore? I'm sure you took that at character

25:03

creation. I mean, you've said that now multiple

25:05

times, which is- How would we- The AP

25:07

must have the term first world lore in

25:09

it a thousand times. We

25:11

just never thought to take it. All right,

25:13

22 Arcana. The

25:17

air around you, now that this

25:19

portal is close behind you, the world you've known

25:22

is close behind you, seems

25:25

to drain everything of color. Even

25:28

yourselves, you- you look at each other

25:30

and everyone just looks muted.

25:33

Not completely black and white. I said this last

25:35

week, it's not that, um, but

25:38

dull. You look down at yourself, your

25:40

skin, your clothing, same thing.

25:43

Just- Needs a color correction. Needs a color correction.

25:46

As you see- Desaturated. Yeah. Desaturated,

25:48

yes. The wind begins

25:51

howling around you as you

25:53

stand there and you

25:56

all feel the ground beneath your feet

25:58

sort of heave. and

26:00

rumble. Is it

26:02

like greeting you? Is it

26:06

constantly like this? You

26:08

do not know. Wait, literally the

26:10

ground is like... Like it's alive?

26:13

Like it's waking? Yeah. Like a

26:15

subway coming underneath. I thought you

26:17

meant like it's breathing or something. While you look

26:20

down it does feel like there is some movement

26:22

there, but then it stops. You

26:24

look ahead in the distance in the horizon.

26:26

You saw last week mountains. Well, you see

26:28

one of those mountains now and as it

26:30

catches your eye, you watch

26:32

as one of the slopes just crumbles

26:35

and falls off like an

26:37

invisible knife sliced a

26:39

chunk off the mountain. Ah, the

26:42

slope just falls to the

26:44

ground and then you watch where that

26:46

slope once was and you

26:48

see several trees start to emerge from

26:51

the earth, fully grown

26:53

where the mountain slope once

26:55

was just rising up to replace

26:57

the earth that just fell. You

27:01

look around you and everything

27:04

is covered in rot

27:07

and decay. There

27:09

are ruins of old structures dotting

27:11

the landscape up ahead. Maybe you

27:14

even see like little movement of

27:16

animals and all the little tiny

27:19

vermin you see all look twisted

27:21

and wrong as they scurry

27:23

off into the bushes and

27:27

then far ahead looming sort

27:30

of like invitingly to all of you

27:33

is a gargantuan tree

27:35

stump just

27:37

standing above the entire

27:40

surrounding foliage and it

27:42

is unearthly in size and seems

27:44

to beckon to you. That

27:47

twisting path that you saw at the bottom

27:49

of the fissure while you were still on

27:51

the material plane just winds

27:53

its way right to the base

27:55

of the stump far in the distance

27:58

with your check. You

28:01

know, in the time you spent in the

28:04

Quaking Stacks, that you are in

28:06

Nighthold. Okay.

28:10

You... I thought Nighthold was

28:12

like... a fortress.

28:16

That's what... that maybe is a sense that

28:18

you got, but you know that it is

28:20

a shadowy corner of the

28:22

First World. A

28:25

place that fell to pieces. Maybe it

28:27

was a fortress. It fell to pieces

28:29

when Count Renalg was exiled. So

28:33

we could be in the overgrowth of

28:35

like a once... like a bustling street

28:37

or empire or something. You look at

28:39

those structures, like, did those once connect?

28:41

Yeah. It's all a part of something

28:43

and then when he fell, it

28:46

just went to shit. The Rome of

28:48

the First World. Watching that mountain crumble and trees

28:51

emerge, that could have happened in the span of

28:53

a moment. When he

28:55

was exiled, Count Renalg, the

28:57

Lord of Betrayal, exile and shadows.

29:01

He himself was exiled to the Shadow

29:03

Plane by the other Eldest. Millennia

29:06

ago, you know this place

29:08

is deeply unstable and

29:11

dangerous, even for the First World, and

29:14

prone to regular breaches, through

29:16

which creatures can enter from the Material Plane,

29:19

just as you did. But creatures

29:21

can also enter from the Shadow

29:23

Plane. There is this constant

29:27

overlapping crosshatch. I'm

29:30

just reading my notes on the Thin Lands, and

29:32

that is the colorless forest located in the shadowy

29:34

realm of Nighthold. So

29:37

these are the Thin Lands. So it's a realm. Got

29:39

it. Here are

29:41

some traits about this area that may

29:44

be important to you with your role.

29:47

Shadow effects are stronger.

29:49

Spells and abilities that have the

29:51

shadow trait will be

29:53

a little bit stronger, should you use them.

29:56

And then inversely, light effects

29:59

are weaker. Spelled in abilities

30:01

with a light trait weaker

30:05

and the whole area is

30:08

dimly lit. Just

30:11

perpetually shrouded in

30:13

dim light and so you wonder

30:15

how artificial light or

30:17

even magical light may function here.

30:21

Do you remember that show Tales from

30:23

the Dark Side? Oh sure. The

30:25

intro when they're like it's like

30:27

a camera like going through the forest and

30:29

it's just like the world we know is

30:31

all the light side but there is another

30:33

world and then like everything goes like black

30:35

and white. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's

30:38

what it's making me think of. It's like scared the shit

30:40

out of me. And now you're

30:42

in it. Now I'm in it. Dream

30:44

come true. What

30:48

do you guys want to do? Anything

30:52

in my check about how time passes here

30:54

relative to the material plane? I

30:57

can also roll a cultism if you'd

30:59

rather me do that. Yeah, no you rolled 20. You

31:02

were pretty high. 22, yeah. No,

31:05

it's unstable but it's not like. Oh, like the

31:07

shadow plane. It's not like the shadow plane. So

31:10

we still are on our clock. You're still on

31:12

your clock but you know you

31:14

have reason to believe that it may like be

31:17

disjointed whereas a second could be longer

31:19

here but then moments later a second

31:22

could last could be shorter

31:24

or a minute could be longer or shorter. You

31:27

don't know how that will affect you if you're here

31:29

forever. Would you age

31:31

slower? Would you age faster? You're

31:33

not sure. It is chaos. It

31:36

is pure chaos. It's also tough because we

31:38

don't really have a way of measuring when this

31:40

gate might open again. That

31:43

was going to be my follow up question. Do we have any

31:46

understanding where we might be able to get home? That

31:48

was not on the broken bird

31:50

map. That information

31:52

was not on the bird. Flash

31:54

to your hotel. Are there birds? The second

31:57

bird is delivered. It has the out.

32:00

This bird was running 10 minutes fast by the way.

32:03

It didn't open until 9.10. That's true. Maybe

32:06

your watch is rough. What was your question? Is

32:08

there... Are there birds? Look up, you see

32:11

things flying from time to time, but they

32:13

don't look like birds. How

32:17

far away is the stone? From

32:19

a... Might be a couple

32:22

hours walk. Oh, hour? Really? I

32:24

thought it was right in front of us. It's enormous. Oh.

32:27

The path that leads to it is as

32:29

wide open as anything. It's almost like

32:33

strangely wide open with all this

32:35

foliage and nonsense and ruins around

32:37

you. The path may

32:39

wind, but it all leads straight to

32:41

the stump and it's clear of anything.

32:43

But it's like in the distance. It's so far away. It

32:45

looks like an aisle leading to an

32:47

altar. It is calling

32:50

me. You

32:52

two, hang on. I

32:56

also feel like we shouldn't stray

32:58

from this path. Let's

33:00

follow the path. As

33:02

we follow it a little bit, can I just like take

33:05

a look into the

33:07

woods around us, like do a nature check? I

33:10

don't know. Sure, do you walk? Like is anything

33:12

following us? You walk into, like, put off the path. Like, walk along

33:14

the edge. Okay. Just

33:16

give me a little nature check. Let's see what

33:18

happens. Natural too.

33:21

Natural too. Look, trees. So

33:24

maybe everyone either... I think it's grass.

33:27

Either you all start setting off or you're

33:29

still standing there gathering yourself and you walk

33:32

a little bit off the path to go

33:34

just get like a closer look. And

33:38

you start to look into the trees and

33:40

then you look down and you're back on

33:42

the path. I

33:46

try to walk off it again. You walk off it

33:48

again and it's almost like

33:50

the world is twisting you back

33:52

to this path. But

33:55

it happens so suddenly it doesn't make sense because

33:57

it's right here within reach like

34:00

a bush or something and then as you start

34:02

to walk towards it, it's almost like it's pushing

34:05

further back and you're being, the ground is

34:07

pulled back. I knew these see this. Fascinating.

34:09

Yeah, what does she look like to us?

34:12

It looks like she's just taking about a

34:15

step or two away and then just turning right

34:17

back. You feel like

34:19

you're walking five, ten steps. So

34:23

you see me just like acting wild

34:25

but I'm just like, you guys, this is

34:28

nuts. She's caught in like a, she's

34:30

drunk? Matrix thing. Have you been drinking?

34:32

The path will not let

34:34

me leave it. Really? What?

34:36

Yes, try to leave the path. We

34:39

all keep bringing the path. Yeah, we all try to do

34:41

it. We all experience the same thing. Doesn't

34:43

make any sense because also your

34:45

body relative to everyone else seems

34:47

to stay the same. Like you're all

34:49

being pulled together magnetically and

34:51

onto the path but the world

34:53

is shaping around you again. You

34:56

hear that rumble beneath you. The

35:00

world like reacting to your movements. Let's

35:04

head for the stump. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe I think

35:06

we're making the ground mad. We're

35:10

making the ground mad.

35:13

You walk. This

35:15

looks like a couple

35:18

hours away. But

35:21

as you continue on the path, imagine it's huge.

35:24

It doesn't make any sense. It's not like lots of really big tree

35:26

stuff. It is like a fortress sized tree stuff or castle sized

35:32

stuff. As you walk

35:34

toward it, not unlike being pulled back onto the

35:36

path, it seems to be approaching you. And so

35:38

the distance which at first seemed like it was

35:42

going to take a few hours only

35:45

takes about an hour for

35:47

you are near the path. And

35:51

as you approach the dark

35:53

forest around you, kind of

35:56

opens up into a wide

35:58

clearing of ash. gray

36:00

and twisted thorn trees. All

36:03

around the base of the tree are these thorn trees

36:05

with these spikes sticking out of them. Now,

36:08

avoiding it is a little tricky

36:10

because it's getting thicker and thicker, these thorn trees,

36:12

as you get closer to the stump. But you

36:14

can maneuver around them if you're careful. It even

36:17

looks like there's a path leading

36:19

right up to the base of

36:21

the stump through these thorns. And

36:23

in the clearing center squats this

36:25

enormous tree stump. You

36:27

look up and the top of it

36:29

looks broken off at a

36:31

strange angle. And then at

36:33

the base are these huge roots that

36:36

ripple through the dirt like leviathans

36:38

and surf. And

36:42

you see an ornate wooden door

36:45

standing at ground level

36:47

between two of these huge roots.

36:50

And it's faintly illuminated by

36:53

a little paper lantern hanging

36:56

on a branch with little things zipping

36:59

around inside of the lantern. You

37:03

see all these thorn trees, but you do

37:05

see this twisted path leads right

37:08

through the thorn trees and up to the

37:10

door. Let's

37:12

go to the map. A map?

37:16

Let's go to the old map.

37:20

Oh, I see. Oh. So

37:28

creepy and dark. So

37:31

creepy and dark. You

37:36

see those thorn trees, but you can see

37:38

how there's like a little winding path that

37:40

leads all the way up to the door.

37:46

I also take out her katana.

37:48

Yep. Grape your out. I

37:51

have my bow out. Now,

37:53

I think all of

37:55

you except Brother Rameus have either dark

37:57

vision or low light vision. light.

38:00

Yeah. The light. Maybe

38:03

Talitha has told you, I'm sure you came

38:05

across this stuff in your reading and you

38:07

had an hour long walk to recall what

38:10

you know, but you know, light functions differently

38:12

here. Do you want to experiment with

38:14

light? Yeah. He will

38:16

cast. All

38:20

right. You cast light

38:22

on yourself and

38:28

it doesn't quite do anything.

38:34

It doesn't quite do anything rather

38:36

than providing you with bright light.

38:41

It sheds more dim light. What?

38:45

More dim light. Like it just, it

38:47

doesn't raise the level of light around

38:49

you. The magical light that you cast

38:51

on yourself. It effectively does nothing. You

38:53

can see this emanation, but the light

38:56

level does not change. What

39:00

is the light level? Dim. Everywhere.

39:02

It's dim. Everywhere. All right then. Brother

39:05

Amy's perhaps try lighting the torch. Hold

39:07

on. No, this is more

39:10

awful than a torch. I'll

39:13

try again and seeing it's

39:15

just not emanating anything.

39:22

Perhaps. I

39:24

don't think he even carries torches. I've

39:27

pretty explained. Oh, that's

39:29

magical though too, right? So

39:32

again, it doesn't give off

39:34

any light. The light on the door. Does

39:36

that give off regular light? Oh yeah.

39:38

The light at the door, uh, is,

39:41

it actually

39:43

doesn't, uh, it

39:46

doesn't provide light. You just see the flickering.

39:48

I take out a torch from my adventurers

39:51

pack. I have a Tinder twig. Yeah.

39:53

Let's see. I like, I like the Tinder.

39:55

Those both shed light. I hand the

39:57

torch to Brother Rabian. Thank

40:00

you Oscar. You know how you light a tinder twig? Right.

40:03

Here we go. Oh boy. Very carefully? Right, right. Oh!

40:07

Oh, no. Wow.

40:10

How long have you been sitting on that? Did

40:14

you put that in your inventory just for this moment? I

40:16

just saw it in there. These things just

40:18

come to me. Weeks. We put it in.

40:20

Amazing. 30 regular and 30 bright

40:22

30 dim? Or is it 20? 20-20.

40:24

20-20. That's it. I don't want to sound like us.

40:26

Thank you, Oscar. This is... How

40:29

does it react differently to magic? I don't

40:31

understand. He's holding the

40:33

torch out from himself. So that doesn't... ...shine

40:37

too much light in his eyes. Remember how rude Brother

40:39

Rameus was about that torch idea? Is

40:42

Felicia saying that? No. That's not.

40:45

But I'm not just talking corporate shill. But

40:49

I just want to point out that not when you stand

40:51

under the branch of the tree, not only does the branch

40:53

go over your character token on Foundry, but

40:55

the shadow from the branch. Holy

40:57

crap. Oh, cool. Oh, my.

41:00

Good. Foundry. Miss. I'm immersed.

41:03

I'm immersed. I'm immersed. Asda

41:05

says, Thank you, Douglas. That was a very

41:07

good idea. Thank you. Can

41:10

everyone see? Yes.

41:12

Yes, I can. Thank you. With

41:15

that torch now, you wouldn't have to, you

41:17

know, roll against concealed, for example, where everything

41:20

was in dim light. Only

41:22

if it's within 20 feet. Asda,

41:24

as you step... There.

41:28

And Talitha, what are

41:30

your intentions? I

41:33

think Asda is very much in like survival

41:36

in the woods, aware of every twig

41:38

snap, and is moving towards the store

41:40

with the expectations that there's trickery afoot.

41:42

Just knowing the fae, knowing wild wood

41:45

stuff. She's like, this path is too

41:47

clear. They didn't want us to leave

41:49

this path. Something's up. Okay.

41:53

And Talitha, what is your intention? So it's to move slowly.

41:56

Slowly in like perception, just with her, full-time

41:59

ears. She's like every step, she's like twisting

42:01

her head, trying to listen for anyone eavesdropping

42:04

or trying to ambush us. Talitha's

42:06

gonna keep her eyes on the ground because it

42:09

was shifting the whole way here, right? So just

42:11

make sure I'm not gonna trip. And also

42:14

the trees because those look like they might,

42:16

yes. Both of you are

42:18

roll a will save. Ay, yo, yo. The

42:26

other three of you roll a perception

42:28

check. Okay. 13 will. 19

42:30

will. Natural

42:33

20. Boom. Same, natural

42:35

20. Whoa! Come

42:37

on, Joe. Ooh, natural 17. Hey!

42:40

Hey, you got a brew? All

42:42

right, here's what happens. Asta

42:47

and Talitha, as you

42:49

are moving five feet at a time,

42:51

it looks like you're going very slowly

42:53

and you're not just rushing forward. You're

42:55

purposely trying to avoid these thorn trees.

42:59

As you step forward and take

43:01

your next step, your intention is

43:03

to go forward and both of

43:05

you walk directly into these thorn

43:07

trees and you take three

43:12

points of damage each as the

43:14

thorns pierce your skin. Talitha,

43:16

careful. Drink

43:19

the potions. What are you guys

43:21

doing? What are you doing? Meanwhile,

43:23

Bugles, Zephyr, and Brother

43:25

Rameus look ahead and you see

43:27

on that same branch where

43:30

the little lantern with all those zipping things

43:33

in it, you see a creature standing

43:35

there sort of proudly and

43:37

it looks like it has

43:40

the body of like a skeletal owl, but

43:43

its bottom half is very simian.

43:46

It almost has like monkey legs

43:48

and bony wing and

43:50

its eyes are two

43:53

black shadowy pools. It's

43:56

the same as the other things. A

44:00

friend. Sounds

44:02

very friendly. Roll for initiative.

44:04

Ohhhh. Almost. I'll

44:07

just roll over that and that'll be 17. You

44:09

know what, he says perceptions. And

44:12

we'll have Asta and Talitha

44:14

roll fresh. So Brother

44:16

Ramius, what is your junk? 25

44:20

for Brother Ramius. And

44:25

then Buggles, what do you roll total? I

44:28

rolled a 23. 23

44:31

for Buggles. Yeah,

44:33

I wouldn't do that more often when you have the check

44:36

ready to go. And then Zephyr, what was your modified

44:38

roll? Okay,

44:41

then a fresh roll for Talitha. Nine. With

44:44

Talitha. I mean, you're in the thorns. Of

44:47

course it's going to hurt. It got waxed by a

44:49

thornber. Yep, it's very distracting. And then Asta. This

44:54

all made story sense. Now, here's

44:56

what we're going to do is I'm going to

44:58

move Talitha into a thorn and I'm going to

45:00

move Asta into a thorn. And the way it

45:02

works is basically if there's no thorns in the

45:04

space, you're safe. So you see it's a very

45:06

thin walkway. Now the ones where

45:09

it's like a hair's length. If you look

45:11

like moving from that space there, if you

45:13

look on the map, diagonally up is really

45:15

the only safe way to get through that middle.

45:17

There's like one point where the branches are reaching

45:19

towards each other and you see like really the

45:21

only way to get through that on your way

45:23

to the door is to move diagonally. So

45:26

I'm not going to hold you over the cold. You

45:28

can always ask me, hey, is this a dangerous space?

45:30

And I can tell you the point of this, especially

45:32

for audio listeners is it's pretty tricky between

45:34

you and this creature, which

45:37

I will show you now. You see

45:39

the pawn there, but let's

45:41

get a good look at this

45:43

thorns, bitch. Oh,

45:49

it's really cute. It

45:51

looks like a baby. Look at his

45:53

little eyes. It looks like a baby.

45:55

He's got little furry legs. It's like a

45:57

baby bird. Yeah, it looks like a

45:59

baby of whatever. It's monkey legs. Yeah, you're with

46:01

monkey legs and it's dead Yeah, it's a bird

46:04

that fell out of the nest on the street

46:06

except that has monkey legs That looks alive to

46:08

me. It's a bird you see on the street except

46:10

it has monkey legs Yeah, well, no you walked

46:12

out the street You see a bird like fell out

46:15

of its nest little baby bird and void eyes and

46:17

void eyes Yeah, jump on it and then asked as

46:19

hard as you can. Yeah, cuz it has monkey legs.

46:21

Yeah That's

46:25

why you do it cannot suffer a mutant to

46:28

live All

46:30

right. Oh my god, look at us dead Talitha

46:33

under things. All right, we'll have the

46:35

monkey shadow. I'll go first. That was

46:37

calm. That's what I have Monkey

46:41

shadow owl will go first

46:44

and we're gonna do a two

46:46

action John basically Let

46:48

me see right perfect right

46:51

next to Asta

46:54

there is this like a

46:57

burst effect that happens where

46:59

all of you see out of

47:02

your peripheral vision They weren't there

47:04

a second ago these visions that

47:07

are like churning with corpses

47:09

and worms running through the eye

47:11

sockets and Body holes in the

47:13

body of the corpses and then

47:15

like monsters coming out of the

47:17

shadows around you to pounce on

47:19

you And the corpses everybody give

47:22

me a will save Will

47:29

Oh Come on Norse foundry you sons

47:31

of bitches will save

47:34

am I entangled or anything? What

47:43

did everybody roll starting with raymias 2828

47:46

that is a success half damage 2030

47:49

20 success half damage 22

47:53

success half 3020 dirty 20

47:55

so yeah, it's just half 25. All

47:57

right, so all success half you're all gonna take

48:00

six points of mental damage

48:02

as these visions seem all

48:04

too real coming

48:06

towards you. And

48:09

I've got one Xione

48:11

left that

48:13

it just kind of like moves ever

48:16

so slightly on the branch in which

48:18

it's standing on kind of like peacocking,

48:20

like sidles

48:23

to the side on its branch and

48:26

it is brother Ramius's turn. Okay.

48:35

Brother Ramius is, he

48:37

like shrinks away from all these things that seem

48:39

to be coming out of him and he can

48:41

feel the damage that's being done to him and

48:43

he's just going to pray

48:46

for the keeper's intercession here and he's just going

48:48

to be like, do

48:50

not fear them. Do not fear

48:52

what they build, what

48:54

they make you think is there. It's not,

48:56

you're protected by the keeper and his guidance.

49:00

And I'm going to heal

49:02

everybody. I'm going to burst heal after

49:05

that initial hit. So he's going to use the

49:07

full three action heal to do an R of

49:10

healing for everybody and heal

49:12

eight hit points. Oh nice. Thank you.

49:14

So max heal. Oh

49:16

that was awesome. I was so worried there was going to be a one. So

49:19

we just channels basically. So

49:22

everybody gets eight hit points back. Thank you. All

49:25

right. That is his turn. That is your turn

49:27

and now it goes to Zephyr. All

49:30

right. So we have one in sight

49:32

through the thorns. I want to get

49:34

within 50 feet of this dumb

49:37

bird and I'm just outside of it. So

49:39

I'm going to move. Actually

49:43

this, what is your will save? My

49:46

will save? Oh,

49:48

like the plus and minus. Yeah, the old bone.

49:55

You have a negative will save? No, I'm an

49:57

expert in my will save. What

50:01

six? Okay, you can move as you

50:03

wish. That's what I

50:05

thought. Motherfucker! I'm

50:08

gonna move up like

50:10

15 feet or so so that I'm

50:12

within half my first range increment of my

50:14

long bow. Yes,

50:17

into Menastic Archer Stand.

50:19

She focuses in, hunkers down, has

50:22

her bow aimed

50:24

at this monstrosity and fires

50:27

two shots. How

50:31

do I play this game again? First

50:36

one is an 11. No,

50:40

no. Sweet. The

50:44

next one is a 20. That one hits.

50:46

It finds its way through all of

50:48

these twisted thorns and hips. Max

50:53

damage! Eight points of

50:55

damage. Okay, so

50:57

you hit this thing and it

50:59

squeals out with a sound that

51:01

doesn't sound good. Did all that seem to

51:04

go through? Did

51:06

all that seem to go through? Did. Let's follow

51:08

it together? Okay. We made the same stuff

51:10

from where we're from, so Doesn't

51:15

sound like it, but I swear it is. Is

51:19

that your final action? Yes, that's all I got.

51:21

Alright, so Zephyr does hit the thing and now

51:23

it is Bugle's turn. Bugle's

51:26

is He's

51:29

going to stretch his

51:31

finger out and boom! Array of

51:34

ice cold frost. Shoot them. Okay,

51:40

Bugle's is in the back end of the party here

51:42

next to Brother Raimia, 70 feet away from the creature

51:44

shoots an array of frost. 24

51:47

and hits. Phenomenal.

51:52

Man and max damage. Eight points of

51:54

damage. Another eight points of damage. It's

51:59

a bunch of... Beasts right now. X yeah,

52:01

we're ready and with

52:04

my third action I'm

52:06

going to Do

52:08

a shield boom like magic

52:11

shield in front of me magic shield pasta

52:16

What is your intentions with my encounter I have

52:18

been trying To see

52:21

what's possible for me. I can

52:23

do range stuff, but it's too far. So I'll

52:25

have to move She's gonna move

52:27

out. What is your will? You

52:34

go to move out how

52:36

many feet were you moving 15 20,

52:38

you know what I was gonna take a five

52:41

foot step It's

52:43

a quick. I know it's not a thing but she was gonna

52:45

move five feet away from the tree Okay,

52:48

and try to orient herself and what happens

52:51

is you move actually to a safe square

52:53

But not the square you were hoping to

52:55

you are compelled to move in a different

52:57

direction And you just take a

52:59

five foot step south as opposed to away.

53:02

Okay, I'm then okay

53:05

I I feel like you get the feeling of like

53:07

you're gonna throw up like when this happens, you know

53:09

Like a very disarray I'm gonna throw

53:11

she takes second and then she goes to

53:14

move again She wants to move next to

53:16

Zephyr to kind of ground herself. Okay,

53:18

and you have a plus six All right that time

53:20

you are able to move with ease kind

53:22

of feel like you're lost in the dark I

53:25

thought it was just like our modifier was

53:27

what made it okay, but you're rolling for

53:29

us every time we move As

53:32

you're standing there, you notice that brother Rameus

53:34

is light that's emanating off of him like

53:36

stops at the edge of Certain

53:39

area as you get closer to the trees

53:41

and so it should emanate all the way

53:43

around you It's not today. I can replicate

53:46

on the VTT, but it just kind of

53:48

stops at weird angles and just seems like

53:51

You know in light beyond where it

53:53

should be Bright through all

53:55

of you with dim and dark vision doesn't bother you,

53:57

but it's very disconcerting

54:00

and it would make you hesitant to sort of

54:02

move into that. Mmm. Are

54:04

you gonna count, since I'm making

54:06

these movements in pieces, I assume you're... If

54:09

one action left. Okay. That's what you're doing.

54:11

That's what it wants me to do, yeah.

54:14

So, okay, I'm gonna try to then move... Oh,

54:16

this is debilitating. Yeah, this sucks. Gotta

54:19

do range. You have to do... I'm

54:21

not in range. I cannot do any range. She's

54:23

too far away. Or it's too far away. I'm

54:25

gonna move 10 feet. Mmm! 10

54:27

feet. Which way? I'm going to move 10 feet

54:29

towards the creature still along the path, moving

54:32

past Zephyr. See if that works.

54:34

And so you were next to

54:36

Zephyr? You actually move 10 feet

54:39

right back into the thorn. Oh,

54:41

my God! And you take eight points of

54:43

piercing. Oh, my God! Oh, no! Oh, no!

54:46

You just hear Asa scream as she runs directly

54:48

back into the thorn bush. What are you doing?

54:50

What are you guys doing? I don't know.

54:52

I'm... That must have been the most terrifying

54:54

turn. Please, stop. Oh!

54:57

Oh! You're a headcracker, that's all right.

54:59

What a waste. Sorry, guys. Okay, that's my turn. That

55:01

was tricky. It was very unlucky. It

55:03

is Talitha's turn. Okay, Talitha

55:05

is going to... Oh, I looked at you. It

55:07

is Talitha's turn. Make the choice. Eight. Talitha

55:10

is going to step out of

55:12

the thorns. Mm-hmm. What

55:15

does your will say? Plus seven. You

55:17

actually step deeper in and take

55:19

seven points of piercing damage. Oh,

55:22

my God. All right. Awful.

55:25

Can I shoot from it's in here? Do I have a line of

55:27

seven? Mm-hmm. Okay, great. I

55:30

was drawing my hand crossbar as I moved.

55:32

I will now devise a stratagem. Okay. On

55:35

this thing. Shout out to NorseFoundry for

55:37

making this combat. I will not be taking the

55:40

shot. It's my favorite. But

55:42

I will, however, take my known weakness

55:45

to give myself a free recall knowledge.

55:47

Ooh, you want to do a nach

55:49

or some sort of lore, maybe even

55:51

applicable lore? Scouting lore? Nature

55:55

it is. Okay, 17. There

56:01

is something Gorga-esque about its appearance,

56:03

but it's actually not high

56:05

enough to know more about what this specific

56:07

creature is. Those eyes, those are Gorga eyes.

56:10

So you wonder, does it have the same abilities as a Gorga?

56:12

Is it a Gorga? No. Okay,

56:15

I don't know, but I'm not going to take my shot, so that's

56:17

my turn. That's your turn. Well, you know what?

56:19

I have an extraction of them. I moved, I devised a stragm,

56:22

and now I will try to move out of the thorns again.

56:24

Go do that! I'm happy, yeah.

56:26

Anywhere you want with these. I

56:28

move to stand next to Zephyr. Okay.

56:31

So you get my... See, that's how you move out of

56:33

the thorns. I did it once successfully.

56:37

Am I in a safe space where I'm standing on the map? Yeah,

56:39

you are in a safe space. You're in a safe space, Matthew. Matthew,

56:41

you're in a safe space. Oh, I was in a safe space. Thanks,

56:43

guys. Until

56:46

the top of round two, where it

56:48

is my turn again and things are

56:51

about to get nasty right after this

56:53

quick break. Oh, geez. Nastier? I'd

57:01

like to take a second to talk

57:04

about our incredible sponsor, NordVPN. Look,

57:07

when we go on tour, we end up booking a lot of

57:09

flights and a lot of hotels and a lot

57:12

of rental cars and stuff like that. And

57:14

a lot of people don't know that the costs associated

57:16

with those things can have a bit of

57:18

a price discrimination thing going on.

57:21

They can be more expensive in

57:23

one region or country than another.

57:25

And that's why I use NordVPN

57:27

to change my virtual location so

57:29

I can see if what I'm

57:31

booking is cheaper in another area.

57:34

It's just something that I'll

57:36

poke around doing when I'm in the

57:38

airport already and I'm killing time planning

57:40

for like the next trip. Or when

57:42

I'm on the train here to the

57:44

studio, I was just doing it for

57:46

our Toronto flights. It takes seconds to

57:48

change your location and even a technologically

57:51

disadvantaged old man like myself

57:53

can easily switch your virtual

57:55

location over and over with

57:58

ease. The bottom line. It

58:00

takes a few seconds and it has the

58:02

potential to save you money. You like saving

58:05

money, right? So why not give it a

58:07

shot Nord VPN helps us do it and

58:09

you could get it working for you at

58:11

a discount To get

58:13

the best discount off your Nord VPN plan

58:16

58:22

58:28

58:30

58:32

is in the episode description box First

58:38

thing that happens it moves again along

58:41

its branch kind of like Diagonally

58:43

to the south so to fight

58:45

the south west however, as it

58:47

does so that dim light that

58:49

is cutting up against your Non

58:52

magical torch like overtakes it and you are

58:55

now bathed in dim light Although behind you

58:57

you still are getting her. Yeah, you're bathed

58:59

in dim light behind you you have light

59:01

But you can't see ahead of you everything

59:03

is kind of dim You can kind of

59:05

see but it's a little shadowy as it

59:07

moves There is some sort of

59:09

aura that is moving with it and then once

59:12

again a burst appears that

59:14

will affect Did you move it on the map? I

59:18

can see it, but you can't The

59:20

creature no, I didn't move the

59:22

creature yet. I'm talking about the aura There

59:25

did the creature move now. I just moved it. Yeah, so it

59:28

only moves like a little bit Yeah, I just moved a tiny

59:30

little bit. Yeah Just to

59:32

you know, it's moving its aura basically and

59:34

then a burst is going to happen that

59:36

will affect Asta Talitha and Zephyr Same

59:39

thing you're seeing more corpses. It's kind of like what if

59:41

that movie is it not a living dead? We're

59:43

like skeletons come up out of the ground Around

59:46

the woman Hold

59:53

your guys pull the guys at the end It's

59:55

kind of like that you're surrounded by these corpses,

59:57

but then monsters trying to eat you to turn

59:59

you to corpses or also to eat the

1:00:01

corpses give me a... Either way it sounds terrifying.

1:00:04

It's horrible. You're gonna pull your hair up but

1:00:06

not out. Up but not out. Natural

1:00:08

20. Hey! What'd

1:00:11

you get there? Soothe? 45. All

1:00:14

right. Skid? Oh. Oh, me

1:00:16

too. No, no. No, not bubbles. 13. 13 is

1:00:18

gonna be 10 points of mental damage and Oscar

1:00:21

will take 5. Man. We're

1:00:28

able to shake it off a little bit better than her but you

1:00:30

are terrified by this. In

1:00:32

fact, as you look down, is that

1:00:35

Ollie's corpse being like

1:00:37

infested with worms and things lurking

1:00:39

in the darkness to grab you

1:00:41

and bring you back to your

1:00:44

friend? It is now Brother

1:00:46

Ranius' turn. Brother Ranius. You're not

1:00:48

in darkness but it is like...

1:00:52

You could see there's a

1:00:54

religious metaphor here. You could see but now

1:00:56

you cannot. I don't have it. Once

1:00:59

was blind but now you can see. Yeah, sure. It's

1:01:01

now you are blind. Come on, priest. Oh,

1:01:06

man. Okay. He's gonna try

1:01:08

to discern what this thing is through the

1:01:10

dim light as he sees his

1:01:12

companions probably grabbing their head. He knows the

1:01:14

vision that they saw. He just saw it

1:01:16

a moment ago. I'm gonna do a knowledge

1:01:18

check, knowledge nature on this thing to see

1:01:20

if I can determine if there's any defense

1:01:22

against this beyond

1:01:24

just, that

1:01:28

is... That could be good, though, Bally. That

1:01:30

could actually be half decent in

1:01:32

terms of knowledge. Stalling.

1:01:34

I know. That is a

1:01:36

22. That is good. This

1:01:38

is in fact a type of

1:01:40

gorga known as an oculi. Oh,

1:01:44

makes sense. And oculi

1:01:46

gorgas embodied the fear

1:01:48

of being lost in the

1:01:50

dark. Yeah. Oh, come on.

1:01:52

Really scared. Say it again.

1:01:55

They embody the fear of being lost

1:01:57

in the dark. That's what they're giving

1:01:59

us. That's what they're giving you

1:02:01

the fear of like you're walking through the

1:02:03

darkness and finding corpses, having monsters come up

1:02:05

behind you. But also... Yeah, things

1:02:07

in your periphery, the things you just can't see

1:02:10

coming in. And trying to walk where you want

1:02:12

to go but getting lost and walking in a

1:02:14

wrong direction. That is what they... Turn off the

1:02:16

lights and you run off the stairs and you're

1:02:18

like, oh, there's demons chasing me. They're

1:02:21

freaking the staircase. So grab your ankles. Yep. So

1:02:24

whereas the Temegurgurgers that you fought,

1:02:26

their whole thing was like eating

1:02:28

your shadows, oculi, they focus on

1:02:31

like what you can see. The

1:02:33

eye and twisting shadows to their

1:02:35

chaotic... Cool concepts. Yeah, it is

1:02:37

a cool concept. Very cool. And

1:02:39

terrifying. And terrifying. Don't believe it.

1:02:42

Trust your own minds. It's using

1:02:44

your fears against you. That

1:02:47

creature. It's gonna be the light that

1:02:49

banishes you. And he's going

1:02:51

to cast a divine lance

1:02:53

at the creature. Okay. Does this have a

1:02:55

light descriptor? I don't know if you want

1:02:57

to ask because you would have this information.

1:03:06

You know that it will be weaker if it does. I was

1:03:08

very generous with you. Well...

1:03:11

It does not have the light descriptor. And

1:03:13

you're all right. Okay. So that is going

1:03:15

to be a success on the

1:03:17

flat and then an 18 to hit. That

1:03:23

hits. Thank God. All

1:03:25

right. Fantastic. That

1:03:27

is a big one. That is a big one. And

1:03:29

it'll do six points of spirit

1:03:32

damage. We're doing

1:03:34

a little remaster action here. I want

1:03:36

my new jabbie plane, John. A little

1:03:38

demogenous spreak. Spirit damage. So

1:03:42

now divine lance at 2d4 is

1:03:44

the damage with no bonus and

1:03:47

spirit damage. Wow. Okay. So

1:03:50

Brother Rameus comes through. His god evidently

1:03:52

can hear him even in night

1:03:54

hold. Zephyr's turn.

1:03:57

Zephyr. He's at 2. Alright,

1:04:01

um, it's still in my monastic archer stance. It

1:04:03

didn't move out of my first

1:04:05

half of my range increment, so that's good. Before

1:04:07

I take another shot, I

1:04:10

want to try to do a knowledge check on

1:04:12

it to see, um, I don't

1:04:15

know, is it weak to

1:04:17

anything? Weaknesses. Okay.

1:04:20

Yeah, they'd be a knowledge nature. Give

1:04:22

her the old family feud. Good answer, good answer. I

1:04:24

mean, wait, I mean, I got a successful check. All I

1:04:27

know is kind of what it is. I'm sorry, you're right.

1:04:29

Let's save you that check. You would know that it's weak

1:04:31

to cold iron. Cool. Which,

1:04:33

in first edition, everyone had. Right. No one has. Weak

1:04:36

to cold iron. Were the

1:04:38

Gorgas? My Katana just didn't know what to be. I

1:04:40

think they were. I don't want to torch you on

1:04:42

that. I just didn't know if you knew off the

1:04:44

top of your head, but... You know, I'm remembering. I'm

1:04:47

just trying to really just flavor way to say that, you know. It's weak

1:04:49

to the same thing as the Gorgas. Timogia

1:04:52

is, uh, yeah, they were

1:04:54

weak to cold iron, but these are actually,

1:04:56

these creatures are actually weaker because they were

1:04:58

powerful. Ah, that's how it balances

1:05:00

it. Timogia is. Yeah. So, the weak

1:05:02

to cold iron, if we have any. Do we have

1:05:05

any? Not that I know of. What?

1:05:08

When I used to build characters in first edition, I

1:05:10

would always... It was like 30 gold pieces or something.

1:05:12

Yeah, didn't cost much. Make everything gold iron. Well,

1:05:16

okay, so I guess I didn't do that. I

1:05:18

didn't make that effect. Yeah, see, this is kind

1:05:20

of stupid. It's like, things we

1:05:22

should, you know, like... Knowing

1:05:24

we might be crossing over into this plane.

1:05:26

Yeah. Like, we should have had... Someone

1:05:28

should have a cold iron dagger. We went to the library and everything. Yeah,

1:05:31

we just, like, bought one. They'll

1:05:33

put an iron car in the shop. We're

1:05:36

going to have a lot of shit that's

1:05:38

character. Instead of just sitting down with

1:05:40

the tactics. Oh, I'm sorry. Do

1:05:42

you think Finland's farms had a

1:05:44

cold iron weapon shop? Flashback

1:05:46

to the quaking stacks as you're

1:05:49

going to the library. Oh, by

1:05:51

the way, someone gave me a

1:05:53

set of cutlery. I

1:05:55

don't need. They're all cold iron steak

1:05:58

knives. Thank you. Perfect. The

1:06:00

rolling line! The rolling line should

1:06:02

be really rare though, because it's like, it's supposed

1:06:05

to be meteoric iron, like iron that

1:06:07

fell to earth in the form

1:06:09

of a meteorite. So you

1:06:11

shouldn't be able to have it that readily anyway,

1:06:13

I think. You would not make it into a

1:06:16

state like that. Exactly. The dwarf samurai. You know

1:06:18

what? Next store you stop at, grab

1:06:20

yourself some gold. First thing I'm gonna do... Hold

1:06:24

iron arrow tips? I'm gonna take two

1:06:26

shots at it, at least, with my

1:06:28

flurry of blows. Pew pew! I need

1:06:30

my dice this time. What were

1:06:32

you using before? My roller. I can't

1:06:34

do math. I was

1:06:36

just randomly making a number. I was just reading

1:06:38

bone. I was using... I

1:06:41

was just reading bone. Our sponsors had me

1:06:43

playing in their roller. Which

1:06:45

made us back a game. I'm gonna ram the camera between 1 and

1:06:47

20. The tea

1:06:49

leaves say 13. 14

1:06:52

for the first one, which is not a hit. Good miss. Ooh,

1:06:56

20 for the second one. Shabang. All

1:07:00

right, all one hit zebra. It's only two

1:07:02

points of damage. That's just rude. Yeah, two.

1:07:06

All right, so boom, two points of damage. Do you have another

1:07:08

action, Yolanda? Yeah, it was only my first

1:07:10

action. I

1:07:12

guess I'll

1:07:15

take one

1:07:17

more. That range increment

1:07:19

hurting you right now? It will be

1:07:21

my worst range increment. But I mean, I

1:07:23

guess I want it... Your

1:07:26

map will be worse. But are you getting penalized

1:07:28

by the range right now? No, I have

1:07:30

a long bow. Oh, yeah. So

1:07:32

no. Great. But I also want

1:07:35

to know if I can do some sort of aid for

1:07:38

Talisa or Asta. I guess Asta, because

1:07:40

you're really deep in there for

1:07:42

your next 20-20 move. Don't worry about me. Yeah.

1:07:45

She says... She's like hooked on the

1:07:47

thorn. Yeah, my robe is in the tree. I'm

1:07:50

like, I'm good. You want to help... I'm just gonna head

1:07:52

right over there. You basically... I'd like to help her navigate

1:07:54

the way back. Like,

1:07:57

help you navigate, like, actually directions or try to

1:07:59

give you like... Mental stamina Booths

1:08:01

was like elite. Do it for

1:08:03

Maxwell your. Reaction would be to roll something

1:08:05

of a city see his face Twenty I could

1:08:07

change that to try and help you on your

1:08:09

will say because when it was how you are

1:08:11

rolling my will say i am I don't fucking.

1:08:15

And what? whatever on keepin

1:08:17

strength answer your admit what

1:08:19

is it. Actually

1:08:21

does not assess. Ah yes, who now be

1:08:23

he didn't even do that. You can. A

1:08:25

desert not on on on June Eight A

1:08:28

save but like in this case I makes

1:08:30

perfect sense to me to just like light

1:08:32

so you can. Use

1:08:34

in a skill set or and rules for

1:08:36

it yet like be aid action does not

1:08:38

pretending if you a few aid my it's

1:08:40

have an illness get a pass. To

1:08:43

get to see the Ochsner say a

1:08:45

means as seems like it ruins the

1:08:48

entire to not allow. Not an escape

1:08:50

as that's the thing is, I'm trying to

1:08:52

escape, but it's nice still settling. Well it's

1:08:54

a will say as. He as is

1:08:56

is is if if will is. Ah,

1:08:59

Saving throws fell under skill. check how like

1:09:01

he sees disease and I would allow it

1:09:03

but as written it does not want to.

1:09:05

The. Do it on my father not as

1:09:07

good as to be a boon, Survive and

1:09:09

Vanessa so I same between my head I

1:09:11

wanted to write a healthy Blizzards half like

1:09:13

listen you can you can see through the

1:09:16

trees the I have line of sight and

1:09:18

the same some I don't know what can

1:09:20

assess you can do range but I believe

1:09:22

in you think south as I try to

1:09:24

take one more hit at my worst. Math?

1:09:26

nope. The five ships

1:09:28

your own. Okay, it

1:09:31

is now cost. I

1:09:35

have a couple of quests. Okay, So.

1:09:38

We haven't really moved to the

1:09:41

Remus are completely. Yes, we haven't

1:09:43

adopted all the changes. As you

1:09:45

might say, we're still moving through

1:09:47

that curtain that's been torn in

1:09:49

their exactly that's a great metaphor

1:09:51

Joe Smith. So there are some

1:09:53

rules presley for the psychic that

1:09:56

are quite difference. see these spells

1:09:58

that I use the central. Tax

1:10:00

Dol values are completely different. One

1:10:03

of them would be more

1:10:05

useful here now than the

1:10:07

other one right says another

1:10:09

thing that is because I'd

1:10:12

be oscillating wave conscious minds

1:10:14

for my my cycle which

1:10:16

requires that seats are on

1:10:18

alternating rounds like of Ralph

1:10:20

turning as has I either

1:10:22

like basically use like. Fire.

1:10:25

Damage or call them as apt is

1:10:27

if I use bar damage one around

1:10:29

it is called them as the next.

1:10:31

So I've been using it as like

1:10:33

I have like produce, flame and ray

1:10:35

of frost so I do. Have

1:10:37

you know I do? Pretty slim One round

1:10:39

is two of referenced the next one, but.

1:10:42

I'm not sure that that actually the

1:10:44

requirement it's a says that you have

1:10:46

to remove energy and one spell and

1:10:48

added in the next and say it's

1:10:50

called, say it's fire or know if

1:10:52

I can use like everything else that

1:10:54

is described in see a spell for

1:10:56

for to swim for example and to

1:10:58

say that it's called them it's I

1:11:00

don't know, but that's not really made

1:11:02

clear as far as I can sell.

1:11:06

Because one is and rains and one isn't

1:11:08

one, I can use one of. Our

1:11:11

that's a lot. Really

1:11:14

opened fire on have penises. I.

1:11:18

Thought I. Heard what does everyone

1:11:20

picture in their head in that moment? But

1:11:23

I prefer a while but hasn't really come

1:11:25

off right. You're waiting for Thanksgiving dinner to

1:11:27

branch out. Or

1:11:31

he got voted for the upcoming. Yard.

1:11:34

So this is our is something we really.

1:11:37

I mean it is Republicans crazy. We haven't

1:11:39

really discussed. It is just because I'm trying.

1:11:41

To avoid it as long as possible, I think Madrigal

1:11:43

for you in on the eye on. her

1:11:47

idea of really really going to just be

1:11:49

like yes where we've updated the rematch rice

1:11:51

wanna make sure we're we're still good on

1:11:53

everything else before we jump forward to that

1:11:55

yellow at the same time phenomena five were

1:11:57

talking earlier that the put some of the

1:12:00

stuff is not like remastered stuff. It's errata.

1:12:02

Like the psychic class has changed. Some of

1:12:04

the rules have changed. Yeah, it really affects

1:12:06

you more than it might show. So I'm

1:12:08

not sure when you're going to want me

1:12:10

to switch over to that as well. Yeah,

1:12:12

we're getting close. What I'm not interested in is

1:12:14

like, now burning hands is cozy fucking touch. I

1:12:17

don't want to do that. Cozy

1:12:19

touch? Yeah. I

1:12:24

like cozy touch. You're in the heat

1:12:26

of battle. It's a gorgon. Cozy touch.

1:12:29

Cozy touch. Well, it's probably less damage. I might

1:12:31

be able to cut this. Yeah, that I

1:12:34

don't, God, I don't want to do that.

1:12:36

It's going to ruin everything. But I think,

1:12:38

uh, we'll hold off on the

1:12:40

larger discussion on the smaller discussion. It

1:12:42

seems like, because I'm looking at

1:12:44

this here in me, you can already

1:12:46

see that like there's PFS notes. If you want to

1:12:49

buy a psychic, don't. It's

1:12:52

a PFS play. But it

1:12:54

feels like the intention is for you

1:12:56

to be able to produce cold flame

1:12:58

and do hot razor froth. I mean,

1:13:00

it's, why would you be able to add the, why

1:13:02

would it say the ability gains the fire trait to

1:13:04

spells that already have the fire trait? I think you're

1:13:06

supposed to be able to change those traits and,

1:13:09

uh, oh, that seems kind of cool.

1:13:11

Yeah, I think, I think, I think

1:13:13

I've been unnecessarily hindering myself by

1:13:16

insisting that I, for me, that I

1:13:18

have to like use the fire spell

1:13:20

on one turn and the, I spell

1:13:22

the next turn where I probably could

1:13:25

have been just using either

1:13:27

one of those spells as a fire spell or a

1:13:29

nice spell. That's what it sounds like. Yeah. And

1:13:32

in fact, to me, it sounds a lot

1:13:34

more like what the psychic is actually doing.

1:13:36

You're manipulating the reality of the thing itself.

1:13:38

So you're taking the fire out of the

1:13:40

fire spell and making it a cold spell

1:13:42

using, as it's really cool. Yeah, I like

1:13:44

that. If anyone else out there knows

1:13:46

any different, let me know. Yeah.

1:13:48

And please, the professor will let us know as well. But what's

1:13:50

cool is like right now at the table, we're all sort of

1:13:53

on the same page here. That's all that really matters. So

1:13:56

anyway, the reason that I brought it up in the

1:13:58

first place is because I'm, I'm a like 70

1:14:00

feet away from this thing. And my

1:14:02

Produce Flame, which I have to use a

1:14:05

fire spell on this turn, only

1:14:07

goes 30 feet, whereas my Ray of Frost goes 180 feet.

1:14:11

So, Ray of Flame? Ray of

1:14:13

Flame. Ray of Flame. Hot Ray!

1:14:15

Hot Ray! Hot Ray! Hot Baby

1:14:17

Ray. I'm changing

1:14:19

your name on my phone to Hot Ray. Hot Ray!

1:14:21

Fine, I insist you all call me Hot Ray from

1:14:23

now on. When I'm

1:14:25

riding a cape, please call me Hot Ray.

1:14:27

Hot Ray! Hot Ray! So,

1:14:30

when... Got Francis. Got

1:14:32

Francis. So, you

1:14:34

hear the Bugle's voice like changes

1:14:36

into a different person. No. You

1:14:39

hear the voice of Ku'ulu Khan. This

1:14:42

globe of cinders erupts around

1:14:44

him. And, hoo-choo-la-ta!

1:14:47

And he fires a ray of

1:14:49

thin flame at the creature.

1:14:51

Ooh, that's so cool. That like blue part of

1:14:53

the match? Yeah, 12 to hit. Yeah!

1:14:57

Glad we did that! It's the first time,

1:15:00

so... It

1:15:02

was the first time. A unicorn branch behind

1:15:04

it burst into blue flames. It was so

1:15:06

cool. It was cool. Yeah, so he talked,

1:15:08

talked. And... He freezes that

1:15:10

little branch. Yeah. And

1:15:12

I'm going to raise my shield. Strong

1:15:15

shield comes back up. It is Asda's

1:15:17

turn. Asda, what do you wanna do?

1:15:19

I wanna get out of this fucking

1:15:21

bramble. Okay. How many feet do

1:15:23

you wanna move? And what direction? No, you shut your mouth. That's

1:15:26

what I used to know. I

1:15:28

am casting a spell. Oh! Yeah,

1:15:30

guess what? Okay. So,

1:15:32

this is really cool about the magus.

1:15:34

A little bit to judge of that. This

1:15:37

is really cool. So, as a

1:15:40

magus, because you are a weapon fighter

1:15:42

and you're also a spellcaster, you don't

1:15:44

need to necessarily have a hand free

1:15:46

to cast your spell. You can two

1:15:48

weapon fight because you can

1:15:50

replace, I'm gonna read it verbatim. Two weapon

1:15:52

fight or two hand fight? Two hand, two hand. I don't

1:15:55

believe you. Because you

1:15:57

can draw replacement sigils.

1:16:06

1:16:11

1:16:13

manipulate separate places some attic so you can

1:16:15

whip around your weapon in the do that

1:16:18

1:16:20

1:16:22

1:19:54

Is moving about the thorn as as as to be causing

1:19:56

the game As as as I said. I'd say I'm

1:19:58

gonna do a full said. Stop moving

1:20:00

about the phone! Stay put! I'm

1:20:04

using my feet! I'm gonna

1:20:06

get out! He's dancing in the front. Just

1:20:09

like this, with my tassel. Felita,

1:20:13

this is so weird. This

1:20:16

is your turn. Okay, devise a

1:20:18

stratagem. Devise it. Okay,

1:20:20

there we go. Devise it. That's a

1:20:22

natural 18, so I will take a

1:20:24

shot with my hand crossbow, which

1:20:27

I assume with a 24 will hit. Uh,

1:20:30

yes it will. Okay. To

1:20:32

do my role, my new Matthew D6. Ah,

1:20:35

that one's not broken. No, that one did

1:20:38

not get broken. Okay, that is

1:20:40

five points of damage. Okay, chippity-doo-eeep!

1:20:42

Hip-a-roo-in-a-way! Uh, and then I

1:20:44

will... Oh, and an extra D6 for the strategic

1:20:46

strike. Oh, don't forget that! An

1:20:48

extra six points of damage. Oh, my

1:20:51

lord! Uh, and... Aw,

1:20:53

you die! Don't you get another...

1:20:56

Oh, you already tried to recall knowledge, so it

1:20:58

doesn't matter anymore? Like, you can't be sure. I

1:21:00

can't roll the same knowledge on it, right?

1:21:03

Once I've done it, and I got some... You

1:21:05

failed on it. I think, uh, you're not supposed to roll

1:21:07

once you fail on it. Yeah, that's a 1-e roll. I

1:21:10

don't know if it's the same in 2-e, but it should

1:21:12

be. I think if all

1:21:14

these you can see. Except that we

1:21:16

lost an action. Well, no, he gets

1:21:18

an apart, like when he hits, right?

1:21:21

When I use devise a stratagem, I get a free recall.

1:21:23

Oh, well, you already did. I feel like we talked about

1:21:25

this on fodder, like the intention is, like, if you fail

1:21:27

a knowledge check, you're not supposed to roll again. Unless

1:21:30

something materially has changed. Yeah, you're access to

1:21:32

that knowledge. But it's

1:21:35

like, sometimes you don't remember pertinent facts right

1:21:37

away. You have to keep

1:21:39

thinking about it, so that could represent, like,

1:21:42

a continued attempt to try to, like, remember

1:21:44

something. Good, you're being realistic. And

1:21:47

you know we front. Get that out of here. Because

1:21:50

of this shared stratagem... Listen

1:21:53

to me. I'm

1:21:55

wearing a cape. I'm wearing a cape situation. Maybe

1:21:58

longer. So comfortable. I'm sorry. No,

1:22:01

you're wrong. Please, I want to hear more about

1:22:03

the cape because the cape is wonderful. But anyway,

1:22:06

Zephyr, the creature

1:22:08

is now flat-footed to you until

1:22:10

the start of my next run. Oh, huge!

1:22:13

Huge! Was that person struggling over there? I hit

1:22:15

it every time. I'm just saying. You missed a

1:22:17

couple. That's the end. I could hit it harder. Yep,

1:22:20

you sure could. You hit a crit.

1:22:22

I hit it there. Got a point. Alright. And

1:22:25

then final action, reload the crossbow. Final

1:22:27

action, reload the crossbow. Up

1:22:30

around three is the oculi gorgas

1:22:32

turn. Man, if it ain't broke,

1:22:34

don't fix it. We

1:22:36

are going to continue to move a

1:22:39

little bit. It's just like taunting you

1:22:41

in its movements. It's very creepy. Again,

1:22:44

you're now that darkness. I

1:22:46

don't want to say darkness, but that ability for

1:22:48

you to see clearly is now behind you as

1:22:50

well. So you look behind you

1:22:52

and there's still a little more space between you

1:22:55

and the light you're emanating. So creepy. Doesn't make

1:22:57

sense. This would make an awesome

1:22:59

graphic novel right now. This

1:23:02

section. And now a

1:23:05

burst is going to happen right next to

1:23:07

Bugles and Brother Rameus. Both of you give

1:23:09

me a will save. The

1:23:11

signs steal my mind against your

1:23:13

deception. Horribleness. Brother Rameus, you're seeing

1:23:16

these burning bodies from

1:23:19

the Abbey. My friends. Things creeping out

1:23:21

to get you in Bugles. Whatever scares

1:23:23

you. Most ponies. Horses coming

1:23:25

in the brush near you. What did you

1:23:27

guys roll? 25 for me. 18

1:23:32

for Bugles. 25 and an 18. It's

1:23:35

going. Oh, come on. 13

1:23:38

points to Bugles. Six points to

1:23:40

Brother Rameus. Jesus.

1:23:42

Handle damage. This thing

1:23:44

is just getting into your

1:23:46

mind using its shadowy

1:23:48

talons to scrape at

1:23:51

your cerebellum. Brother Rameus. What

1:23:53

do you do? He's going to continue this attempt.

1:23:55

I mean, he hit it last time, so he'll

1:23:57

try again. He's going to try

1:23:59

to cast. his divine lance at it. BAM! Come

1:24:02

on man. Ho ho ho. Five

1:24:05

on the flat check. Oh get that

1:24:07

out of the way. DC five nice.

1:24:10

Where's that Norris Foundry John? Come

1:24:12

on. Come on. Come on

1:24:14

baby. That's not going to

1:24:16

do it. Well it might. Actually it

1:24:18

might. Shut up. Seventeen.

1:24:20

I think it's AC 18. Yeah,

1:24:26

AC 18. AC 18. Alright.

1:24:28

I was going to say it's a 17 mist and an

1:24:30

18. Yeah. That's all

1:24:32

I'm going to say. That's all I'm going to say. Thank

1:24:34

you. Alright so. Ah and he's

1:24:36

trying to look through. Pyaaa and the divine lance

1:24:39

sneaks by. Um. Asta?

1:24:42

We need your blade. I know. And

1:24:45

he is going to pray for the keeper's

1:24:47

guidance for you. So he'll cast guidance on

1:24:49

you which can be used for a will

1:24:51

see. Less. If you so. Design.

1:24:55

Plus one. Plus one. Okay.

1:24:58

So you can just succeed enough to

1:25:00

close on this thing. It could be

1:25:02

huge. In the meantime in Zephyr's turn

1:25:04

this thing is flat footed for one attack or one

1:25:06

round. Just as effort until my

1:25:08

next turn. Okay great. So every attack it's going

1:25:11

to be flat footed. Here we go. Thuria

1:25:13

blows. I'm coming for you.

1:25:16

I'm sorry no. No? The

1:25:18

next attack the designated ally makes against that creature before

1:25:20

the start of an attack. Stop eating

1:25:23

that book with the white out. And the thuria blows is one action. So

1:25:26

I think it should count to both of them. What

1:25:28

1:25:30

would just be the first one because the other one takes.

1:25:33

1:28:00

being the Kooloo. And Brother Rameus, by the way,

1:28:02

is like, I don't know how often he's been this

1:28:04

close to it. Maybe not yet,

1:28:06

because you've only done this like twice maybe,

1:28:08

right? I've done it

1:28:10

a few times. But

1:28:12

yeah, I mean, if you are like close to him,

1:28:14

like it literally feels

1:28:16

like a ghost has

1:28:19

replaced who you knew as

1:28:22

Bugles. When you were both on the

1:28:24

rope at the gnome compound, he was doing

1:28:26

that below you. It's just like

1:28:28

you're giving us an analogous experience

1:28:31

to when this happens to our

1:28:33

goblin compatriots. Right. And

1:28:36

the real world analogy was a ghost replaced

1:28:38

your goblin compatriots. But it is. It's

1:28:40

like in The Exorcist when Linda Blair, it's like

1:28:42

when it's Linda Blair, it's like, oh wait, now

1:28:44

it's not Linda Blair. Like that's what it feels

1:28:46

like. It's not

1:28:48

like Bugles got angry. It seems like

1:28:51

Bugles is not even there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, there is

1:28:53

no Bugles. There is no Bugles. It's the Lou Ferrigno

1:28:55

to your Bill Bixby. So,

1:28:58

Bugles, the cloud

1:29:01

around him, this aura changes

1:29:03

into ice and frost. He

1:29:10

cursing and this other voice fires

1:29:12

again. That's

1:29:15

better, that's 24 to hit. Hit.

1:29:18

Okay. Okay,

1:29:21

that is six points

1:29:23

of cold damage. I get three temporary

1:29:26

hit points back. Huge. Okay.

1:29:29

And then with my third action,

1:29:31

who is most hurt besides

1:29:34

me? I'm hurt also. I'm hurt. Okay.

1:29:38

I'm eight points down. Oh, you're probably the most hurt, I

1:29:40

think. Ow. And the thorns.

1:29:43

You had to put a number on it. If I had

1:29:45

to put a number on it, let me just scroll up.

1:29:47

I'm at, I think, 12 hit points. Okay. So

1:29:50

again, you feel, actually this might be

1:29:52

the first time for Hosta, but you

1:29:54

feel this, you feel Bugles, his

1:29:57

presence in you, in your mind. Online.

1:30:03

And he has six points back into

1:30:05

1:30:20

1:30:23

1:30:25

1:30:36

1:30:40

1:30:42

1:30:46

1:30:48

1:30:51

I'm I'm gonna do it I think our says

1:30:53

1:30:56

these brambles and just. See

1:30:58

and you have your sword in your hand already.

1:31:00

My hands you were drawing in the air was

1:31:02

in in more color, running with the kitano ready

1:31:04

to cease. Yeah, I like a spark less. Say.

1:31:09

Hi I'm running. Our commitment unnecessary like

1:31:11

the Disney Channel logo take as the.

1:31:13

River Dancing or your intention is

1:31:15

to move directly at it. When.

1:31:18

As you will say, Plus seven with that.

1:31:20

Plus. One six plus one is

1:31:23

seven. You.

1:31:28

Can muster it. Out

1:31:30

gonna be big families.

1:31:32

be fairly right? So

1:31:34

I run straight at it

1:31:36

and I'm gonna do myself

1:31:38

three thousand clock away. As

1:31:40

I'm running I passed Gouging

1:31:42

Claw ah and it's combined

1:31:44

with my gosh myself like

1:31:46

so with some frank I

1:31:48

sailed the fell into the

1:31:50

attack high for a cast

1:31:52

the spell. Effects

1:31:55

of the cell don't immediately occur there and viewed in

1:31:57

small cog. In fact I just need a me long.

1:32:00

Straight okay, so let me do that

1:32:02

come on come on. Where's

1:32:05

my katana? All

1:32:07

right here we go Okay

1:32:12

27 to hit The

1:32:20

guy doesn't apply right Well, she

1:32:22

already is it one role, but that's fine. Okay.

1:32:25

So first for my katana. That's 1d6 Let

1:32:29

me solve that the

1:32:31

three okay Ken

1:32:33

Kate eight are you wait wait. What did you just

1:32:35

say? I did damage with the

1:32:38

katana is 1d6 Plus

1:32:40

your strength modifier Oh

1:33:21

I Know

1:33:24

a few days ago Kid

1:33:30

thank you. Nick. You're losing it Okay,

1:33:39

so it is I've done the

1:33:41

math it's plus my strength for

1:33:44

Seven total I rolled a three plus

1:33:47

my four seven. All right, so

1:33:49

three regular with the katana You didn't have the

1:33:51

strength thing. It's gonna be another four. Yeah, that's

1:33:53

just the katana. Good math. That was

1:33:55

good easy math. Oh, no Oh,

1:34:00

it is so funny, Nick. Okay. So

1:34:03

funny. Now, the gouging claw, my

1:34:05

two action spell, part of the

1:34:07

spell strike. That's gonna be 2d6.

1:34:09

So it's just auto damage. Yeah. Yeah,

1:34:11

because you don't have to actually throw

1:34:14

the blade. Yeah, she throws the melee.

1:34:16

And discharges into my jaw. Except, I

1:34:18

guess my question is, because the spell

1:34:21

still has a potential crit. I have

1:34:23

to crit on the weapon attack. Okay,

1:34:25

cool. So it is 2d6. Things get

1:34:27

ugly. It says that you have to use a

1:34:29

spell that has a spell attack roll. Basically, what

1:34:31

you're doing is replacing the spell attack. With my

1:34:34

melee attack. Yeah. Okay, cool. So

1:34:38

that is

1:34:40

3, 5, 6, 9, 8 points of damage from

1:34:43

the gouging claw. So a total of 15 on

1:34:45

that strike. Nice. That's great. That's

1:34:48

great. And you kill it. No!

1:34:50

Oh my! He's good!

1:34:53

Brother Rameus was like, we need your blade. That

1:34:56

fucking blade's ridiculous! Thank you

1:34:58

for the guidance. You're able to... Yeah,

1:35:01

that probably made a difference. The guy, because he said it, just

1:35:03

made it. He did the secret roll. Just say

1:35:05

it. Well, it was on her well save out of

1:35:07

the thorn. Yep. Yeah, I don't know.

1:35:09

I know, but... I think you were off

1:35:12

by one. So I think you would have just hit the

1:35:14

save. Synergy! And put that one over. Huge.

1:35:17

You have killed the oculi. Dude, nasty blast.

1:35:21

Is the aura gone? Is that whole weird

1:35:23

thing? I'm going to move you just

1:35:25

to the space next to her, because you weren't

1:35:27

in thorny space. Yeah, it's like aura of darkness

1:35:29

dissipated. It's completely dissipated. So you're light, and you

1:35:32

notice that because your light now shines. Still

1:35:34

only giving you dim light. Right. Bright

1:35:37

light in 20 feet. Right, bright light in 20 feet. But

1:35:40

only because it's non-magical. Right. Oh, what a

1:35:42

bastard. Can we walk through the trees without

1:35:44

having to... You can navigate

1:35:46

your way all the way to that door, that

1:35:48

little lantern with the things moving around in it

1:35:51

with ease. I run up to Asa and

1:35:53

I give her a high five. Should

1:35:56

we do a little healing? Of course. Wait.

1:35:58

Buckles are you... Are you alright? You

1:36:01

look... Phew! Agh!

1:36:03

Agh! Agh! Agh! What

1:36:06

have I done? It's like his hands, it's

1:36:08

like checking his body. It's

1:36:10

like, yes. Sorry, I hope

1:36:14

I didn't scare you, Brother Amy. This

1:36:17

has happened before, Buckles. This

1:36:20

creature seems to overcome you. Yes,

1:36:23

and he starts, like, shrinking

1:36:25

immediately. Okay. Again,

1:36:29

his entire being sort

1:36:31

of shifts. He's like,

1:36:35

I think we should just go. And

1:36:38

feeling that he doesn't want to talk about it right now, and it's

1:36:40

not the time, he says, alright, well let's

1:36:42

get you patched up. Yes. And

1:36:46

then, now it's like he's noticing for the

1:36:48

first time, but he's been hurt. He's like, oh, oh,

1:36:51

it's alright. Sorry, this is within my

1:36:54

power to heal. Come with me. Let's get with

1:36:56

the others. So, Brother Amy,

1:36:58

this will go, and we'll need

1:37:00

to spend some time out here healing. Maybe

1:37:03

an hour or more, just patching up. Everybody.

1:37:06

Tree. Before he enters the

1:37:08

tree. So, do you want me to start doing rolls? Do

1:37:10

you want to do it off air? How

1:37:13

do you guys want to do it? You

1:37:15

could be rolling as we... As

1:37:17

you talk. As you talk, okay. Someone else

1:37:20

could role play while you roll. Come here,

1:37:22

Buckles. Come here, Buckles. So, he'll work on

1:37:24

Buckles first, and he's just going to, yeah,

1:37:26

do some treatments. Can I examine the door?

1:37:29

Yeah. Asa does that cool

1:37:31

samurai ronin thing where she whips all the blood

1:37:33

off her katana. Yes. And

1:37:36

then re-sheets it. The only reason to

1:37:38

have one. The only point. Examine

1:37:40

it. Matthew?

1:37:45

I'll also examine it. I'm looking for... I

1:37:47

rolled a 15. 18 if

1:37:50

it's related to Kanepo. It

1:37:54

is ornate, I mentioned that.

1:37:56

A wooden door, maybe made out

1:37:58

of the same wood, has the same... stump

1:38:02

but nothing out of the ordinary. And

1:38:06

nothing locked. Did

1:38:09

you check it? I rolled seven. Doesn't

1:38:13

look like. Was

1:38:16

this thing like guarding it? Was

1:38:19

it perched out here? It was perched out here, perhaps

1:38:22

to guard its entrance. Can I

1:38:24

check the, um, check for traps?

1:38:26

Bot? No. The body of the bird. Like, is there

1:38:28

anything on it? There's nothing on it. Okay. You

1:38:31

are. The only thing that's making noise here is

1:38:33

that little amazing, uh, lantern with like

1:38:35

things bedding around inside of it. Can I

1:38:37

look at the lantern? Yeah. It's

1:38:39

like made of paper and there's

1:38:41

like tiny little circles flying

1:38:43

around inside of it. Can I move it? Can

1:38:47

I take it down? Can I look

1:38:49

in? I want to see what's in it. Okay. It's

1:38:51

paper that you would have to like

1:38:53

rip or poke a hole into to see

1:38:56

what's inside. I think it's fireflies that wouldn't fly

1:38:58

out. Why? Because

1:39:01

you want, that's why I'd be able to use the lantern. We

1:39:03

should let them go. I

1:39:06

mean, we can all see fine. That's true. You

1:39:08

can't. Do you mind if I let

1:39:10

them go? No, of

1:39:12

course not. And he's really preoccupied with buggles

1:39:14

because he's having a hard time figuring out

1:39:16

how to help like be

1:39:22

all right. Calm down. Stop squirming. Help,

1:39:24

please. Uh, and he fails to his wounds

1:39:26

attempt. Blood. So he has to attempt again

1:39:28

and then he does get it. So he'll,

1:39:31

he'll heal you 11 points, but we're already

1:39:34

at 20 minutes. Pretty good. Did you get me? You

1:39:36

give me a little, I'm 10 down also. I'm

1:39:38

off. What are you doing? There's butterflies within that light. That's

1:39:40

what I just want to let them go. There

1:39:42

were shapes that then I theorize there were

1:39:44

fireflies. I

1:39:47

let the fireplace go. You open it and

1:39:49

sure enough, it is fireflies clambering to escape

1:39:51

and they just floating

1:39:54

around, but they're not giving off any light. Just

1:39:56

kind of fly away. way.

1:40:00

I'll check for traps on the

1:40:02

door. Okay. 11. No traps.

1:40:05

Cool door. This cool door does not

1:40:17

look trapped. How's healing the gear?

1:40:20

What do you have to roll to get it?

1:40:22

Florence Niningale. You have to roll a 10? I

1:40:24

could just take 20 to look for traps. Oh

1:40:26

my god, I just want to be

1:40:28

half decent. I mean average. My

1:40:31

goal is average.

1:40:35

So that is

1:40:39

actually a crit

1:40:45

on the second one. So he's

1:40:47

attempting to heal Talitha. Again, fails.

1:40:51

Maybe it's the dim light. He can't see as

1:40:53

well. He put in the torch up

1:40:55

against it, but the fire light is

1:40:57

not enough. I'll call the

1:41:00

right to a wound. That's

1:41:02

my face. I'm doing surgery.

1:41:05

I can't see

1:41:07

with that torch close. Oh man. Okay.

1:41:09

So that is 18 points of

1:41:11

healing. I'm feeling great.

1:41:19

Time is passing or sweating

1:41:21

now and step

1:41:26

up. Step up. Everybody's like, I'm all

1:41:28

right. I'm cool. I'll walk it off. You

1:41:30

know what? He's going to roll a cigarette.

1:41:32

Oh my god.

1:41:37

Light it with the torch. Light it with the torch. So

1:41:41

it's a down on of shadow rock. Another

1:41:45

crit for Zephyr.

1:41:48

Another crit for Zephyr. Yeah.

1:41:51

Oh my god, 10 points of healing.

1:41:54

That is perfect. That's terrible. She has

1:41:56

a kiss. And then

1:41:58

a couple more. Asta

1:42:01

another crit Well, it's

1:42:03

all it's all averaging out now. There we

1:42:05

go 16 points

1:42:07

of healing 20. I'm up back up. All right,

1:42:09

so how much time passes throw? So

1:42:12

it was 20 40 50 60. So that's

1:42:14

one hour and then and then he's just

1:42:16

got it to himself It's gonna

1:42:18

take 10 minutes. It's mental damage. Whoo

1:42:21

natural 20 Praise

1:42:24

and centers himself and I

1:42:26

do have to roll it Still because

1:42:28

he were those natural 20s or see even though I

1:42:30

only needed a couple points. Yeah. All right. He got

1:42:32

it. So Oh 20

1:42:35

hi even when you shoot to be average you fail

1:42:41

Wow turned Wow three

1:42:43

four crits into failure Somehow

1:42:50

somehow recharacterize Strangle

1:42:54

success is failure. Can I hurry? This

1:42:58

door stands in front of

1:43:01

you just as inviting Lee as the

1:43:03

stump did when first you entered night

1:43:05

hold Open

1:43:09

it shall we knock? No Asta,

1:43:13

I don't know. I don't think we

1:43:15

should just open the door Really happens at her Oh

1:43:17

Lisa. I believe it goes open the door

1:43:19

and the door opens like it

1:43:21

feels like it's opening to you Like you're

1:43:23

a second behind the actual opening of

1:43:26

it and it's opening for

1:43:28

you Like the video

1:43:30

sink is off. Yeah Fix

1:43:32

the video Francis. I think the sink is off And

1:43:36

that is what you say Those

1:43:39

of you near the door, although no one is actually We're

1:43:43

just too afraid Give

1:43:45

you a little flavor You

1:43:47

look in and you see an uneven

1:43:50

circular chamber fist

1:43:53

sized tunnels Riddle

1:43:56

the walls and ceilings. He was about

1:43:58

12 feet high the

1:44:00

backside of this chamber. It

1:44:02

looks like the trails of like worms. Oh

1:44:05

no. Near the southern wall

1:44:08

there is a pillar of

1:44:10

living wood that's been carved

1:44:12

into a terrifying

1:44:14

yet oddly majestic

1:44:18

statue of like a lanky striped-skinned

1:44:22

humanoid monster

1:44:25

and its wooden flesh is pocked with.

1:44:27

It must look

1:44:29

like tiny little pearls. And

1:44:32

to the east there's a door delving

1:44:34

deeper into the stump. These

1:44:37

fish sized holes everywhere even on

1:44:39

the statue itself. But on the

1:44:41

ceiling are these tiny little like

1:44:43

glow works that

1:44:46

are crawling along and just shedding

1:44:48

dim light on the

1:44:50

room. Can I

1:44:52

roll a knowledge check on the statue? Sure. I'm

1:44:56

gonna move into the room. Did we

1:45:00

also conclude that the magical

1:45:02

light effects are

1:45:04

the entire plane of existence here and

1:45:07

not just like the forest outside? Yes,

1:45:09

the situation in here. So you know

1:45:12

that in the thin lands spells

1:45:14

and abilities with a light trait are

1:45:16

weaker. Everything's dimly lit. Artificial

1:45:18

light seems to work better than

1:45:22

regular light. And then in here

1:45:24

areas in shadow or lit by weak light

1:45:27

sources are in dim light. So the light

1:45:29

you're providing is still just making everything. It's

1:45:32

allowing you to not have to roll the concealer.

1:45:34

Everybody else can see. So that's

1:45:39

it. My bow is away. Sorry, what you're

1:45:41

saying is contradictory in my head. As

1:45:43

long as you have the torch, you don't have

1:45:45

to roll the concealer. In 20 feet. Recall

1:45:56

knowledge on the statue. Yeah,

1:46:00

cultism, Arcana. You tell

1:46:02

me. I'll

1:46:05

do religion. I'll do occultism then. I mean Arcana's my best

1:46:07

skill, but I feel like it's gonna be I

1:46:10

think nature is gonna be widely applicable

1:46:12

everywhere. I'll do nature. What about first

1:46:15

world lore? Anybody

1:46:17

have any first world John? As soon as

1:46:19

we have some down time, I'll be sure

1:46:21

to train in that. Okay, 20 occultism. 15

1:46:25

nature. Okay. And

1:46:28

then, sorry, I'm a little behind the

1:46:30

curve on religion. That is

1:46:33

going to be a 21. It

1:46:37

does not seem to be a religious figure,

1:46:39

although the way in which it's presented

1:46:41

is very

1:46:43

majestic. Regal, but not holy.

1:46:47

Is it a slender figure? It

1:46:49

is a very slender figure. It is

1:46:52

tall and appendages are

1:46:54

very very long. Canipa.

1:46:57

So it could be not

1:46:59

visible, like feel

1:47:01

like what we saw in the alley. It

1:47:04

is similar, but this one almost looks more

1:47:08

majestic, stronger. The thing you saw in

1:47:10

the alley didn't look particularly strong. Maybe

1:47:12

that's like a shadow of what it

1:47:15

would be here. More

1:47:17

robust form of itself and its home.

1:47:19

Maybe it's being depicted as stronger. Yeah,

1:47:21

maybe it's like a like a worshipful

1:47:24

sort of depiction of it. Yeah. Is this

1:47:27

so could it be that Canipa

1:47:30

is the Duke? Count.

1:47:33

The count? Do they be one in the

1:47:35

same? No, I believe they're sort of figures.

1:47:37

Let me check my notes. Hmm. Because

1:47:42

I wonder if this is the Duke or Count or

1:47:44

whatever. Count

1:47:47

was exiled. Yeah. So I guess they

1:47:49

wouldn't be statue worshiping him

1:47:51

at all, right? If he was exiled. Canipa

1:47:53

the Slim. Yeah,

1:47:57

they were talked about as like two separate entities. I

1:47:59

mean maybe they're the same but yeah

1:48:01

it's just one working theory and

1:48:04

you know the statue has those same holes

1:48:06

as the ceiling in the walls but some

1:48:08

of the holes are full of what look

1:48:10

like pearls oh all right

1:48:12

and can I confirm that this is all wood like

1:48:15

the inside is it is it the cutout inside of

1:48:17

it it's a gravelly gigantic tree

1:48:19

yeah I want to look

1:48:21

at the pearl okay

1:48:23

that was creepy steps

1:48:28

forward they're all in the room here right next

1:48:30

to the statue to examine the pearl

1:48:34

as you're looking at them you realize

1:48:36

they aren't pearls they're

1:48:40

humanoid

1:48:44

and it's at that moment that all of

1:48:46

you hear a buzzing sound

1:48:49

coming from all

1:48:51

around you and you

1:48:53

see coming out of

1:48:56

the walls the

1:48:58

ceiling I am termites and

1:49:00

the statue itself like all

1:49:03

these tiny little winged creatures

1:49:05

that form together into one

1:49:07

large swarm oh

1:49:10

they're all holding pliers oh
