music Hey everybody and welcome back to the Idiot's Laughter podcast

0:39

episode 10 We're

0:42

facing storm There she

0:44

blows Yeah And by that

0:46

I mean the wind I got a couple storm chasers over here I

0:49

thought you were quoting young Humma I

0:53

was absolutely quoting young Humma Treat

0:56

me like a pirate Can't believe we haven't made one

0:58

of those jokes yet Yeah, well Statistically

1:01

You haven't got any booty yet That's true I'm

1:03

expecting the first booty you find to someone to

1:05

say And give me that booty Alright Connor Oh

1:12

man So storm at

1:14

sea, it reminds me of I

1:16

keep seeing those like North Sea videos that

1:18

are terrifying Where the waves are like 50

1:22

feet high And you see like

1:24

the frigate on

1:26

the ocean It's like just

1:29

completely upending like 45 degrees What

1:33

about all this Drake Passage stuff That's been

1:35

really hot on my for you page right

1:37

now Because the nine month cruise is about

1:39

to hit the Drake Passage Oh Which

1:42

is a big ordeal because that's by

1:44

Antarctica And like it's also massive swells

1:46

And like you can watch as the

1:48

waters hitting all their decks for their

1:50

rooms And like flooding

1:53

the ship Yeah That's

1:55

a nah for me Yeah like the oil

1:57

rig and the storm Ooh No,

2:00

yeah, these are modern vessels too. Can you

2:02

imagine like the wooden? Brave

2:04

like a sea like that like no wonder

2:07

they were scared of storms and I know

2:10

monumental I I gotta

2:12

wonder if it's easier for like a Wooden

2:16

like a smaller wooden ship to like

2:18

climb those waves and something that's as

2:20

long as like our modern ships Just

2:22

because of the like, you know, you

2:24

don't have the full ship on the

2:26

wave ever. Yeah, I know nothing

2:28

about you know Naval navigation. I

2:30

gotta imagine we've got some modern systems to help

2:32

like account for Yeah, stuff

2:34

like that. There I know that

2:38

in cruise ships

2:40

there are like baffle systems

2:43

within the the hull

2:45

to stabilize the

2:48

ship and so

2:50

it it doesn't do the rocking and

2:53

wave turning quite like that,

2:56

but I don't know if a smaller

2:59

vessel would be more

3:01

or less prone to Flipping

3:06

simply because it has to climb higher

3:11

at a deeper angle. Yeah Yeah,

3:14

you might be going vertical. Yeah, I mean if

3:16

the perfect storm is anything to Clue

3:19

a sin about which it is. It definitely is like

3:21

a fucking chance. Yeah, I Think

3:24

I think I'd be the guy that like goes to sleep

3:26

on the cruise ship The

3:28

cruise ship pool table who you're seeing those or they're

3:30

like Like

3:36

the cruise videos that have

3:38

like the furniture just flying

3:40

across oh, yeah, yeah Yeah,

3:44

that's that's no bueno you think you should bolt

3:47

some of that down Yeah,

3:49

you would think have any of you

3:51

ever experienced like a severe storm Either

3:55

on or off water Yeah

4:00

I wouldn't call it like a major storm, but

4:02

the one time I went sailing was on a

4:04

40-foot sailboat in

4:06

the Caribbean, I guess the Bahamas. We

4:09

hit a storm when we were out in kind of like

4:11

the open, not like super far out in

4:13

open sea but like maybe

4:15

like a half-days sail from

4:17

like any of the ports. The

4:20

chop was like a couple of feet maybe at

4:22

most or whatever, but seeing that massive storm roll

4:24

in while you felt like you

4:26

were in the open ocean basically, you felt

4:28

very daunting and like the rain

4:31

coming down in sheets and like trying to

4:33

stay dry like sometimes like in below decks

4:35

or whatever while like the chop is hitting

4:38

the boat was, it felt like

4:40

a reckoning. Yeah, like nature's out there knocking at

4:43

your door. That's the visual that

4:45

you don't often get on land, but you get

4:47

on sea where like you see where the storm

4:49

starts and where like the rain starts so you

4:51

can see the wall of rain as it comes

4:53

towards you. Yeah, that's

4:55

pretty creepy. I

4:59

have thankfully never been on a ship

5:01

when there has been bad or dangerous

5:05

waters, but I have had

5:07

to deal with some pretty

5:11

bad after effects

5:13

of a storm. I

5:16

remember there was a time after, this

5:18

was actually in Columbus, we had gotten

5:21

freezing rain

5:23

and so it was very cold and

5:26

it was late at night and I was

5:28

driving somebody else home. So I

5:30

was in like an unfamiliar part

5:33

of the city and the

5:35

road was complete ice. Thankfully,

5:38

there was nobody else around, but

5:40

I remember like pulling off onto

5:42

make a turn

5:45

and luckily there was no one

5:48

in the intersection because I could not stop.

5:50

It was just ice. So

5:53

I was very lucky and everyone else in the

5:55

car was very lucky that there were

5:57

just no obstacles in the road because... Uh,

6:00

there was no, no traction

6:03

happening there. And I think that's one of the

6:05

worst times I've ever been out in a

6:08

storm is having to drive on

6:10

ice. Yeah, that's

6:13

a hate it. Yeah.

6:15

I think the, I've not been in storms

6:17

and like, I'm, I think my story is

6:19

close to like, I guess Emily's like

6:21

the worst thing I've ever been in is like, oh really,

6:23

like as far as out in it,

6:26

like I've been inside my home when there's been bad

6:28

storms, but that's like, that's not a lot. Right. That's

6:30

different. I've been like inside when there's been a blizzard

6:32

and I've been stuck inside. So like, I

6:35

was driving one time and all of a

6:37

sudden the, like it was a flash flood

6:39

on the highway and so

6:41

then I hydroplane directly into the median

6:44

at 55 miles an

6:46

hour because it was a flash flood. So

6:49

like quite literally wasn't flooded and then was,

6:51

and it was still sunny out. And it

6:53

just like, everything came down up

6:55

ahead and it ran all into this like ditch,

6:57

like poor drainage. And then I did, I went

7:02

directly into the median at like 55 miles an hour.

7:06

Not a single bit of damage to my

7:08

car. My car like bounced off of that

7:10

median. Uh, no airbags,

7:12

no anything. It bounced off. No,

7:14

nothing, nothing was wrong with it.

7:16

In fact, this is the Suzuki

7:18

that was recalled about five or

7:21

six different times for some major

7:23

issues. 27 different other things.

7:33

So here's the thing. I'm really glad they didn't go off because I didn't

7:35

know that those got recalled because there's glass in them.

7:37

Anyway, I didn't die. That

7:41

was good. Uh, but yeah, no, like there wasn't, there was

7:43

no damage to the body. There was no damage to the

7:45

tire. Like I took it to a body shop because I

7:47

was like, Hey, I think there's gotta be some sort of

7:50

hidden damage. Cause like, I'll read

7:52

into a median. Nope. Nothing,

7:55

no issues. Well, it was,

7:57

yeah, it had a lot less weight.

8:00

when it hit the median because the entire

8:02

interior was carved out for a drug mule.

8:04

That's also true, but we don't need to

8:06

talk about that. That

8:09

was the worst storm I've ever driven through. I

8:11

guess I hadn't really thought about the fact that most

8:13

of you grew up in the

8:15

Midwest and so all of your storm stories

8:17

are going to mostly be like... Yeah,

8:21

blizzards is usually... We

8:23

had a couple windy storms in Ohio growing

8:26

up. Just a few off... Oh,

8:28

well... Tornado stuff? Yeah,

8:30

tornado stuff. Yeah, it was like... Tornado

8:32

scares is like the biggest thing, but

8:35

I don't know. Yeah,

8:37

like the storms aren't too crazy.

8:39

I mean, we have big thunderstorms. Don't get me

8:42

wrong, we had one this week, but I don't

8:44

know. Didn't the three of us... Meaning

8:47

three of us being Griffin, Chris, and I

8:49

all sleep through the tornado that went down

8:51

one block away from us? Yeah, the

8:53

end of the end of the cross street. That was

8:55

crazy. Because they did rip out a whole side

8:57

of a building and we all slept through it

8:59

and there were no tornado. Like a tree got

9:02

uprooted. Oh yeah, a whole side of the building

9:04

gone. The

9:06

brick fence or whatever in front of the

9:08

place got toppled. Oh. Yeah,

9:10

all of us slept through it, didn't have any idea

9:13

it happened. No

9:15

houses were touched. So

9:18

I have plenty of cold blizzard

9:20

stories and driving through blizzards and

9:22

only being on

9:26

a highway and only being able to see

9:28

just about to the hood of your car.

9:32

Dangerous driving conditions for

9:35

sure. And then definitely

9:37

at that point you just pull off

9:39

at whatever exit that

9:41

you can see and hope that

9:43

you can just... Hope that

9:45

you're driving straight, I guess. Or

9:48

hope that the road is straight. Hope the exit

9:50

isn't around about it. There's

9:53

certainly that, but I would say

9:55

that the strangest storm that I've

9:58

ever seen or been... a

10:00

part of was a,

10:03

I think they're called straight

10:06

line winds, where

10:09

a tornado is in

10:11

circles but a like straight

10:13

line winds are

10:16

by dangerously fast very

10:20

directional winds. Like

10:23

a micro bird. Kind of. So

10:25

the reason I guess

10:27

what makes these extremely strange

10:29

is that when it happened

10:32

when I was in college in

10:35

Iowa and it

10:37

is quite literally

10:40

one stock of corn is

10:42

completely upright and straight and

10:46

the next

10:48

row over it is 100%

10:50

blown over, chopped at the stock at at ground

10:57

level for could

11:00

be miles. Like

11:02

it is that

11:04

drastic of a change

11:06

that happens that

11:09

quickly and our agronomy

11:12

building was severely

11:14

damaged during that. Like the

11:16

whole siding completely torn off

11:20

and then the building beside

11:22

it though like across the street

11:25

nothing nothing at all. A

11:29

wind power washer. It's like cutting

11:31

lines. I think they're called like

11:33

just straight line winds. Yeah

11:37

they are called straight line winds they're not

11:39

necessarily in a straight line though. Okay.

11:42

It doesn't necessarily mean that they're in

11:44

a straight line but that's what they're

11:46

called because what can happen is it's

11:48

basically just concentrated power of wind in

11:50

like a certain spot. So I know

11:52

it happens because like sometimes one layer of wind

11:54

will dip below and like it'll be going really

11:56

fast and like get

11:58

like sent down towards the ground. around and then

12:00

out. I know because I was in a lot.

12:03

I didn't bring everything. I

12:05

was only I was only talking about

12:07

I was only thinking about nautical. I'll

12:09

save that for another another intro. I

12:11

am a I might have

12:14

already talked about it. Very much

12:16

a land-based creature. So yeah, so

12:18

that that's the that's the storm

12:20

that I've got. As

12:22

far as on on water, I'm scared

12:24

of that shit away. Yeah,

12:28

I'm the only East coaster. So when

12:31

I think it was Hurricane Irene

12:33

that came up the East Coast

12:35

and gathered strength past like North

12:37

and South Carolina. And it came

12:39

far enough up that it hit

12:41

like where I lived as a

12:43

kid in Pennsylvania, as well as

12:46

New Jersey and part of New

12:48

York. And like,

12:51

it's strange because, you know,

12:54

the northern East Coast is not prepared

12:56

for hurricanes at all like like the

12:58

South is the South gets hurricanes all

13:00

the time, obviously, and they're like devastating

13:02

down there. But to

13:04

an area that like doesn't expect them like

13:07

a cat three cat four was

13:09

like, you know,

13:11

a lot of you guys have been to my house,

13:13

like my parents house and the trees are like 3040

13:16

feet tall. And we

13:19

got hit with that. And like

13:21

shit was bending. Like these trees

13:23

were were these 40 foot tall

13:25

trees were like bending. And my

13:28

dad basically gathered up the house, we

13:30

all stayed at the like one hotel

13:32

in my small town. And

13:35

the power was out everywhere. And

13:38

he took our dog to his office.

13:41

Like the dog was at the office because

13:43

he didn't want her you know, at the

13:45

house during that and the hotel was no

13:47

pets. And I just like distinctly

13:50

remember walking around this

13:52

pitch black hotel like they handed out

13:54

glow sticks to everyone like not flashlights,

13:57

just glow sticks. So we all had

13:59

glow sticks. sticks like walking around this

14:01

hotel and it was one of those weird

14:03

experiences where like everyone at the hotel at

14:06

the time stands like you

14:08

know three or four rooms was

14:10

local like people leaving their house

14:12

because it's a pretty heavily wooded

14:14

area and the hotels not

14:16

wooded at all so it was way safer

14:19

and we couldn't get back to our house

14:21

there were like five trees down in just

14:23

like the three house like my

14:25

house and my two neighbors so there

14:27

was like a 40 footer down across the road

14:30

to get to the house my

14:32

neighbor's roof got completely taken out by

14:34

a tree our house

14:36

was thankfully unscathed but like when you

14:38

have trees that size and there's a

14:41

hurricane like you're just looking around the

14:43

yard and it's like there are like

14:46

five foot long spear size branches

14:48

like your wrist your wrist thick

14:50

just like impaled into the ground

14:53

oh had

14:56

you been outside at the wrong

14:58

time there you know it's

15:00

your final destination final destination in

15:03

that spot so that was that

15:06

was kind of a terrifying storm but I had

15:08

this like my school district was weird because it

15:10

was split by a big river and so we

15:12

used to have storm days all the time like

15:14

we would have snow days and we would have

15:16

rain days because the river would flood and

15:19

you couldn't get to half the district and if

15:21

the buses couldn't get to you they closed down

15:23

school so I remember we were

15:25

off school for like a full week after that

15:27

the river was so flooded but yeah

15:29

storms are fun yeah we're gonna see what you guys

15:31

do on an open ocean storm well you wouldn't call

15:33

this a storm right you call it like a squall

15:36

right I call this

15:38

a storm yeah not

15:41

a hurricane but a storm you're

15:43

not in the eye of

15:46

Abindago right now yeah yeah

15:48

so how about you blow

15:50

a squall on into some

15:52

of these empty hero points

15:54

why yeah this one's gonna

15:56

go to Calypso for the

15:58

backstory and befriending one

16:00

of her old crewmates last episode.

16:03

So this one's from Jason Willis.

16:06

It do be dangerous to embark on

16:08

your lonesome. Take this by thunder and

16:10

earn Bismarrah's grace. Oh,

16:12

thank you. So I don't think he intends for you to spend

16:14

it. Yeah, well I do intend

16:17

to keep it as my

16:19

third and just

16:21

sit on my three until the

16:23

group refresh and then

16:25

I will turn three and get

16:27

my additional hero point. Yeah, keep in mind listener

16:30

patrons you can designate whether or not they can

16:32

we could spend your hero points or not. Yeah,

16:34

you don't tell me what to do. No,

16:36

you don't tell me what to do. $10 enough you can...

16:41

This one's only for saves. Unlock

16:43

a new portion of the poll. You

16:46

have several slots of hero points. So

16:49

when last we left our heroes they

16:51

caroused for the evening befriending

16:53

members of the crew and

16:56

notably getting a parrot and

17:00

talking to one of

17:02

Calypso's old crew members

17:04

Badger, Medlar. You guys

17:06

could kind of smell this storm on

17:08

the air see the wind picking up

17:10

earlier in the day and

17:13

a couple hours before you would normally

17:15

be awoken by the bell. The bell

17:17

does begin to ring and Mr.

17:22

Plug commands everybody

17:25

not just the riggers to get up

17:27

in the rigging. It's all hands on

17:29

deck to combat this storm. And

17:33

so you're all

17:35

riggers today. You're all rolling on the

17:38

rigger table and because

17:41

of the nature of this storm all

17:44

checks that you make for

17:46

rigging tasks are

17:48

at a minus two penalty. Minus

17:51

two penalty. I'm gonna

17:53

shirk my responsibilities today.

17:57

I think that might be a keel. That's

17:59

a lash. Oh yeah, you have to keel it. So

18:02

you can kind of make

18:05

that deficit back up by

18:09

working diligently. It

18:11

doesn't seem like there's gonna be a lot of opportunity

18:14

to do a daily task

18:16

today as

18:19

everybody is up in the rigging. But if

18:22

by chance you wanted to try and

18:25

influence somebody during the storm, you maybe

18:27

could. So we're gonna go down the line

18:29

here and we'll start

18:32

with Atlas. Oh

18:34

boy. Go ahead and roll me on

18:36

the table, your job,

18:40

your rigger's task. Sure

18:42

thing. All right, I

18:44

got a three there. Okay.

18:49

So you're in the upper rigging. Working

18:51

the upper rigging is 50 feet up. Oh

18:55

dear God. So you're

18:57

gonna have to make a

18:59

athletics check to climb, followed by

19:01

either a sailing lure or an

19:03

acrobatics check while

19:06

you were performing tasks in the

19:08

upper rigging. Now these are

19:10

all gonna be too harder. So it's gonna be DC 15

19:13

athletics and a DC 15 acrobatics

19:15

or a DC 13 sailing lure. Well,

19:18

I think I'll be working diligently today. Okay,

19:20

so you get it back to the

19:22

regulators from DC. As

19:24

Atlas tries to

19:26

sliver up the rigging, trying

19:28

to work his way up to

19:30

the top here, I guess I have to start

19:33

with his athletics check. All

19:35

right, here we go. Oh

19:39

hell yeah, crit success of the 23 I

19:42

think. Fantastic, yeah. So

19:44

you managed to slither your way up

19:46

noting how much the ship

19:48

is listing from port to starboard as

19:50

these waves, because you're kind of like

19:53

sideways to the waves until you write

19:55

your, like the ship writes itself to

19:57

kind of go into that. uh

20:00

surf oh

20:02

boy and 50 feet up that's that's

20:06

high when you're in a storm guys that's

20:08

really way up there all

20:12

right and then now it's

20:14

time to actually do the job yes this

20:16

is gonna be an acrobatics check only

20:19

rolling in a plus two here oh

20:24

and i get a five total okay

20:27

i work diligently so this

20:29

doesn't look like it's a credit

20:31

so with the five total um

20:34

you are just buffeted

20:36

by the wind up here without the

20:38

sail on you know because you're above

20:41

the sail now without the sail blocking

20:43

some of that wind you are just

20:45

swaying in the breeze and you're spending

20:47

most of your time just trying to

20:50

hang on uh it's so difficult to

20:52

work up here the rain is making

20:54

it slick yeah and even even though

20:57

you are like somewhat aquatic and

20:59

used to the wet it's just

21:01

like this wet wood and these

21:03

wet ropes are almost impossible to

21:05

manage note down that you failed

21:07

this oh yeah i wrote that down

21:10

now i need a fortitude save yeah

21:14

the work is so difficult here

21:16

that it is exhausting

21:18

to perform oh

21:20

is this subject to the same

21:23

penalty this is not subject to the

21:25

same panel all right this is the flat there's a flat

21:27

fortitude save 13 13 you are fatigued okay next

21:34

we will move to calypso calypso go ahead

21:36

and give me a roll on that table

21:38

can do okay you are

21:42

the lookout you are climbing 60 feet

21:45

up no yes

21:48

they're like who's best who's best to

21:50

uh take a fall probably the the

21:52

bone person who doesn't have any fleshed

21:55

bruise are you working okay

21:57

yep give me athletics

22:00

check them to climb and then we'll

22:02

see how well you can spot. No

22:06

cushion for the fallen. So I don't have

22:08

a negative if I work diligently, right? Right,

22:11

it is just at the listed DC. That's great,

22:13

so I only have a regular negative. Ah.

22:19

We're all high. Nat 20! There

22:24

you go. With

22:27

the Nat 20 you make it up

22:29

to the crow's nest. Shakely,

22:31

but you know, you do it. You're kind

22:33

of shocked that you make it. I got

22:35

a 19. It's almost like you

22:37

know the ship like the back of your bone hand. Yeah,

22:40

it's almost like the memories,

22:42

they're coming back. Yeah, this

22:44

crow's nest looks familiar. Alright,

22:46

give me that perception check then. Okay.

22:49

Nat 20. Holy

22:52

cow. Not

22:55

only are you doing a great job looking

22:57

out here, you're able

23:00

to call out several

23:02

rogue waves that occur during

23:04

this storm, or

23:07

during like the daytime during this storm. So

23:11

you successfully save yourself

23:14

at this point from, you

23:16

know, you're able to actually brace because you've seen

23:18

these things and you won't fly out of the

23:20

crow's nest. But

23:22

you're also able to warn the crew, shout down

23:24

to them before anyone, you

23:28

know, falls overboard. Very

23:30

well done. You

23:33

are soaked. Like you more

23:35

than anyone has no cover. And

23:39

what becomes concerning quickly is

23:41

the lightning flashes. You

23:43

are the highest object up here. Not

23:48

good. So,

23:50

with your perception, you worry that the mast

23:53

might be struck at some point. Okay.

23:57

Let's have Grady go. Okay.

24:01

Grady is working diligently with the

24:03

purpose, calling out as the sheets

24:06

of rain fall on the decks. Pray

24:09

to whatever gods you believe in, yes,

24:11

Caliwags, the Duke of Thunder is busy

24:14

today! We've got a

24:16

five as well. Oh, I guess

24:18

you're joining Calypso up in

24:21

the crow's nest. Okay.

24:24

So you two, you kind of climb up

24:26

after. Go ahead and give me that athletics.

24:29

You're going to lift the feet up. That is a

24:31

failure with an 11. Yeah, with that

24:33

failure, it takes you a long

24:35

time. Calypso's already up and

24:37

in the crow's nest for, you know, maybe

24:39

10, 20 minutes before you make it all

24:42

the way up. It's noticed

24:44

that you're taking so long here.

24:47

You can't blame me, Calypso. The

24:50

wind just blows through you. I'm as

24:53

full as a sheet here on the wind. I

24:55

don't think I'm the one noticing. I'm noticing waves. You've

24:58

got to worry about Mr. Blug. He's

25:03

trying to make excuses for why

25:05

he's joined the story. Now

25:07

I need a perception check. All right.

25:10

16. I'm sure I notice whatever Calypso points out

25:12

to me. Yeah.

25:15

So you notice something different. Calypso

25:17

is kind of calling out the waves and

25:20

looking further on the horizon. You

25:22

notice that there is maybe

25:25

with the coming of

25:27

this storm, there is a large

25:30

increase in sea life. You

25:33

can see it off the

25:35

sides of the ship, like, you know, shapes

25:37

in the water. And

25:39

you often see, like, small fish

25:42

breach and fall

25:45

back into the water. Now

25:48

would be a great time to fish if you

25:50

weren't all manning

25:53

every rigging job possible. He's

25:56

going to call down. This probably gets lost in the wind. Find

25:59

your nest, lads. The sea's

26:01

teeming in the storm here. Okay,

26:04

I need my two crows nesters

26:06

to also roll fortitude saves here.

26:08

Okay. Twenty total.

26:11

Twenty, Grady, you are successful and are not

26:13

fatigued. Sixteen. Calypso

26:16

is also successful. No

26:19

fatigue there. Next we move

26:21

on to Kaia. Kaia, go ahead and

26:23

give me your rigging

26:25

roll. As Kaia

26:28

makes it to the main deck of the ship,

26:30

she's going to throw a silver piece over gold.

26:36

Does Mara seems angry at us? You

26:40

head up after Atlas into the upper rigging.

26:42

I'm going to need you to make me

26:44

an athletics. I honestly

26:46

don't think I remember hearing about the upper rigging

26:49

until now, and now it's like, we

26:51

got two of them in there. I

26:53

think somebody had upper rigging already. I

26:55

don't think that I did. I think I did. Ah,

26:58

okay. And before I decide

27:00

if Kaia is

27:02

working diligently or not, did

27:05

the parrot stay below deck without any

27:07

influencing? Perfect.

27:10

Yes. I will work diligently then.

27:13

Okay. Ooh,

27:16

that is a natural twenty for a

27:18

twenty-seven on the athletics check. Yeah.

27:21

Maybe you used all the wind through your

27:23

feathers. You managed

27:25

to actually take advantage of your

27:27

feathery form and lift

27:29

yourself up that fifty feet very

27:32

quickly. Now it's a sailing

27:34

lure or acrobatics, dealer's choice. Oh,

27:37

with the different DCs

27:40

are actually the same. You

27:44

know what? Let's do

27:46

sailing lure. Ooh, only

27:49

a seven. You're having the

27:51

same difficulties that Atlas has had. In fact,

27:53

the two of you being up here at

27:55

the same time, you're bumping into each other,

27:58

you're steadying each other as the other seems

28:00

like they're about to fall

28:02

right off, you're not getting a ton of

28:04

work done and it is noticed. Oh no.

28:06

But we had some great bonding time it

28:09

sounds like. Yeah, you're both kind of holding

28:11

on for dear life here. Go ahead and

28:13

make me a fortitude save. Bold

28:16

of you to assume you're in the same sail. True.

28:20

So, a 22. Yeah, with a

28:22

22 you are not fatigued. Alright.

28:26

Finally it is Wit's turn. Let's

28:28

see what happens when Wit doesn't have to

28:30

do cushy. It's made. Is

28:34

there a rigging roll that's just drink?

28:38

Line work. No, but unfortunately

28:40

Wit has

28:42

gotten line work so Wit

28:45

isn't climbing anything but they

28:47

are working the lines lowering

28:49

and raising sails so I'm

28:51

going to need a

28:54

sailing lure or acrobatics check.

28:56

Acrobatics? I assume you're working

28:59

diligently? Oh yeah. Okay,

29:01

then you can use these DCs. Yeah, my

29:03

apologies. That's what, during

29:05

the storm, wasn't going

29:08

to have. Wow, very

29:10

poor. Very poor. Seven. Yeah,

29:13

so you're just slipping all

29:15

over these lines, they're

29:18

getting tangled up on you, you're having

29:20

trouble untangling them and then getting back

29:22

to work and this is just one

29:25

of the most back breaking tasks that I wear

29:27

can be assigned so I need

29:29

you to make me a fortitude save. This

29:31

one actually comes with the task so it's

29:34

that DC 17 fortitude. Okay,

29:37

okay. Not good.

29:39

Fourteen. You are fatigued

29:42

and now after a

29:44

day of working in the storm I need you

29:46

to make another fortitude save. Twenty-one.

29:49

Okay. You are

29:51

not further fatigued. Fatigued what? I'm

29:53

not going to say the hard days work. You

29:55

all make it through your tasks and

29:58

scramble down from your various

30:00

spots for

30:03

a quick hard

30:05

tack meal that

30:07

you kind of take in shifts before

30:11

Scourge lets

30:13

you know. Alright,

30:17

back to work. We've got

30:19

to work through this entire

30:21

storm. There'll be no revelry

30:23

tonight. And we're gonna

30:26

go through it again. Oh no! Come

30:28

on, man! I was gonna go gambling!

30:31

You're gonna go long to hop or whatever. I'm

30:34

gonna go hot and long to hop. So

30:36

I need new

30:39

rolls on the rigor

30:41

task list and we'll start with

30:43

Atlas again. Alright, so this is

30:45

a potential different task then, right?

30:47

Yes. Alright, so maybe they

30:49

see me screwing up in

30:52

the morning. I rolled

30:54

and it looks like I got

30:56

a... Oh, son of a bitch! I

30:58

got a two-willed blind work. Taking

31:00

over for a wits failure. Yeah,

31:05

like so many of you, only

31:08

the crows nest people succeeded, so

31:11

everyone else is getting... Well,

31:15

I guess Grady didn't succeed at climbing up very

31:17

well. Hey, I saw the things. Alright.

31:23

Still working diligently, of course. But

31:26

I am fatigued now, so that looks like

31:28

that's gonna be... Oh, I don't

31:30

think it's actually gonna affect these... Well,

31:32

this fortitude-sapital effect, but at

31:35

least this initial acrobatics, it should not. Got

31:39

it. Not good at acrobatics. There we go, though. 21 total.

31:43

21 total is a success,

31:45

so Atlas swapping for wit

31:48

is able to successfully complete

31:50

the line work, untangle the

31:52

lines, haul rope, and

31:56

you get noticed as somebody that's

31:58

working hard and successful. But

32:00

I you know this again is backbreaking

32:02

work listen I've spent my

32:05

entire life trying to keep this

32:07

tail untangled I'm

32:09

good for untangling rope Fortitude

32:12

save here we come Okay,

32:14

let's keep it rolling. That's the 19 Okay

32:17

with the 19 you are not further

32:19

fatigued But do

32:22

I have another fort safe coming my way you

32:24

might The first fort

32:27

save kind of represents you having to do

32:31

Work tasks back to back. Okay,

32:33

right? So we'll see

32:35

what happens after this work task whether

32:37

or not you'll need to do another

32:39

fortitude save and whether it'll be a

32:42

fortitude save Hmm

32:45

well, so for now

32:47

no fortitude save listen. I'm good in the second

32:49

half. What can I say? All

32:54

right, yes Calypso's turn I

32:56

got a four which it looks like I'm doing rope

32:58

work Yes,

33:01

as opposed to line work Rope

33:04

work is just coiling and

33:07

stowing ropes. So it's a

33:10

lot easier than the hauling line So

33:14

I just need a sailing lore

33:16

or acrobatics check from you Well,

33:18

let me take a little look see here my

33:21

acrobatics the plus four my sailing lures plus four

33:23

But it looks like the lore is easier.

33:25

So we're gonna fill or For

33:27

listeners ropes are pre lines or post

33:29

lines All

33:32

lines are ropes, but not all ropes are line That's

33:36

an 18 so that's a success. Okay,

33:38

so you successfully work

33:41

through coiling ropes and

33:43

storing them and repairing

33:46

them after after

33:48

this storm Clips of

33:50

like maybe I should have been a rigger All

33:53

right, let's get Grady's Task

33:56

next all in a day's

33:58

work. Oh, I rolled a six

34:00

I've got main sail duties.

34:02

Oof. So you're raising

34:05

and lowering the main sail. You don't have

34:07

to go up anywhere, but this is difficult

34:09

work. My guess is lowering

34:11

the main sail. Yeah, I don't think

34:13

we'd be raising it. I like this.

34:15

Okay, so sailing lower or athletics check?

34:18

Sailing lower is a three for me, athletics is a

34:20

four, so I think I'm going to roll sailing lower.

34:23

Twenty total. All right. You

34:25

successfully completed the task, however, this

34:28

task is backbreaking, so it does

34:30

require a fortitude save. Ah, I'm

34:32

too old for this, and I fail. Okay,

34:36

so you are fatigued. Gruling.

34:40

So yeah, you see Grady lowering

34:42

the main sail, and you hear

34:44

an uncharacteristic creaker crack coming from

34:47

his back. Not

34:50

doing so well hunched over, breathing

34:52

heavy. I only

34:54

got a couple more storms left in me before

34:56

I, before I fade from this mortal coil. Let's

34:59

have Kaya roll on the table next. Kaya's going

35:02

to throw another piece of silver

35:04

overboard. Mighty Buzz

35:06

Maro, give me strength. You

35:12

get put back in the upper rigging. What?

35:16

Maybe, maybe Scourge saw you struggle and

35:18

sent you back up there. As

35:21

Kaya goes up there, Atlas gives her a

35:23

look. I am sorry, my friend. I

35:26

was not cut out before it, but maybe you. I

35:29

will give it my best shot. Go ahead and give

35:32

me an athletics check to get up there. All

35:34

right, that's a seventeen. Okay, you make

35:36

it up. Now I'm going to

35:38

need a sailing lower or an acrobatics check. I'm

35:41

going to go with sailing lower again. Oh,

35:44

closer this time, a nine. Okay,

35:47

keep track of your failures here.

35:49

I've got two. So

35:51

yeah, Kaya, once again kind of

35:53

intimidated by the height of the whole thing and the

35:55

swaying of the ship. Doesn't

35:58

do so well. In the upper rigging, finally

36:01

let's have Wit give us a

36:03

roll. All right, and you know

36:06

what? I'm feeling dangerous. Wit

36:09

is feeling dangerous. So,

36:12

Wit is not going to

36:14

work diligently, but influence someone

36:17

that we haven't met yet. I

36:19

mean, it's a crowded

36:21

place. Everyone's in the rigging, so you

36:25

can certainly influence somebody. Let's see what

36:27

you get on the table. You're

36:31

in main sail duties too. All

36:33

right. So I'm going

36:35

to need either a sailing war or

36:38

an athletics. That will definitely be athletic.

36:41

You can roll on that DC. You're

36:43

going to be rolling at a minus two

36:45

circumstance penalty, because you're not

36:47

working diligently. Oh boy, that

36:51

comes out to a 10. Okay,

36:54

mark that failure down. You

36:56

are not doing so well, helping

37:00

your other crewmates lower

37:03

the sail. What?

37:05

I am sorry, Grady. All these

37:08

ropes are just too high. I

37:11

physically just can't reach. Never

37:14

mind that lad. As long as we all

37:16

stay above water, we're good. I'm

37:18

going to need that fortitude save. So

37:21

I had a negative one,

37:23

because wit is already fatigued,

37:26

comes out to an 18. All

37:28

right. You're successful there.

37:31

I did not do a fortitude save. Should I

37:34

have? Not every task

37:36

requires a fortitude save. This time I'm

37:38

not making you all roll the fortitude

37:41

save after the path is done. This

37:44

is tough work. And so

37:47

to influence somebody, I'm actually going to have

37:49

you roll perception. Okay. The

37:53

11. Yeah, with an 11, you

37:56

see a lightning flash.

38:00

and grow worried for the

38:02

person in the crow's nest.

38:05

You call out to them and

38:08

you see that up in the crow's

38:10

nest is

38:12

the kind of like yellowy

38:15

half-orc that you had fought or

38:17

that had kind of, you know, you guys beat

38:19

up the other day. You

38:22

yell out worried that a

38:24

lightning strike is going to strike the

38:26

crow's nest, which startles

38:30

Jaundice Jape up there and

38:32

he jumps out of the

38:34

crow's nest and onto like the

38:37

kind of upper rigging area and

38:41

no lightning strike happens. And

38:45

he looks down at you and

38:47

scowls, but that's

38:49

about all that happens. So

38:52

you don't successfully influence him.

38:54

Yeah, the lightning conspired against

38:56

him is what he's thinking,

38:59

I guess. Yeah,

39:02

it's like we called out a false alarm

39:04

that made him jump out. Mm-hmm, lightning

39:07

took one look at this guy. Liver's not

39:09

worth the direction. Kesh,

39:11

I got that liver back to light. Now, I

39:13

want you to imagine this. You

39:16

are working through the

39:19

night and it

39:21

is pitch black on the ocean.

39:25

The only light you see is the flashes

39:27

of lightning that illuminate

39:29

the horizon beyond. We've

39:33

just been like soaked to the bone

39:35

doing manual labor for what, like 16

39:37

hours at this point? That's like all

39:39

day and through part of the night?

39:42

Like that's backbreaking work.

39:44

A lot of us way

39:46

up high in the sky, like

39:48

let's not discount that. That's just

39:51

even like holding on, not even on

39:53

solid footing. The mask rocking back like

39:55

the most swing it'll ever have on the ship

39:58

up top. Disorienting,

40:00

dehydrated. Yep, yep. Real,

40:05

real awful conditions. Pitch

40:07

Black Sea is super scary too. Yeah,

40:10

that imagery is frightening.

40:13

I need everyone to make me a perception check.

40:16

Okay. Those

40:20

of you up high get

40:22

a plus

40:25

one circumstance bonus to this. 17,

40:29

and I am not up high. 12

40:33

and I'm not up high. 16,

40:35

not up high. 13

40:38

with the bonus for being high. 13

40:40

and high. 8th

40:44

grade all over again. Well,

40:46

dude. Calypso and Wit

40:48

are the only two to notice the

40:51

rogue wave that approaches the ship.

40:57

Sending the four up and

41:00

up and up as

41:02

the ship crests, you

41:05

hear a crack of

41:08

lightning as lightning strikes

41:10

the mast. And

41:14

you hear a scream. Oh no. And

41:17

the figure fall into

41:20

the sea. What type of

41:22

scream? A high

41:24

pitched scream? A low guttural scream?

41:28

A high pitched scream. A

41:30

jaundice scream? Not a jaundice

41:32

scream. Guys, we got man

41:34

overboard. And the bell rings

41:36

out and

41:38

the call for man overboard

41:41

echoes across the ship. And

41:44

I need you all to roll for initiative as

41:48

Badger Medlar falls

41:50

overboard. I didn't

41:52

mean to manifest that. I'm sorry. I didn't mean

41:54

to. Do

41:57

we take these roles as initiative? Uh,

42:01

yeah, let's just do that. As it

42:03

turns out, I'm very mad at you, Buck. Yeah.

42:07

Yeah, I'm blaming Chris in

42:09

part for this. Hey, if

42:12

we save her, this is probably like instant

42:14

friendly though. She already was basically, right? Yeah.

42:19

Now she could be hopeful if

42:21

we save her. But we have to

42:24

save her. There's no failing. Well,

42:27

it's the ocean, right? What does that mean?

42:30

In these cases, in

42:32

the pitch black at night, the ocean wins a

42:34

lot of the time. Like a surprising time. I

42:36

think we have to win. We're fighting

42:39

against Bezmar's fury. Okay.

42:42

First act in this situation

42:44

is Calypso. Calypso, you

42:47

with the highest perception were able

42:49

to make out the scream of

42:52

Badger as she fell, avoiding

42:55

the lightning perhaps. But

42:59

falling into the black sea

43:01

below. Okay.

43:04

What can I do in a situation

43:06

like this? Well,

43:09

you were just coiling ropes. You

43:11

could perhaps try and throw a rope or give a rope to

43:13

someone else to throw, whatever

43:19

you really want to do here. Throwing

43:23

a rope to her is going to

43:25

be a ranged attack roll with

43:28

a 10-foot increment. So

43:30

right now, if you were right up against the

43:32

railing, you could toss it to her in your

43:34

first range increment. Okay. So

43:37

if I move five feet up

43:39

and then try to throw a

43:42

rope at her, and that's just

43:44

an on-range? No,

43:47

it is a ranged attack. So

43:49

think of it as a simple ranged weapon. If

43:52

you do have a fist strike on your sheet, if it's

43:54

finesse, I assume your deck is higher than your strength, so

43:56

it could just be a, yeah, a fist strike could. that

44:00

with whatever pedal did. Oh, I see. It

44:02

gives me the option of picking the strength of decks. Got

44:05

a 16 on the die

44:07

for a 21. A

44:09

21 gets the rope to her. Let's see

44:11

if she can grab on. She does

44:13

not grab on. Oh. But

44:15

the rope's floating right next to her.

44:18

Okay. Who else is on the

44:20

deck? Whit is on the deck. Atlas

44:23

is on the deck. Grady is on the deck. Kai is

44:25

the only one not on the deck. Yeah,

44:27

Whit looks pretty aquatic, huh? Yeah,

44:30

fairly. Yeah. Calypso

44:32

would like to yell to Whit. I

44:36

think that she needs someone

44:39

to help her. Can

44:41

you jump in? And

44:44

then, I guess, would I pull the rope in

44:46

and try and throw it again? Pulling

44:48

the rope in takes another action. So you moved,

44:51

you threw the rope, pulling the rope back in

44:53

will take an action. Yeah,

44:55

I guess. And then, I can

44:57

have the rope just ready in

44:59

case Whit wants to grab it

45:01

and jump in, or I can throw it again. Yeah.

45:05

Okay. Whit is up next. Whit,

45:07

you just heard that. Oh, boy. That's

45:10

a lot of pressure. See, it's how

45:12

Whit does not have a swim speed

45:16

as of right now. Maybe.

45:19

Oh, no. Before,

45:24

I just jump right in,

45:26

grab that boarding pike pole that we

45:28

found the other day, grab that,

45:31

reach it down in. I'm

45:34

going to take this rope. I'm

45:38

going to jump in after. We

45:40

got to save Badger. We got

45:42

to save Badger. Okay, hold the rope. So

45:44

you pick up the rope with one action.

45:48

Are you tying

45:50

yourself off or are you

45:52

just holding the rope? I didn't know

45:54

that that was an option to

45:56

be able to, but that is

45:58

definitely the same Stop it. And

46:02

with, as a character, it

46:05

would know that they don't have a

46:08

swim speed. So, with

46:10

jumping in, with the tie. Would

46:12

it make sense to ask, like,

46:16

Grady or Atlas, to

46:19

tie you off so that you can run

46:21

and jump off? Do

46:24

you know what I mean? Tie the other end. Because

46:26

I think you're gonna use all your actions. So

46:30

I think you should, I personally think you

46:32

should delay. Do you want to delay and have

46:35

somebody tie you off? I got good crafting, I

46:37

could tie you off so good. I

46:40

don't like how you... Oh,

46:42

you know. I'll

46:45

play my character, hold on, I'll play my character. Atlas,

46:48

tie me off and

46:50

I'm gonna tie one end to myself. I'm

46:53

gonna jump in. Grady, you

46:55

get that boarding pike. Reach us down,

46:58

help us out when you can. I

47:00

got something you might want to take

47:02

with you to land. I

47:05

have air bladders on me. I

47:09

was gonna do the same thing. I've got air

47:11

bladders too. You've also got the light cantrip. That's

47:14

true. Oh, I forgot this was at night. Well,

47:18

can you see? Yeah,

47:20

too, if you have dark vision,

47:22

you're fine. Yeah, I can't, Grady can't see anything. Low light.

47:25

I mean... If you have low light,

47:28

it's tough. It's like

47:30

pitch black in the water. Badgers

47:32

are a girl. Doesn't matter. Oh,

47:36

I only have low light. So I can light

47:38

you up and then...

47:42

Actually, I might be able to light her up. I

47:45

got a pint. Light her up. I feel like the best

47:47

thing to do... I don't get to touch anybody. The best

47:49

thing to do is light, like

47:51

if we have floatation devices or rope or

47:53

something, light that up and throw

47:55

it to her so she can see where it is and

47:58

swim to it. All right. I

48:00

think this has been a lot of discussion. All

48:03

of my, uh... All

48:05

of my, uh, our talking actions have

48:08

been used up for sure. But

48:11

overall, wit is going to

48:13

delay until the rope is

48:15

tied off and get air

48:17

bladders. And

48:28

a light. And the

48:30

rope in went. Okay.

48:32

So we'll have wit delay

48:34

potentially until after Atlas. We'll

48:36

see. Which means

48:38

Kaya is up. Now

48:41

one thing I want to note to you, Emily,

48:43

a rules thing, is

48:47

that if you

48:49

do jump into water, you

48:51

treat your fall as 20 feet

48:53

shorter. Oh,

48:56

so then it would only be like I'm 30 feet up

48:58

in the air. Yeah.

49:01

Yes. But,

49:04

in Tu'a, you take half of the

49:06

feet of fall damage for anything over

49:08

10 feet. So it would be 15

49:10

points of damage potentially. She was almost

49:12

unconscious. But you could, you know, theoretically

49:14

you could climb down a bit and

49:16

then jump, you know, you have options

49:18

here. Or don't jump at all.

49:20

It's just going to take you a little bit

49:22

of time to climb down 50 feet. Yeah. And

49:26

Kaya does have a harpoon

49:32

strapped to her. And I'm not going

49:34

to throw the harpoon in, but

49:36

would it be possible to climb

49:39

down, wedge

49:41

the harpoon into whatever

49:44

wooden surface she's near, like one

49:46

of the mats, and

49:49

then tie herself to

49:52

the other end of the harpoon with the

49:54

rope so that, I'm guessing

49:56

that would be three actions. Then next

49:58

turn, she could jump. That

50:00

would certainly be possible, what I

50:03

will offer to you, so you can certainly do

50:05

that. Or, if you have

50:07

the harpoon in hand, and you

50:09

tie yourself off, I'll

50:11

allow you to attempt to

50:13

essentially arrest your fall by

50:16

wedging the harpoon in the

50:19

mast. So

50:22

it would act like a grab-a-ledge,

50:25

which essentially reduces the

50:28

fall damage. Let me

50:30

read up on grab-a-ledge here real quick. Or

50:33

grab-a-edge, rather. So, with

50:36

grab-a-edge, when you fall off

50:39

or past an edge or other handhold, you

50:41

can try to grab it, potentially

50:43

stopping your fall. You may succeed at

50:45

a reflex save, usually at the climb

50:47

DC. If you grab the

50:49

edge or handhold, you can then climb

50:51

up using athletics. So, on a critical

50:54

success, you can do it whether

50:56

or not you have hands-free. You

51:01

take damage from the distance fallen so

51:03

far, but you treat the fall as

51:05

though it were 30 feet shorter. On

51:08

a success, you treat it as though it

51:10

was 20 feet shorter. Wow.

51:12

And on a crit failure, you

51:14

kind of like hurt yourself on the fall. So

51:16

like you hurt yourself more than the fall. But

51:19

essentially, what this would allow you to do is

51:22

jump down, and when you're like

51:25

20 feet

51:27

or so, slam

51:29

that harpoon into

51:32

the mast,

51:35

slowing your fall, and

51:38

then continue the fall into the water. If

51:41

you critically succeed, you essentially

51:43

would take no damage, because

51:46

you'd fall 30 feet. That

51:49

would be negated, and then you'd

51:51

fall another 20 into water. But

51:54

if you succeed, you'll take a little bit

51:56

of damage, and then if you

51:58

fail outright, you're going to take. the

52:01

15 points of damage that we talked about, but

52:03

you'll still be connected to the mast. So if

52:05

you wanted to take that risk, that is an

52:07

option which will allow you to have another action

52:09

while you're in the water. But

52:12

if you critically fail though... If you critically fail,

52:14

you're not even gonna land in the water, you're

52:17

gonna land on the deck and it's gonna hurt.

52:19

Oh, okay. That's... It's gonna really

52:21

hurt. That's the other thing... Landing in the

52:23

water and beacon. Essentially what happens if you

52:26

critically fail is you wedge that thing into

52:28

the mast and like smack your chin on

52:30

it. Taking extra damage and

52:32

continuing to fall. That

52:37

does not sound fun, but losing

52:41

someone overboard in the middle

52:43

of a storm is super dangerous and

52:46

if we don't catch her quickly, we're

52:49

gonna be too far and we'll never see

52:52

her again. So from

52:55

her vantage point, Tia's looking down

52:58

and she's

53:00

gonna take that risk. So

53:03

she's quickly... she ties herself to

53:05

the end of her harpoon. Okay,

53:10

that's one action. And

53:14

then she... weeps. If

53:17

all is a free action, but it's gonna be an

53:19

action. It's like normally

53:21

it would be a reaction to grab the

53:24

ledge. I'm gonna say since you're like doing

53:26

it as an action to wedge this into

53:28

the mast, it's gonna cost an action instead

53:30

of a reaction here, but then you'll have

53:33

an action when you hit the water. Kaya

53:35

does have uncanny agility

53:38

and steady balance. So

53:41

this allows her to use

53:43

an acrobatics check instead of a

53:45

reflex save. Just grab an edge. They're

53:48

the same so it doesn't really matter, but

53:50

as she progresses that might be better. Okay,

53:53

let's see how you do. Alright,

53:55

I'm just gonna roll that reflex

53:57

save. Alright, that's a 22. 22

54:01

is a success so you negate 40

54:03

of the 50 feet

54:06

of falling damage taking five

54:08

damage attached to

54:11

the ship and landing

54:14

in the water off like

54:16

just off of the

54:18

deck of the ship. Your

54:21

party members hear a

54:23

splash and see

54:25

a rope kind of connecting you know

54:28

ten feet up on the on the

54:30

mast to

54:33

a harpoon shoved into the wood there

54:35

and I'm gonna give you a hero

54:37

point for doing that. Yeah

54:41

that was hero points. Sometimes

54:47

you give them out for being heroic. And

54:51

Kaya is a wave diver

54:54

Tengu so she has a

54:56

swim speed. She has

54:58

a swim speed however the

55:01

water is so choppy I need

55:03

you to make me an athletics

55:05

check. However you have

55:07

a plus four circumstance bonus because you

55:09

have a swim speed. Big

55:12

number. Would this have

55:14

the water trait or would

55:17

that... all right so her

55:19

wax feathers are streaming the water off of

55:21

her and she would get a plus one

55:24

circumstance bonus but if she gets

55:27

a... I

55:29

think the other ones are circumstance bonuses as well

55:31

so they won't stack. Yes it

55:33

is. The plus four is massive.

55:37

You never see plus four. Well she is

55:39

gonna try to swim over to

55:41

our friend.

55:43

All right and then

55:46

who at a plus

55:48

11 for athletics. That

55:50

is a 22 with the bonus. Now what's your

55:53

original life? Oh boy. So

55:55

you can move. You

56:00

can swim. Your full swim

56:02

speed. You succeeded here. Normally

56:04

it would be a perception check to

56:06

seek though. Ah, so I

56:09

don't know where she's at. You're not sure

56:11

where she's at. She could be like hidden to you. I

56:13

need light. Oh, I

56:16

know what I'm doing this turn. I'm gonna

56:18

say you have... Because everyone

56:20

kind of has imprecise hearing,

56:23

you know? So I'm gonna say you could

56:25

definitely like hear her garbled

56:27

calling for help and splashing

56:31

away from the ship. So you know to go that

56:33

direction. Hire move

56:36

maybe 15 feet in a random

56:38

direction out away from the ship then. OK,

56:42

because her swim speed is 15 feet. She

56:44

knows she's not. Right

56:47

next to the ship, so does

56:49

she have she does the rope? She's got the rope

56:51

attached to her. So that was that was her first

56:53

action was tying the rope off to herself. I'll make

56:56

sure. That's

56:58

why she's implanted in the mast. I

57:01

was getting worried about her swimming just like 15 feet. So

57:04

I guess there's five directions that

57:07

Kaya could go in. I

57:11

would say you're going to go. Any

57:14

of these, any of the

57:17

three bayous, so you're going

57:19

to go. Sorry, you're going to go here, here or here.

57:22

You hear that she's away from the ship, so

57:24

you know you won't go. Like along the ship,

57:27

so just give me a high medium

57:29

low high will be to the left.

57:31

Medium will be straight up and low

57:34

will be to the right low.

57:39

OK, so I'm going to say you move 15 feet

57:42

out here and you can now feel like

57:44

the splashing from someone else like very close

57:46

to you. You know, even with

57:48

low light, you can sense Badger is right.

57:50

Right. Right. I'm going to call out. I

57:53

think that's the best outcome. That that really

57:55

is Kaya was swimming

57:58

fairly well. considering

58:00

the condition. And as

58:03

she keeps her head above the waves, she calls

58:05

out, I'm here to

58:07

help. Grab on if you can. It

58:10

is Atlas's turn now. All

58:13

right, so I need to light up this

58:15

joint. Yeah. I

58:19

only have low light vision myself. So

58:23

I'll certainly allow you to seek.

58:27

You know what direction they're in. Sure.

58:30

Yeah. I'm sorry guys. I

58:34

completely misread my sheet. I

58:36

actually have dark vision. So

58:38

sorry guys. Oh,

58:41

but yeah, that I don't think it would

58:43

change anything. But I did. I

58:45

was gonna say, if you draw an air bladder and

58:47

cast light on it, you could then see them or

58:49

someone could take the air bladder from you and try

58:51

to throw it to them. I don't

58:53

know if that don't, you might have other things in mind though. No,

58:57

I think that makes sense. We could

58:59

essentially throw it now that Kaya's in

59:01

the water. This is

59:03

true. But we're also talking about throwing

59:05

a balloon in a 20 feet in

59:08

a storm. True.

59:11

It's the point, the point. As

59:14

much as I want that to work. Can you

59:16

target the rope that's attached to Kaya?

59:18

Cause it's still attached to the ship. Her

59:22

light. I

59:26

would kick that to grass. All

59:28

right. If you think I can see that, sure.

59:30

Let's read light. Yeah, I've

59:32

got that up. So I've got 120 feet

59:36

in orb. It

59:39

sheds bright light in a 20 foot radius. Dim

59:42

for the next 20. I can

59:44

choose the color. Oh, but

59:46

you wouldn't light up the hole. Okay, so

59:49

one object of one bulk or less,

59:52

either unattended or possessed by you or

59:54

a willing ally. I would say,

59:56

Atlas, you

59:58

can certainly run up. to like

1:00:01

the edge of the ship and

1:00:03

cast light on that portion of

1:00:06

the rope. Yeah. Because you see

1:00:08

it coming down and that will

1:00:10

shed light, you know, 20 feet

1:00:12

into the water, which luckily they

1:00:15

currently are. Okay. So

1:00:18

that's what he does. Maybe

1:00:20

Whit was looking back at him to get tied

1:00:22

off, but if he sees Kaya

1:00:24

just like fall from

1:00:26

the heavens and plop into the

1:00:28

water, I'm not sure she can see

1:00:30

out there. We must make sure

1:00:32

that we don't lose two in this endeavor. And

1:00:35

he's going to slither past Whit,

1:00:38

then past Calypso, all the way

1:00:40

to the edge of the vessel,

1:00:42

looks down, sees this javelin or

1:00:44

harpoon wedged in the side

1:00:46

of this thing, ropes trailing off, and he's

1:00:48

going to light up the rope. Regular,

1:00:54

probably regular. Regular

1:00:56

light. Yeah. So

1:00:58

you guys are going to have... No, it's an emergency.

1:01:01

It's got to be red. Yeah.

1:01:03

Okay. Thank you for

1:01:05

that. Preserve our darkness. Yeah. I

1:01:07

don't want to screw over Whit here. We

1:01:10

need to get some eye patches. What

1:01:14

color is Starbird versus Port?

1:01:16

One's green, one's red. I can't remember

1:01:18

which one. It's

1:01:21

like airplane lights or maybe you ship

1:01:23

lights too. I don't know. Yeah.

1:01:26

One's red, one's green. I

1:01:29

just know that Starbird's on the right. Doesn't

1:01:31

want me to... Doesn't want to let me add

1:01:33

a light when we're in combat, unfortunately. But

1:01:37

I'll just say... It lit. There's

1:01:40

like the radius of your bright light.

1:01:42

Sweet. Fighting. I

1:01:44

changed my mind. I want it to be like

1:01:47

the very bright fluorescent

1:01:49

white flare gun

1:01:52

flare light. That's blinding in the

1:01:54

dark. Okay. Now

1:01:57

I have... Having

1:01:59

delayed. after Atlas do you want

1:02:01

to go or do you want to continue the

1:02:04

delay? Would it be a further

1:02:06

action to to grab

1:02:08

that air bladder? Or

1:02:11

I guess would Grady have

1:02:13

that air bladder available to

1:02:15

grab and assist

1:02:17

with? Not at this time though I haven't

1:02:19

drawn it yet. What

1:02:23

you would know is

1:02:25

that in

1:02:27

order to help them on you could

1:02:32

impart a bonus to the athletics roles that

1:02:34

are gonna have to be rolled here by

1:02:38

pulling on the rope. So

1:02:42

if you wanted to run up and start you know

1:02:44

trying to reel them in, what

1:02:49

I would say is you might want

1:02:51

to like run up and ready in

1:02:54

action to start pulling because Kaya hasn't

1:02:56

made any indication that like you you

1:02:58

see them both floating there they're not like in a lock. Can

1:03:01

Wit use an action

1:03:07

to seek if Badger

1:03:10

can also

1:03:12

swim? Is she drunk? I

1:03:14

don't need you to seek to see that her

1:03:16

head is above water because you have vision you

1:03:18

have dark vision and the light is now there

1:03:20

you can just see that she's above

1:03:23

water I mean they're

1:03:25

both struggling in this. Got

1:03:28

it. Okay then with

1:03:30

that Wit is going to

1:03:32

get ready by the

1:03:35

by the railing and

1:03:38

hold on to that rope whenever you're

1:03:40

ready Kaya give

1:03:43

the word and I'll pull

1:03:45

you both right back in. Bhezmara

1:03:47

ain't taking y'all today.

1:03:50

Okay great it's your turn. Okay

1:03:54

I don't know how useful actually throwing even like

1:03:56

an uninflated air bladder out to them is gonna

1:03:58

be because you're gonna be so. spend time to

1:04:00

inflate it versus like spending

1:04:02

time to hold on to each other and

1:04:04

get pulled in. So Grady

1:04:07

will also move up to the

1:04:09

rope and kind of as

1:04:11

a fail safe also ready to pull it

1:04:13

in just in case. So we got two

1:04:15

people on the rope basically. Okay.

1:04:20

It is Badger's turn. She

1:04:24

does grab on to you. Kayab,

1:04:27

look the surf is

1:04:31

strong. The

1:04:33

two of you are swept 20 feet.

1:04:39

Uh oh. Oh

1:04:42

no. Oh no. No. It's

1:04:47

really bad. Into the water. So you're

1:04:51

now 30 feet away from

1:04:53

the wormwood. And

1:04:57

at this point, Kaya, you

1:05:00

feel something big. No.

1:05:05

Oh no. Because you're in that wildlife. Briefly,

1:05:09

but and it

1:05:12

seems to like swim right past

1:05:14

you. And then

1:05:17

you can just make it out as it

1:05:19

passes and surfaces. I

1:05:22

don't like the fear of this. I know. As

1:05:24

a fin, press

1:05:27

the surface of the water, the fin

1:05:29

itself, maybe a foot tall

1:05:33

and swims away from you. Now

1:05:36

is really not a good time for a

1:05:39

swim. Is

1:05:42

the art indicative of the actual

1:05:44

creature? Did you just need something with

1:05:46

a big old fin? Because that's

1:05:48

a hammerhead shark. That's indicative of

1:05:50

the actual creature. Oh

1:05:52

boy. A big

1:05:57

hammerhead. 10 or

1:05:59

11 feet. When

1:06:01

you're a hammerhead, anything in the water looks like a

1:06:03

nail head. I

1:06:07

think the more important part is that as

1:06:10

they've been swept away, they're out of the

1:06:12

light. Fortunately,

1:06:17

they're in dim light, so anyone with low light

1:06:19

can still see them. The

1:06:21

dim light extends 40 feet,

1:06:24

so I think that's everybody.

1:06:27

Does Grady have dim? He

1:06:29

does not even have low light vision. Oh

1:06:32

boy. So Grady loses sight of them,

1:06:34

but the rest of you can

1:06:36

still make them out. That looks great, he's doing

1:06:38

his job before. There's

1:06:41

lights on the ship. And I think

1:06:43

at this point, Kaya, you might squawk that

1:06:46

as she's grabbed hold. Yes, I

1:06:48

guess as a free action, Kaya's

1:06:50

gonna call out, We're

1:06:52

ready to be pulled in now, and

1:06:55

we're not alone. Okay.

1:06:59

Are you using a reaction then? So

1:07:01

your reactions are now, you are pulling.

1:07:06

What you're pulling is going to do is

1:07:09

it's going to add both, so

1:07:12

anyone that is pulling, up to three of you,

1:07:15

will add your strength

1:07:17

modifiers to Kaya's athletics to

1:07:20

get out of here.

1:07:24

So you have to be actively pulling to impart

1:07:26

this bonus, but

1:07:28

it'll add your modifier to her role. It

1:07:30

doesn't move them closer at all, it just gives them a...

1:07:32

It doesn't move them closer, that's gonna be on Kaya to

1:07:34

do. Good thing she's a

1:07:36

strong bird. Oh

1:07:38

yeah, Wit is just

1:07:42

using those girthy quads

1:07:45

up against the railing and

1:07:49

pushing up against them using

1:07:51

that leverage. Okay,

1:07:54

Kaya it's your turn. Oh,

1:07:56

alright. Kaya looks around

1:07:58

and sees that there's... Nothing immediately

1:08:01

right around her, but

1:08:03

that shark does not look like it went too far

1:08:07

So she's gonna start Moving

1:08:10

back towards the ship just following

1:08:12

the rope back. Okay, so

1:08:14

I'm gonna need an athletics

1:08:17

check now remember

1:08:19

you're at a plus four because

1:08:21

you're a swimmer

1:08:24

You're getting what is the bonus she's getting from

1:08:26

each of you? plus three

1:08:30

Three plus one plus one so

1:08:32

you're a cumulative plus eight however

1:08:37

You're hauling badger as well So

1:08:41

that's gonna likely limit the

1:08:43

speed at which yeah, I have a 15 foot

1:08:47

swim speed and Yeah,

1:08:49

trying to hold on to badger and

1:08:52

pull her along We're

1:08:54

gonna say that because she's in water.

1:08:56

She's not like Super

1:08:59

heavy, but again you are you are Trying

1:09:03

to stay above water. So I

1:09:05

think you're encumbered. All right Mechanically,

1:09:09

how do I factor that in? Oh,

1:09:11

wow, that's bad Yes,

1:09:13

so while you're encumbered you are

1:09:16

clumsy one and take a 10

1:09:18

foot penalty to your sp. I see Now

1:09:22

let's get some athletic. Oh, all right. Here we

1:09:24

go So I'm gonna need one

1:09:26

for each time you move so you're gonna be making three.

1:09:29

All right. Here we go. Here's the first one That's

1:09:32

a 26 26

1:09:34

you're able to drag yourselves up

1:09:37

five feet. All

1:09:39

right, gonna try that again at

1:09:42

the 24 Another

1:09:46

five feet She's

1:09:51

a good swimmer, but this has got to be

1:09:54

mighty tiring. Oh

1:09:56

a 32. That's a critical success So I'm

1:09:58

gonna say you're able to move up Back

1:10:01

of the light. Very generous. The important

1:10:03

thing is that you now have allies

1:10:05

holding the rope and so for this

1:10:08

round you don't think you're going much

1:10:10

further away from the ship as

1:10:13

long as you have people holding on. Wait,

1:10:16

where was I? Hey, you're not even in the ship. Yeah. Oh

1:10:19

no, yeah, Kalista was up top, sorry. Yeah, sorry. What was

1:10:21

Kalista down? I was like, I want Kaias going. I'm

1:10:24

not even in the ship. I'm not even in the ship. I'm

1:10:26

not even in the ship. Yeah. Oh no,

1:10:28

Kalista was up top, sorry. Yeah, sorry. I was like, I'm

1:10:30

going to go with the rope. I was like, I'm going to go with the spirit. I

1:10:33

mean, all

1:10:35

I mean, I was going to help with the rope,

1:10:37

but I actually don't have strength. So once I heard

1:10:39

that, that doesn't help much. I

1:10:41

didn't know if there's anything else. Like I have

1:10:43

a zero strength modifier. Yeah, so you're not

1:10:46

going to help there. I do nothing. You

1:10:48

inspire for when the shark eventually swings around.

1:10:51

Yeah, I think that'll be

1:10:53

good. I'm timely. I'm going to just start inspiring. I

1:10:56

might as well do a

1:10:58

lingering composition

1:11:00

attempt as well. I

1:11:06

got so involved in seeing if Kaias was

1:11:08

going to come in that I also thought

1:11:10

about myself. That's only a 12

1:11:13

on performance. Unfortunately, a 12

1:11:15

doesn't linger. That's fine. So

1:11:17

I will just inspire. You

1:11:19

guys can drag the spell effect of

1:11:22

inspired courage on. Since

1:11:26

I don't think putting the emanation will do anything

1:11:28

for you guys. So you can put

1:11:30

that on yourself and then. Hi.

1:11:37

Now she's within 30

1:11:39

feet of me. So

1:11:42

I'm going to also cast guidance. Thank you.

1:11:46

Anything else you want to do? You got one more action. Yeah,

1:11:49

I guess I do. But

1:11:51

I. I'll

1:11:55

give guidance to Badger. Don't

1:11:58

know if that would do anything, but. I'll

1:12:00

do that. Okay. Atlas. I

1:12:04

did the math and the

1:12:06

shark is five feet out of the dim light

1:12:08

radius because I was going to start taking hot

1:12:10

shots at that thing. I'm

1:12:13

scared off. But unfortunately, the shark

1:12:16

has crested behind a wave and Atlas

1:12:18

can't see him at all. So

1:12:21

I think the only thing really to do at

1:12:23

this point is try

1:12:25

to also aid with

1:12:28

my strength because I do have

1:12:30

a plus one strength modifier. So

1:12:34

remind me what do I have to do to prepare for

1:12:36

that Griff? Is that just for the action? You just

1:12:38

gotta grab onto the rope and start pulling. Alright then.

1:12:41

You could certainly like if you had a spell you

1:12:43

wanted to cast, you could cast something and then grab

1:12:45

on. You're right by the railing so you're right next

1:12:47

to the rope. Yeah. As

1:12:50

long as you guys spend one action

1:12:52

pulling the rope from now on, you're

1:12:54

imparting that bonus and keeping her from

1:12:56

floating away. Alright. I

1:12:59

don't really have a spell that I want to cast until

1:13:01

I can see that shark. But I'll

1:13:04

grab that rope and help how I can. So

1:13:06

that's an extra one little

1:13:08

point there. Okay. Great.

1:13:11

Oof. With Atlas

1:13:15

having grabbed on. Man.

1:13:19

Grady, if there's one of those

1:13:22

bombs that we found one of

1:13:24

the other, the other day, maybe

1:13:27

one of those just out there in

1:13:29

the water might scare it off. But

1:13:31

if it comes around, I think

1:13:34

I gotta be prepared to

1:13:37

take this thing on or at least throw

1:13:40

my trident here at it. And

1:13:43

Whit is going to drop the

1:13:45

rope and hunt prey

1:13:48

on this shark

1:13:51

and prepare. Hunt

1:13:54

prey have a range. You

1:13:58

can see the shark. I see

1:14:00

anywhere in hunt prey as

1:14:03

long as you can see

1:14:05

or hear or track

1:14:08

during the exploration. Okay,

1:14:11

then you're good. You can hunt prey on the shark.

1:14:14

Perfect. And so then

1:14:16

Wit will ready

1:14:19

an action to throw a trident

1:14:21

at this shark

1:14:24

if it comes within range.

1:14:26

Grady. Okay.

1:14:29

Grady will spend that action on the rope like they're

1:14:31

looking for like a horn cleat or something to like

1:14:33

tie a piece of the rope off, a

1:14:36

section of the rope off

1:14:38

on to secure them a bit. And

1:14:42

hearing other people talk about something

1:14:44

else in the water. I don't know if he's seen the

1:14:46

fin or not, but I think

1:14:49

he might spend too much just to ready an action to, if he

1:14:52

sees it come into view in the

1:14:55

light, throw like

1:14:57

a ship nail or something at it. Okay.

1:15:01

Everyone's not dropping the rope though, right?

1:15:04

Right. I mean, they're... Okay. Well,

1:15:06

we had to, but Grady's like holding on with

1:15:08

one hand and has a ship nail and the

1:15:11

other kind of ready. So I was like looking

1:15:13

for like a length of rope to like tie

1:15:15

it off on a cleat or something too to

1:15:17

like anchor it then. Yeah.

1:15:20

I just wanted to be able

1:15:22

to still keep giving the bonus

1:15:24

of Shikaya and that's why I was like very, very

1:15:26

helpful. Yeah. Chris,

1:15:29

I thought you picked up a... A

1:15:33

holy water. I got a holy water. You

1:15:36

have holy water in tanglefoot bags. Don't

1:15:40

do too much against your shark, but... Yeah.

1:15:43

Holy water in the sea might... Hey,

1:15:47

what do they say? Just a drop

1:15:49

of holy water at another water source.

1:15:51

The entire sea becomes holy. Calypso

1:15:55

can't get in the water anymore. I don't want to

1:15:57

see any devil or demon fish. It's never in the...

1:16:00

venture after I tossed this holy water

1:16:03

into the deep. We'll save ourselves

1:16:05

trouble. Yeah. It is

1:16:07

Badger's turn. She's gonna

1:16:11

try and help, try

1:16:13

and aid Kaya here with the athletics.

1:16:20

And are you gonna use your guidance? I didn't have

1:16:22

to. She does aid with a

1:16:24

23, but she doesn't

1:16:28

have a swim speed, so she's

1:16:30

not really much helping getting you guys closer.

1:16:34

Next in the order is the shark.

1:16:38

And the shark is going to

1:16:40

move up

1:16:43

behind Kaya and

1:16:45

Badger, which will trigger the

1:16:47

ready to actions of both

1:16:49

Grady and Wit

1:16:52

as, I mean this is

1:16:55

terrifying, but you see like the

1:16:57

hammerhead rise above the water and

1:17:00

the mouth open like right behind

1:17:02

you, Kaya. Oh no. Oh,

1:17:06

and I imagine its eyes are

1:17:09

reflective from the light that's casting.

1:17:11

And so there's just glowing eyes

1:17:13

coming towards us. Oh,

1:17:16

at least it's a target to hit. Here

1:17:18

I go with a big

1:17:21

old nail I'm throwing out

1:17:23

at it. Looks like I'm taking

1:17:25

a range penalty because I'm like above the

1:17:27

water and 20 feet out. Oh,

1:17:31

natural one. That's a myth. Remember

1:17:34

to apply your precision damage if

1:17:36

you hit Wit. Because this is

1:17:39

your hunted prey. Oh yeah.

1:17:42

Oh baby. It would

1:17:44

end up being a 20 total. 20

1:17:48

total hits. Let him roll some

1:17:50

damage. That is 15. Dang.

1:17:56

Lots of damage on the shark.

1:17:59

It is going to be Bite Kaia. Oh,

1:18:01

of course. 22,

1:18:04

looks like it will hit. Bad it will.

1:18:07

It's used to picking off birds on the surface of

1:18:09

the water. Oh yeah, I'm an easy target.

1:18:13

Dealing nine points of damage. Ouch.

1:18:16

So it chomps into your

1:18:18

shoulder, Kaia, but then you

1:18:21

see this trident just sail

1:18:23

over both your and Badger's

1:18:25

heads and sink into its

1:18:27

right eye, and it

1:18:29

makes that almost inaudible shriek

1:18:33

over the sound of the storm, and

1:18:35

with its final action, swims off.

1:18:39

Say goodbye to that trident. Bye

1:18:42

trident. Kaia

1:18:45

will buy you a new one. Try it in true.

1:18:50

A lot. Calypso is up next. And

1:18:54

there's no shark that I can

1:18:56

see, right? You

1:18:59

can see the shark. You saw

1:19:01

it swim up, bite Kaia, and

1:19:03

get hit, and then it swam

1:19:05

away. But you can still see it

1:19:08

in the dim light. Okay. I

1:19:10

have nothing that's gonna reach it, so

1:19:13

I can just continue inspiring.

1:19:16

You can guidance and you can do it. Any

1:19:18

of the others, too, if you wanted to. Sure,

1:19:21

I'll guidance, I'll guidance with,

1:19:23

I'll inspire courage, and then

1:19:25

I'll guidance, Atlas.

1:19:30

Sorry, not Grady, because I figured Atlas has to

1:19:32

go. Makes sense. Oh, yeah. All

1:19:35

right, Kaia, you're now rolling

1:19:37

at a plus six.

1:19:41

All right. I think you have the

1:19:43

plus four, and then plus one from Grady,

1:19:45

and plus one from Atlas. Kaia

1:19:47

is in the water, and she has lost

1:19:49

a lot of her feathers, and there is

1:19:52

blood spreading out around

1:19:54

her. She's a little worried

1:19:57

the shark is gonna come back for

1:19:59

another bite. Can I

1:20:03

lay on hand to heal

1:20:05

myself while in the water? I

1:20:07

think I would have a free hand. Yeah,

1:20:09

you can. Okay. You're tied

1:20:11

to the rope, so you're only on hand

1:20:14

maybe holding on to Badger.

1:20:17

Perfect. So, Kaya

1:20:22

says a quick prayer to Bismara

1:20:25

and heals six

1:20:28

points. She feels a little

1:20:30

bit better now, and

1:20:33

then we'll continue

1:20:36

swimming forward. Okay. I'm

1:20:38

going to need two athletics checks. All

1:20:40

right. Plus six.

1:20:43

Well, an additional plus six. That's a

1:20:46

22. 22 does move, yeah.

1:20:49

All right. And then this next one, I'm

1:20:51

going to use my guidance. Oh,

1:20:54

and I needed it maybe because that's only

1:20:56

a 16. Unfortunately, even

1:20:58

with the guidance, you aren't able to

1:21:01

swim forward, but you don't lose any

1:21:03

progress. It's now Atlas's turn.

1:21:06

Great. The shark has

1:21:08

retreated a little bit, but I don't

1:21:10

know if it's gone for good. It

1:21:12

is still within the dim

1:21:14

light range of my light cantrip

1:21:16

from a couple rounds ago. I'd

1:21:19

love to dip into psyche territory and

1:21:21

bump my damage up a little bit.

1:21:23

I didn't cast a spell last round.

1:21:26

So Atlas is going to spy

1:21:28

the shark still kind of

1:21:30

circling in the back as

1:21:34

he reaches his hands up, and

1:21:37

you see the trademark cracking

1:21:39

of reality like glass around

1:21:41

him, and he slings a

1:21:43

shard towards this here

1:21:46

shark with a telekinetic

1:21:49

projectile cantrip here. Got

1:21:53

to go ahead and do an attack roll. That's

1:21:56

my encourage. 23

1:22:00

will hit. Alright. Decent

1:22:03

damage there, that's 9. 9

1:22:07

damage. And

1:22:09

you see the shark kind of

1:22:11

sink beneath the line. Oh,

1:22:14

yes! Belly up. That's

1:22:18

good meat. Are we gonna have some shark

1:22:20

fin soup? I'm

1:22:23

not swimming out for the shark. No.

1:22:27

We got a harpoon? There's other sharks. There's

1:22:29

other sharks that's in great distraction. After you

1:22:31

come in, we'll use that harpoon. We

1:22:34

won't take it off the mast just yet. Oh,

1:22:37

thank you for that. Yeah,

1:22:40

as Atlas slings this thing, it slices the

1:22:42

shark and the shark goes limp. It starts

1:22:45

to just kind of slope there on the waves. He

1:22:48

turns to, says, you're

1:22:50

going to want to call your friend Ambrose up here.

1:22:53

Catch of the day. Hammerhead. And

1:22:57

then I guess with the remaining action, I'll grab

1:22:59

the rope to maintain my plus one bonus to

1:23:01

my friend Kaya in the water. Sounds

1:23:03

good. It's Whit's turn. Oh,

1:23:06

yeah. Whit is going to

1:23:08

grab the rope to give

1:23:11

Kaya a bonus. And

1:23:16

since there isn't a threat in

1:23:18

the water, I think

1:23:22

that is the most, I

1:23:25

think that's the most hopeful thing to

1:23:27

do at the moment. How about Grady?

1:23:30

Grabbing the rope. Not

1:23:33

much else I can do. All right.

1:23:35

Badger is again going to attempt to

1:23:38

assist this athletics. She

1:23:40

does. So

1:23:43

you get an eight bonus as well, Kaya.

1:23:46

I'm letting all of these stack because

1:23:49

of the situation here. Thank

1:23:51

you. All right. It's

1:23:55

Calypso's turn. Yeah,

1:23:58

I can't do much. Uh,

1:24:00

right now, so I'm gonna inspire courage

1:24:02

again, just for funsies in case anything

1:24:04

happens. And you know what? I'm

1:24:07

gonna give Grady guidance. Yay.

1:24:10

Okay. Kaya,

1:24:12

you're up. Alright. She

1:24:15

is feeling more confident

1:24:17

with the shark gone and her

1:24:19

allies help. So

1:24:22

she just tries to move on up to the

1:24:24

ship. We're so close now. Oh,

1:24:26

with a 19 on the dive, that's

1:24:29

a 35 with all of the aids. Yes,

1:24:32

with a 35. You

1:24:34

make it up to the ship and begin to

1:24:36

climb. You are

1:24:38

maybe five feet

1:24:40

out of the water. I just need one

1:24:42

more athletics check this time without the plus

1:24:45

four to get yourself on

1:24:49

board. Do I still get

1:24:51

the strength bonuses? Yes, you

1:24:53

still get all of that bonus. Oh,

1:24:55

only an 18. 18.

1:24:58

You kind of hang there. You have one more action. She

1:25:02

tries one more time

1:25:05

and she throws all of

1:25:07

her effort into pushing

1:25:09

her and Badger up

1:25:11

and over the rail of the ship. Oh,

1:25:14

but she is just exhausted at this point and

1:25:16

that's only a 15. Yeah,

1:25:19

with a 15. Fortunately, you've gotten

1:25:21

yourself up to a

1:25:23

grabbing distance. However,

1:25:26

you're not all the way on

1:25:28

board. So your allies could certainly

1:25:30

attempt athletics to pull you up.

1:25:32

And I'm going to let you

1:25:35

guys do that. Atlas,

1:25:37

if you want to try an athletics, you can

1:25:39

go ahead. Might as well. Yeah,

1:25:43

you don't even grab them. I'm

1:25:46

just so happy with killing

1:25:48

this shark that was probably running away. I

1:25:52

guess this is a full three

1:25:55

action turn. There's a natural 20. close

1:26:00

enough and Atlas kind of like

1:26:02

wraps his tail around the railing,

1:26:04

reaches down and pulls

1:26:06

you up one by one

1:26:08

and you

1:26:12

collapse on the deck exhausted.

1:26:19

I need you to cough up your seawater. Just

1:26:22

leave it next week. Yeah. Oh boy.

1:26:26

Oh, we did it. Atlas
