Megan Phelps-Roper is a social media activist, lobbying to overcome divisions and hatred between religious and political divides. Formerly a prominent member of the Westboro Baptist Church, she left the church with her sister Grace in November 2012.
Megan Phelps-Roper was a member of the Westboro Baptist Church, but she left. She sat down with Joe and over 2 and a half hours they went in-depth about the experience and what it was like to be inside the church, and now what it's like to view it from the outside. This is classic JRE where Joe asks every question imaginable and the guest is an open book. One of his best podcast episodes.
This is such a powerful episode. Listening to such an articulate/rational person describing her experiences with WBC shows the power of the brain to conform and bend to ideology. Also an interesting lesson on first amendment rights.
It was an incredible interview. This was one of the first Rogan shows I'd watched/listened to and it's smart, thoughtful, and really emotionally genuine.
