4. What subject to choose
5. Customer is king so know your audience.
6. Preparation of the topic
7. How to present the subject well
8. Learn from the greats, including the great orators.
9. Power-points in public speaking, love them or hate them.
10. Ongoing development and how to learn from your public speaking
There are lots of different types of public speaking and many reasons why you may want to be a public speaker. Historically, it has been the key means of communicating to the masses. From even before the written word, leaders and elders have passed on the history, culture and religion though public speaking. Even in those days they have used many of the tools and techniques that are used today.
As in all endeavours, to succeed, you need to understand why you want to be a better public speaker. It may be your boss, said that you need to improve, all that you see it as a key step in your personal development. In many management interviews, they ask you to do a presentation as part of the process. When you understand why, you can move onto developing a plan to develop a specific talk.
These public speaking topics will structure your talk. If you do not have one, choose one, as this will reinforce the learning.
As always, a key step in my learning was the use of feedback, so it is great if you can find someone who can give honest and specific feedback. Whether your boss, colleague or a spouse.
Practise make perfect, so reinforce your training by finding opportunities to put elements into practise.
Whilst I add to this website, you might want to have a look at Public Speaking Superstar Book which covers all these Public Speaking Topics.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Why do people want to be public speakers.
