RATING
This show always light up my day and put a smile on my face! Sound editing and acting is fantastic. The stories are a mix of fairytales, adventures, thrillers, SciFi and noir. My go-to show.
Review of Juno Steel's universe: Juno Steel is a person that makes me feel... that makes me feel a lot, okay? It is just how can I even begin to describe how much I regret not listening sooner to it but how happy I am that it exists so unapologetically. Thank you. Thank you so much for existing, Penumbra Pod.
Juno Steel is life.
I do really love this podcast, both of the storylines are great and the actors are absolutely amazing. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars is that the sound mixing is not always great and I have to keep adjusting the volume.
Juno made me dive deep into the world of podcasts as I'd never heard someone so sassy. Not to mention, his fascination with the man from the first episode let me know I'd have an adventure.
This show has a little something for everyone and I highly recommend
Both storylines have my entire heart and the characters are by far the best part of this show, however the plot leaves nothing to be desired either! You become completely immersed in the plot and it’s almost starting when an episode ends because you felt so drawn into that world it was like you were there!
[EDIT AFTER CATCHING UP THROUGH SEASON 4]Kevin and Harley, I was SO wrong for not fully appreciating the Penumbra Podcast the first and second time around. I tried to listen to Juno Steel a few years ago and maybe something in me wasn’t fully ready for this show because I gave up about halfway through the second season. I came back to it in 2022 with a new mindset and boy oh boy did I DEVOUR this podcast. I’ve fully been swept up in both worlds created for this show and I Love everything about it. S3 of Juno and S2 of second citadel have some of the greatest and most well executed ensemble stories in audio fiction. I eagerly await every new episode and think of this podcast often throughout my day to day life :)Favorite Episodes (as of Sept. 2022)- Juno Steel and What Lies Beyond (part 1)- The Sportive Nymphs- Juno Steel and the Infernal Grind (parts 1&2)- Knight of the Crown, Lord of the Swamp- Juno Steel and the Clean Break (parts 1&2)[ORIGINAL REVIEW]This is one I’m going to have to come back to at some point. I’ve listened to a few Juno Steele stories, through the majority of season 2, but it never really grabbed my full attention like other audio dramas. I really enjoyed the Case of the Murderous Mask episodes, but after that I didn’t really care to listen more. I will revisit this review after I listen to the rest of Juno Steele and actually listen to the Second Citadel stories this time!
This was cute and the story was fun, but it ended up being just a bit too cheesy for me.
The best podcast ever!!!!!!!
The Penumbra Podcast is an AD that focuses on making stories that are heavily centered around lgbt characters. They have westerns, they have thrillers, and they have fantasy stories but what really bring people into the podcast is their Juno Steel series, a sci-fi noir that focuses on a black nb disaster. The acting is great, music is memorable, and the writing is often well done.
I keep coming back to this. Very interesting, gotta get back into this.
Extremely bingable podcast. Brilliant world building and very funny! This podcast very consistently gives me exactly what I wanted but was not expecting to actually happen at all. It's very exciting!
Top tier character dynamics and development! I'm usually very anti-noir so was a little hesitant to listen initially, but fell in love instantly. (This could be because penumbra is also apparently very anti-noir but hey!)Second Citadel took a few episodes for me to warm to (three, to be exact) but I find it utterly delightful and have been looking forward to each episode as much as I do Juno eps.
Two different stories told in tandem the scifi noir I find more enjoyable than the fantasy but both are very fun
This show is a blend of 1930s noir, sci-fi, and James-Bond-style high-octane plots. Think queer Martian Raymond Chandler. It took me a few episodes to get into it, but the characters really grow on you, and the acting and writing is excellent.
Rating for Juno Steel
All time Favorite narrative podcast out there! I’m absolutely in love with it.
I've listened to the Juno Steel story so many times and about to get started on Second Citadel. Adore this show so much!!
