This was cute and the story was fun, but it ended up being just a bit too cheesy for me.
I absolutely adore this podcast! Its an escape from the real world into a world where the evil nonbinary mayor wears six inch heels. Its funny and cute and gay and amazing
my actual favorite podcast
I keep coming back to this. Very interesting, gotta get back into this.
Oh! You think you're so clever because you follow the procedural format! Let me be clear. Juno Steel is the most underwritten and idiotic protagonist you're going to spend time with. So you've got a nonbinary enemy in Pilot Pereyra! Big deal! Nonbinary character was uninteresting. Cliched. Just like this show. Which has no business being produced.
Review of Juno Steel's universe: Juno Steel is a person that makes me feel... that makes me feel a lot, okay? It is just how can I even begin to describe how much I regret not listening sooner to it but how happy I am that it exists so unapologetically. Thank you. Thank you so much for existing, Penumbra Pod.
I do really love this podcast, both of the storylines are great and the actors are absolutely amazing. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars is that the sound mixing is not always great and I have to keep adjusting the volume.
Juno made me dive deep into the world of podcasts as I'd never heard someone so sassy. Not to mention, his fascination with the man from the first episode let me know I'd have an adventure.
I've listened to the Juno Steel story so many times and about to get started on Second Citadel. Adore this show so much!!
Both storylines have my entire heart and the characters are by far the best part of this show, however the plot leaves nothing to be desired either! You become completely immersed in the plot and it’s almost starting when an episode ends because you felt so drawn into that world it was like you were there!
Extremely bingable podcast. Brilliant world building and very funny! This podcast very consistently gives me exactly what I wanted but was not expecting to actually happen at all. It's very exciting!
The Penumbra literally has everything, so, you know, bring it into your life? Sci fi! Fantasy! Horror! All kinds of queer representation! Friendship as a love story! Angst! Jokes! Pathos! Camp! I love every wild new story and lens this show decides to give me.
One of my FAVORITE shows. The split story is so unique for a podcast, and they're both so good. I favor Juno Steel more but The Second Citadel is also amazing. Seriously, give this a listen! The acting and sound design is incredible!
The first audio drama I seriously started listening to, Penumbra is such a delightful take on queer romance, sci-fi, noir, fantasy, and all-around storytelling in general. From the moment Juno Steel met Peter Nureyev, I instantly fell in love with this rich, fun, and often deeply poignant show. There's a reason I put it #1, and it'll always have a special place in my heart in Audio Drama.
Both of the main storylines are packed with compelling, interesting, and most of all, fun characters. I've gotten really attached to a lot of the characters, and am always excited (and a little nervous) to see what the show is going to put them through as they keep going. The writing is sharp, the acting is engaging, and the world keeps expanding.
This podcast is everything my little queer heart needed. The characters are so well developed, and all the voice actors really do a great job showing off their impressive range. I appreciate the twist the writers put on a lot of tropes, as well as the clever social commentary they deliver with sharp, witty humor. Speaking of, I live for Juno Steele and their dark humor, and the knights of the Second Citadel are charmingly funny, in their clumsy yet honorable and determined way.
The Penumbra Podcast is an AD that focuses on making stories that are heavily centered around lgbt characters. They have westerns, they have thrillers, and they have fantasy stories but what really bring people into the podcast is their Juno Steel series, a sci-fi noir that focuses on a black nb disaster. The acting is great, music is memorable, and the writing is often well done.
Juno Steel is life.
This show always light up my day and put a smile on my face! Sound editing and acting is fantastic. The stories are a mix of fairytales, adventures, thrillers, SciFi and noir. My go-to show.
