The Phenomenon is an Audio Fiction telling of the day everything went wrong The moment you wake in the middle of the night to an alert that reads Don’t Look Outside, Don’t Look at the Sky, Don’t Make Noise. That’s where this story starts from multiple perspectives.Like many of the audio fiction stories I’ve covered The Phenomenon does an outstanding job with soundscape from the breath of actors as they run through a hallway packed with the footsteps echoing as the characters breath deep as they try and escape. The voice acting and range of audio backdrops from a house to a university to a bunker just to name a few. All these add to the depth of the story and make it easier to get lost imagining what these structures and characters look like.
A new take on an old threat for a sci fi/horror. Quickly captures the imagination and pulls you in.
This show is freaking amazing, from the moment it starts it will suck you in. The whole premise is clouded in mystery and I am not going to spoil anything. But the tone, voice acting, and story are all just so good. I am eagerly awaiting the start of the next season.
A unique take on a global catastrophe that starts out with an ominous warning, "Do not go outside. Do not look at the sky. Do not make noise." Talk about hooking someone right from the get go.This was one of the shows that made the wait between episodes almost painful. But completely worth the wait. If you want a different take on an apocalypse world setting, then look no farther than "The Phenomenon."
One of my all time favorite audio dramas. Chilling suspense, delicious despair, exciting action. Humanity is pretty much sunk, it's great!!
I just love this podcast!! I've never read the book, so I am totally new to the story. The story is great, scripted well and gripping. The soundscape is amazing, so well done and the acting is fabulous. This is by far the best cast I've listened to.
This was a pleasant surprise! Solid acting and fascinating story combined with tasty sound design will keep you interested. Well done!
Really scary. The dire situation forces people to make impossible choices. Fantastic voice acting and production.
This podcast sucked me in 100% and the end of season 2 was a rude shock because I had no idea I was there already! I got completely lost in the world and loved it completely! Can't wait for more!
First impressions: Intelligently written and beautifully produced. The soundscape is truly incredible. I like the range of the cast and the different perspectives we get to see.Five episodes in: I love the attention to detail in the worldbuilding. After completion of first season: Wow. This show is truly phenomenal! The world keeps getting weirder and weirder and I love it, it draws me in. I’m intrigued by the different kinds of aliens, and I love the attention spent on how humanity ensures its survival in an end-of-the-world situation.
Great show. Liked the characters and the acting. We’ll worth a listen
Wow! Great concept! Outstanding storyline.
Genuinely thrilling with very little to critique, so long as you don't mind lingering questions. I enjoyed the volume and variety of characters, though some have said this prevents most of them from being more thoroughly developed. Part of the excitement is knowing only as much as you need in order to begin thinking, 'these folks might have what it takes,' something which is almost always true. Of course, possessing the qualities of a hero turn out to matter very little in a contest with inexplicable, inescapable devastation. Fun!
Interesting monsters and mystery, but slow pacing and not believable dialogue/characters.
Very much looking forward to the newest season and the expansion of the world! So much potential.
I love it. The premise of tthe show was good at first, but then I just don't know... it got weird. However, I still recommend it :)
A great full cast audiodrama adaption of the book of the same name. Everything from the script to the acting to the sound design is all very well done and I can't wait to see what else the creators have in store!
Great cast, intriguing storyline. I ended up listening to it all in 2 days because I couldn't put it down.
A brutally engaging story outlining the immediate aftermath of an emergency alert. The rules are simple, but the characters are complex. Flying through these episodes to figure out what exactly The Phenomenon is and what it means for the survivors.
Great story, formatting, casting, and character development! Love this podcast!
