Are you dreaming of the time & money freedom your photo biz can give your family? Well you have come to the right place. In this pilot episode of The #PHOTOBESTIES Podcast, I talk all about my photography journey and how I was able to create a photography business that fit my life design so I could be home with my family and build a life I loved.

It all started in 2009, when I had a bad breakup with a boy who had a camera. That exposure lead to me into the photography world right out of college pursuing a fun and creative outlet. A few years later, I met my husband and we got married. I had thought about starting a photography business, but it wasn’t until I was fired from my first “real” job that I decided to whole-heartedly jump in.

When I first started my business, it was a slow grind. But as the years went by, I discovered that I had built an incredible business while my peers were struggling to book clients, yet alone bring in substantial income for their families. Why was I so successful?

Building Connections
If I hadn’t built incredible connections with photographers in the industry and other business owners, I would have never had the opportunities that I did then (and still do even today!).

Business Obsession
When other people were watching Netflix, in my seasons of hustle I was consuming marketing & strategy trainings. I didn’t quit even when business felt slow, and would always bring in new and innovative strategies that I learned outside of the photography industry.

Perfecting One Thing
When I was a photo biz newbie, I decided to spend my time learning SEO and working on getting my website ranked. I quickly was able to rank on the first page for “Denver Wedding Photographer,” and throughout the years, SEO brought me qualified and consistent leads and helped feed the health of my business. Even when I stopped taking photography clients, I got over 250 inquiries that year without an ounce of marketing and non-existent social media profiles because I deleted or changed them.

Are you ready to perfect one thing?
