Today’s Mindset Monday is about Enthusiasm. It’s a great topic for me in particular, since mine is sky high surrounding the launch of the Standing O Show last week. I'll talk about the importance of enthusiasm and it's definition. Enthusiasm and resilience go hand in hand as evidenced by Churchill, Edison, and Disney.  The three final points about enthusiasm: It focuses on things of value, people love to be around enthusiastic people, and enthusiasm is fun since it's the bridge to passion.

Hello, I’m your host, Marc Smith. Today is the very first Mindset Monday here on The Standing O Show! Mindset Mondays are designed to be short solo episodes focused on topics to help get our mindset right to start off the week.

Today, I’m going to talk about “enthusiasm”. It’s a great topic for me in particular, since mine is sky high surrounding the launch of the Standing O Show last week. The feedback from you, Ovation Nation, has been fantastic and I’ve been touched by the comments I’ve been receiving about the show.

The Standing O Show is about building a positive mindset AND the marketing skills needed to help you or your business get the standing O that you deserve. It’s about the inner game and the outer game of business success.

So, It’s easy for me to be enthusiastic about building a business and a show around helping you achieve a thriving life and business.

What Enthusiasm Means to Me

You know how on Facebook, it has the feature “On This Day”? Last week it showed that I posted a couple of years ago an excerpt from the novel, The Alchemist.

Paulo Coelho writes, "...there was a language in the world that everyone understood...it was the language of enthusiasm, of things accomplished with love and purpose..."

So, Enthusiasm is summed up for me by the phrase, “Do what you love and success will follow”.

It doesn’t mean that you’ll win every time. Sometimes, you’ll fall short. Winston Churchill said, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

Think of Howard Schulz. He was turned down by banks over 200 times before someone said yes to Starbucks. Or, Thomas Edison…he failed over 1,000 times before he got the electric light bulb right. Walt Disney was turned down over 300 times, but his enthusiastic and his persistent approach has given us Disneyland - the Happiest Place on Earth! 

It was enthusiasm for what they believed in that led to success.

Enthusiasm Defined

The Cambridge dictionary defines enthusiasm as “a ​feeling of ​energetic ​interest in something and a ​desire to be ​involved in it”. 

So, it is a feeling, it’s energy, it’s interest, it’s desire, and it’s involvement. Success can’t help but follow when you have feelings about something or someone with energy, interest, desire, and involvement. 

Charles Schwab says that “a person can succeed at anything for which he or she has unlimited enthusiasm”. What do you have in your life today that you are grateful for and that you can be enthusiastic about?

At this moment, I’m grateful to have you listening today, and I’m enthusiastic about The Standing O Show being able to help and inspire you.

Final Thoughts About Enthusiasm

As I think more about this topic, it’s such a great feeling to show in your life because it means that you are focused on something of value. With enthusiasm, you have this energy and desire to be involved with a goal, or an experience, or a relationship, or in creating something of value.

Another thing about enthusiasm is that other people love to be around it!  It's contagious. Chris Martin, from Coldplay, said, “We rely more on enthusiasm than actual skill. Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically and people will like it more.”

The last thing I’ll say about our topic, on this Mindset Monday, is that enthusiasm is fun! It is the bridge to passion, and it’s easy to be enthusiastic about something that you’re passionate about! That’s FUN!
