Studies shows that Black and Latino neighborhoods have more outdoor advertising space than white neighborhoods and these spaces disproportionately market alcohol, tobacco and the least of healthy foods. Lacking access to healthier foods and also lacking knowledge about what foods are in fact healthier, the poor are easy prey to the junk food industry and food chains who see these communities as markets they can readily exploit.
