Strength and conditioning specialist at High Performance New Zealand, Nicolai Morris joins Mark for the first episode of 2020. Today we focus on the use of social media in the fitness industry, the stakeholders it affects (athletes, coaches, researchers), and how we can use it to create a strong progressive community of exercise science individuals all over the world. The second topic revolves around women in the industry and they're underrepresentation in positions that matter.
Nicolai is a champion of women holding the positions they deserve, as we are here at Train Smarter with Science. Mark and Nic both agree during the show that a coach should be chosen because they’re a good fit, not because they’re buddies with an existing member of an organisation. We’re heading in the right direction as an industry, and it was refreshing to hear some great names who were highlighted as both Nicolai’s and Mark’s professional inspirations. Great women who have helped develop and nurture both Nic and Mark as they progress in their careers.
If you’re heading to a conference and see Nicolai’s name on the schedule, make sure to reserve a seat and listen to what she has to say, it’ll be worth it!
