“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” -- Napoleon Hill

I think people should avoid airing their dirty laundry online. It doesn’t look good, gives people the impression you don’t have your act together, and probably even stinks a bit. Letting everyone in the world see your piles of problems will probably plant seeds in the minds of people that will grow to unfavorable opinions about you.

For example, let’s say you need to hire a lawyer. For the past year, you’ve connected and engaged with two lawyers on social. Both seem to be relatively smart and enjoy helping others on the various platforms. From their posts, pictures and videos, they both appear to be family oriented people and active in your local community. They both seem qualified to help with your legal matter.

Now let’s also assume that every now and then, one of the lawyers shares a blog post about a personal challenge like a relationship, financial, medical or emotional problem that could very well affect his handling of your case.

You only have one chance to win your case. It’s a big deal to you. Maybe even a game changer for your business or life. All other things being equal, which lawyer are you going to hire?
