Kanak Tiwari and Nilesh Rajyadhaksha are the Project Coordinators of Master Plan Delhi, 2041 at NIUA. In this episode, 'Understanding the Future of Developing a Master Plan’, with Kanak Tiwari and Nilesh Rajyadhaksha, we explore and understand the process of developing a master plan for Delhi, 2041.

In the first part of the episode, we start the conversation by understanding the definition of the master plan in context with Delhi’s master plan. This is followed by a discussion on the number of Indian cities which cater to such kind of planning along with the components and thoughts are taken into account while developing a master plan. We further discuss the vision for Delhi at a 20 years horizon as well as the agenda while developing the master plan 2041. They also explain the strategic complexities based on Delhi-specific nuances, while baselining different agencies as well as engaging with communities on the ground. The discussion in the first part also looks into the major focus areas and the structure of MPD 2041, which came out as a result of the entire activity. Towards the end of the first episode, we talk about climate and environmental sustainability as one of the key areas along which were taken into account while developing the MPD 2041.
