The Momentum Replay Series replays our top episodes so that you have the chance to catch episodes you missed, and refresh on others. The idea is to support you more regularly as you take charge of 2023 (through whatever challenges may arise). Here's to health, wealth and wisdom on this heartfelt path of yours.

In this episode I interview the courageous and transformative Erin Matthews!

This episode is deliberately timely, as I know a lot of us are striving to be antiracist. Here, Erin creates a safe space for reflection and offers insights around how we can ‘un-freeze’ and move to action and conversation in alignment with our values. In fact, this is the mission behind her Living in Empathy group, a small group aimed at cultivating a space for white people to unpack their unconscious bias, practice courageous conversation, and engage in social justice action planning. In fact today you will even hear Erin describe micro and macro actions.

Further, Erin shares some wonderful tips on how People of Colour can practice self-care, given the ongoing racial trauma suffered (and highlights some special resources she has on Instagram just for you!).

What is covered in this episode:

>> How white people become frozen and the need for a safe space to become “unstuck”

>> Definition of racism and discussion of power structure imbalances and white supremacy

>> Learning to listen without defensiveness

>> What it means to be an anti racist

>> Reflecting on the role of non-malicious intent that can harm

>> Disparity in the education system

>> The struggle of emotional labour for Black persons and how to practice self-care

>> How to have conversations with children about race

>> What white fragility is and how it impacts on the messages received

>> Reflecting that once we see clearly we can do better and our ethical obligation to act

>> The need for a white people to have safe space to process and discover blind spots in the journey to allyship (such as the Living in Empathy Group)

>> Micro actions: what am I doing? Macro actions: how am I bettering society?
