Chel Hamilton is a hypnotherapist that’s here to help you deal with anxiety, stress, and low confidence so that you can live your best life. Chel walks you through a very short meditation so that you can take time for yourself no matter how busy you are and how crazy life is. I love that Chel does walk through it with you but along the way is also teaching you techniques that you can use if you prefer longer meditations or that you can keep returning to once you find which techniques work best for you. I also think it’s cool how Chel knows what you’re thinking and acknowledges it, like “I know this may be getting annoying but hang in there,” because it makes me feel like she’s been through the learning phase and knows where I’m at. Episodes average twelve minutes in length.

If you’re looking to make meditation a daily practice, this is the perfect place for a little encouragement and guidance along the way. Mary Meckley isn’t going to walk through a meditation with you, she is going to daily give you something to focus on as you meditate and show you a new way to use meditation to work on your confidence or stress or a host of other things. I feel like this is a great intro to your meditative space, so once you know the practices you like to use, this gives you a goal to focus those practices toward. Episodes average fourteen minutes in length.

Rebel Meditation with Lauren Bear: Imperfect and unpolished guided meditations. I promise these meditations will be flawed, of mediocre sound quality, and the real deal. I've studied and taught meditation for a really long time. In the West, we like to ask a lot of questions, we want to understand everything. Talking about meditation isn't meditation. Learning about meditation, isn't meditation. DOING meditation is meditation; even when it doesn't feel like they advertise in shiny magazines. For the form of meditation that is the basis of this podcast, doing short meditations often is the way to go. So that's what I'm offering you. If you want to learn more, or to go deeper, go to my website and let me know. Or sign up for my newsletter. In time, I'll expand my offerings. (laurenbear dot com) I'm an eccentric and wild woman who loves witchy things. I'm also a Feng Shui Master. I really enjoy doing Space Clearings for myself and for clients. Meditation is my favorite medicine, it's like massage for the mind.

Lauren Bear promises in the description of her podcast that “these meditations will be flawed, of mediocre sound quality, and the real deal” and I must say she doesn’t disappoint. I love the short form and the fact that she provides really concrete images to latch onto as she calls for introspection, like imagining your life as a series of roots spreading out farther and farther over time. She still calls for bodily awareness and doesn’t leave you on your own for long, though she does allow for moments of silence in which to search your own mind. Episodes average eight minutes in length.

This is for folks who like all sorts of fitness routines who also want to incorporate meditation into their routine. I like how honest Phil is as he walks you through different kinds of meditative practices from great religious and spiritual leaders around the world and across time. He will lead you in mantras at times and explain what they mean so that you can repeat them in English and hold on to the meaning as you meditate, or ask you to focus on your death and explain to you how he imagines his own. The episodes begin with a type of lesson so that you understand what he is about to lead you to do, and then he walks you through the meditation itself. Episodes average twelve minutes in length.

“Tara Brach, Ph.D is an internationally known meditation teacher and author of bestselling Radical Acceptance and True Refuge,” and her podcast is here to bring all of her wisdom and learning to you. She has two types of episodes. The first are guided meditations, which I like because she never has really extended periods of silence (it helps me stay focused that she pops in with instructions or reminders). The second are talks that help you think through your state of mind, your habits, and how you handle other people in ways that are practical and depend on self-examination to bring you closer to a balanced and better life. The two kinds of episodes together really bring about a great balance of learning and practice. Episodes average forty minutes in length.

In contrast to the very short episodes that work well for people on the go, Jesse & Jeane Stern offer half hour guided meditations for people who have more time to set aside to the practice. The show uses “binaural beats, mindfulness, and 20+ years experience in the Healing Arts” to help you make the improvements you’ve been wanting to make in your life. Working to pinpoint the things you’re looking to improve, The Meditation Podcast works to create a space for personal reflection and discovery as you work to create the person you want to be. I appreciate the guided introspection the show offers and the focus on your actions and feelings to understand what needs correction. Episodes average twenty-seven minutes in length.

This podcast walk you through a meditation, but with a unique focus. Every Wednesday, a well-known meditation instructor from New York (or near there) comes to the Rubin Museum of Art and leads a meditation session. The class begins with a lesson on one or two of the pieces in the museum which acts as the focus of the meditation. I love the way this gives something physical to keep in mind and an interesting history to learn along the way. Plus, the show gives you the chance to sample a lot of great teachers as you work your way through the weekly episodes, which is a fun bonus. Episodes average thirty-four minutes in length.

This is a wonderfully sleepy podcast that walks you right up to unconsciousness with an expert plan. Offering a variety of background noise or music choices, there’s almost definitely exactly what you need to doze off. I really like that, if I do stay awake through the entire episode (which is highly unlikely), I have still had a productive meditation session that clears my mind and allows for introspection. But honestly, the chances of me staying awake are very slim, as the hosts voice melds perfectly with the background noise to create a perfectly calm headspace in which to drift off. Episodes average twenty-three minutes.

This is a podcast to teach you about mindfulness, about awareness, and about what it takes to expand your mind. Raghu Markus brings on tons of wonderful people — authors, psycho-therapists, consultants, teachers, and masters of various meditation techniques — on for interviews so that you can learn from their stories, their studies, and their own life-long discovery. I love that these are people who have spent their lives learning about mindfulness and have found ways to practically live mindfully and are now sharing their knowledge. This is a show about learning together to become who you want to be. Episodes average one hour in length.

It’s one thing to want to live mindfully, it’s an entirely other thing to know how to do it. At some point you run up against questions like “can mushrooms heal me?” or “how do I end a panic attack?” or “how do I master my breathing to help me in all areas of life?” Just continuing to walk through meditative practices probably won’t answer those questions, and there are way more books on wellness and mindfulness than anyone could ever read. And that’s where Aditya Jaykumar comes in to play. On My Seven Chakras, Jaykumar interviews top authors and experts from every corner of mindfulness so that you can answer all the questions you’ve had rolling around in your head. I love the wide breadth of questions answered and the way Jaykumar keeps these experts focused on answering the question while still keeping things conversational. Episodes average around one hour in length.

Dan Harris is a fidgety, skeptical ABC newsman who had a panic attack live on Good Morning America, which led him to something he always thought was ridiculous: meditation. He wrote the bestselling book, "10% Happier," started an app -- "10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics" -- and now, in this podcast, Dan talks with smart people about whether there's anything beyond 10%. Basically, here's what this podcast is obsessed with: Can you be an ambitious person and still strive for enlightenment (whatever that means)? New episodes every Wednesday morning.

When Dan Harris, an ABC newsman, had a panic attack on air, he was shocked to find that the thing that ended up helping was meditation. That discovery led to his bestselling book, 10% Happier, and the subsequent podcast with the same name. On the show, Dan interviews smart people about all things mindfulness and wellness so that they can share their knowledge and experience with you. From parenting to consciousness to death to depression, Dan is here to discuss everything you could want to know and goes another step further by offering an app with even more resources for those increasing mindfulness. Episodes average around one hour in length.

Bruce Langford is here to “Increase your calm, focus and happiness through mindfulness & meditation” by talking to people from all walks of life. I love that Langford invites the listeners in to the Mindful Tribe like it is a family and then talks with the guests with that same tone. It is obvious that the purpose here is to learn and grow together, and both the interview format and the comfortable happiness of the show really lend themselves to that goal. I love that there are so many interviews to choose from because I can pick which topics interest me and still have tons of content to choose from. Episodes average thirty-four minutes in length.
