I'm Osirah the host of the FTD Podcast. My purpose is to help those suffering from mental illness to understand, embrace and honour the suffocating darkness that surrounds them instead of trying to escape. Topics covered: Developmental Trauma, Child Abuse and Neglect, CPTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Dissociation, Addiction, Chronic Disease, Stress, the Nervous System, Mind Body, Suicide, Self Love, Codependency, Narcissistic Abuse, Spirituality, and general Emotional Health. My philosophy is different from most. Currently there is an unhealthy over-focus on the mind; trying to force ourselves to change our thoughts, control our behaviour and control emotions. There is also currently another unbalanced approach using spirituality and positivity to control emotions and transcend the 'negative'.These approaches are unbalanced. They are born out of a fear. Fear of our own human nature, our own emotions, our own instincts. They devalue the human body. Both approaches are forms of control bred out of this fear. My approach is to embrace the feelings, sensations, memories, emotions that we fear most. To process and discharge them. To no longer fear the 'negative'. To become embodied in the present moment. To value all things, to embrace positivity with negativity. To have a healthy ambivalence towards life. To no longer try to escape the human experience. Only by understanding and going through the darkness will you be free.
