Wolverine is my favorite superhero. So when I saw this I dove right in. And started me on podcast journey. The first season was great and so was the second. Patiently waiting for more.
Good story, good voice acting. It was little hard to follow sometimes.
One of my favourite podcasts. They somehow managed to make two consistently good seasons.
I made the mistake of downloading season 2 first. The first episode did not make much sense. I discovered on Wikipedia that there's a season 1.SEASON 1 - 4 StarsTook a few episodes for me to get into the show.Despite the title, the detectives were the star of this season. It's refreshing to follow a story about detectives who were actually competent at their job.The voice acting and production were good.SEASON 2 - 3.5 StarsThe story is now narrated by multiple characters. It's the stock standard Wolverine's story.
Blockbuster movie fan or not, Marvel's Wolverine makes it near impossible for the listener to resist binging the trials of the most human superhuman. A gritty dive into the underdog stories of a menacing small town (S1) and the dark Louisiana bayou (S2). Magnificently scripted, acted, scored and executed by the epic myth creators of our time.
This surprised me because I was not expecting to love it so much. The characters and the story are very engaging. Please listen.
(Season 1) Great take on Wolverine from the POV of detectives searching clues in an Alaskan town. Wolverine is treated like a background cryptid force that people only talk about.
Acting, writing, and audio production are top-notch- even if a few plot points in S1 are predictable, others AREN'T. Very atmospheric, grounded, especially for something about mutants. Only real knock is the ad breaks that are still announced, when no ad is played (anymore). It's easy enough to replace the audio file, take that non-break out, and then NOT break the tension and grip the episodes in S2 have.
Amazing! good story, good immersion!Starts out a little slow and not feeling like a comic at first but isn't bad. gegs into the action Soo after! binged both seasons in 2 days and eagerly awaiting more!Hope they also launch other podcasts! I'd binge them all.
I´m not one for big action movies. But when I listen to Wolverine: The Long Night it´s a totally different story! This show is just in a different league.
Blew me out of the water how good it actually was. Was *not* expecting a Marvel podcast to be this damn good.
Engaging and thrilling, never a full episode, extremely well written. As a Marvel fan I always love to tune into in depth character stories and this is soooo satisfying!
Fantastic two-season story that's filled with twists and turns and plenty of fun along the way. It's part thriller, part detective story, and part action movie -- well, podcast, anyway. It evokes the radio programs of old, like if Gunsmoke was about mutants. And it touches on some societal problems that we're still dealing with without getting preachy about it. Great podcast.
New Wolverine story. Pretty cool, holds your attention.
The writing is amazing, the voice acting flawless, and the audio effects super cool. Really enjoyed the first season, and the second season was even better! Hope they continue this series!
If you love the Marvel Universe when it goes down and dirty and gets into what it's like on the ground, when one man goes on a quest for his lost love in the gritty world of fishing boats of Alaska and the Louisana bayou - this is your podcast. Enjoy it!
Fantastic all around. It feels almost like an investigatory true-crime case and its a great way of introducing Wolverine and the supernatural world in which he lives.
Voice Acting: AStoryline: A for S1 & A- for S2Production: ASound Quality: A-Special Effects: B+Cost is the theme for the Wolverine and the listener. For Wolverine, having escaped from the Sentinels, it's the guilt. When he was under the thrall of the Sentinels, he knows that he killed and destroyed for the Sentinels. He just can't remember exactly what he did. However, if his nightmares are any indications, the memories are coming back.In season 1, we find Logan hiding as far away as he can get (Alaska). However, girls have been killed recently by being clawed to death in tow. Is it a bear? Is it Logan? Federal Investigators have been sent to find out. I really enjoyed season 1. Though the podcast is about Wolverine, you hear very little from Wolverine. It's like the Dr. Who episode "Blink". Its one of the best episodes of Dr. Who even though Dr. Who only plays a small part in the story. Wolverine is the reason why everyone, including the listener, is there but the podcast spends most of its time with the denizens of the town, the Federal agents and the mystery itself. For me, it was a welcome change from the more Wolverine centric stories. But don't worry, season 2 builds on what we learned in season 1 but Wolverine is front and center. We also get to hear from some other mutants that are familiar to anyone that follows the X-men through the movies, animated series or comics. For the listener, there are two costs. To really appreciate the podcast, one has to be familiar with the X-men canon, at least through the story of the Sentinels, to fully appreciate it. The second cost is you have to pay at least 1 month of subscription fee of $4.99 (unless you haven't used up the free trial. I used mine for EOS10). Is it worth it? For two seasons which its ~7 hours of listening pleasure, to me it was worth it.
If you didn't think Marvel's universe would work in an audio drama format, think again. Their telling of these Wolverine stories has found it's very own atmosphere, which draws you in, and won't let go.
