This enhanced podcast contains audio clips and visual images illustrating Tibetan spelling and pronunciation in the traditional Jor Lok system. Use in conjunction with classroom instruction or textbook study to master the rules of Tibetan spelling, pronunciation, and orthography. Developed by Sara L. McClintock in collaboration with Sherpa Rinpoche, John D. Dunne, Maimoon Nasim, Christian Hackett, Jose Rodriguez, and Johnny Waggener. Institutional support provided by the South Asian Language Resource Center at the University of Chicago, the Language Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Emory College Language Center at Emory University. The Basic Tibetan Reading Practice files were developed and recorded by Tsepak Rigzin, adjunct Tibetan language instructor at Emory and the scholar-in-residence and official translator for the Drepung Loseling Monastery. He received his traditional Buddhist training from the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, his M.A. and B.A. from Punjab University, and his B.Ed. from Annamalai University, India. Mr. Rigzin currently teaches Tibetan language at Emory University. The Basic Tibetan Reading Practice is meant to be used with the accompanying PDF.
