  1. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, so if you really focus on that, first, then people will listen to your messageMarketing is about bringing extreme value. You need to jump at opportunities, say "Yes" more to stuff, even if you're not comfortable at the time.If you're in business, or you're trying to build a community, and it's not something you're passionate about, you're going to fail.If you're committed to excellence, you're committed to doing this consistently regardless of the evidence that you got results there. All that matters is that we're focused on trying to share and give value to help people improve their lives, and make it better.Nature can replicate how you need to build your business. Think about growth. If you're focused on growth, how do you grow? You can't throw a seed and then expect it to give you results. You have to water it, you have to give it time, you have to be patient. The ultimate growth act is patience.A lot of things that I do are because I'm trying to test and trying new things too.I feel my calling is to help entrepreneurs be in control of their marketing span, to skill themselves and be an advocate for the business owners, so they know how to build their businesses. An Arabic quote that I love, says, "Dig a well before you're thirsty." So, my saying is, build an audience before you need it.If you really think about not just communities as being a community, think of it as also being individual channels, and people react and interact in these different channels in very different ways.Think of every social channel as a different soil type, and each soil type is in different areas, where rain falls differently, and things grow differently.Give yourself a break from trying to put too much pressure on yourself. That's probably one of the biggest things that I would see what prevents people from doing a live video course, is they're too hard on themselves because they don't believe that they have a voice.Don't play small. Think of it like this, what would you do, if you were 10X the size of the company you are right now? Think big and be honest to yourself. My big superpower is meditation. I'm trying to put myself in the mindset of going, "How can I ask the Universe to give me the most creative, most sharp-minded, interesting ideas, either for creative design, or creative thinking, or for marketing.Have a routine that puts you in a state of mind, whether it's a music song you play or something you want to read to remind yourself, do something. Those are the things that make you feel have that sort of confidence going right into it.As long as I'm congruent with my values, I feel fulfillment. On this episode of Mindset Mashup, we are talking with Scott Martin about the importance of building a community, the importance of having patience, the importance of thinking long term and really nurturing the seeds that you plant and fostering a personalized one-on-one relationship, where you think bigger.Scott Martin is a serial entrepreneur and badass marketing executive strategist, of over 25 years in digital direct, social content production and so much more. Everything that Scott does really comes from his heart.Scott has built up these amazing communities, in social media, whether it be Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest. He shares some of that here in this conversation. He has recently launched a podcast called, "The Groundswell Marketing Podcast" where he shares insights from top industry leaders that helps marketers and entrepreneurs navigate the future and helps them build sustainable programs that are positively impacting the world. Some Questions I Ask:What do you think the answer is to how do you get people to change something that's disrupting patterns or the ways that they've been? [13:31]How many communities do you have and across which platforms? [15:06]Do you do this yourself, or do you have a team that's doing this? [28:00]What are some of those rituals and routines that you've implemented in your life recently, that's making an impact? [53:15]How do you define fulfillment? [01:04:07]What are currently, your top three values? [01:05:16]In This Episode, You Will Learn:•   What is Scott’s book about [28:00]•   How Tony Robbins influenced Scott [37:00]•   Why experimenting with new things is good for you [41:00]•   What’s special about Pinterest [44:30]•   How can you put yourself in a good mindset [54:33]•   Plus much more!Resource links:Personal:Main Personal- www.Scott.ecoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ScottMartin.org/Instagram: www.instagram.com/scottmartin_org Groundswell:Web- www.Groundswell.MarketingPod- www.Groundswell.FMLinkedin- www.Groundswell.inInstagram- www.instagram.com/Groundswell.MarketingFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Groundswell.marketing/ Some of the Communities Scott’s Created:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/SurfArt/https://www.facebook.com/groups/YogaSurfCamps/https://www.facebook.com/groups/Yogi.eco/https://www.facebook.com/groups/Marketer.eco/https://www.facebook.com/groups/Heliskiing.Catskiing/https://www.facebook.com/groups/SurfingCanada/Facebook Live Challenge: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2119048648130266/?ref=bookmarks See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  4. In this episode we talk about Trust as the New Currency with Don Peppers with co-author of "Extreme Trust" and leading marketing expert on the future of customer experiences. Not so long ago, being reasonably trustworthy was good enough. But soon only the extremely trustworthy will thrive. Today's modern customer experience where every action an organization takes can be exposed and critiqued in real time. Customers have access to so many instant options to share their dissatisfaction  that the bar for trustworthiness is pushed higher than ever and continues to rise. Don argues that the only sane response to these rising levels of transparency is to protect the interests of customers proactively-even if that requires spending extra money in the short run to preserve your brand reputation in the long run. The payoff of generating extreme trust will be worth it. With a wealth of fascinating research as well as practical applications, this book will show you how to earn - and keep - the extreme trust of everyone your company interacts with. Don Peppers is recognized as a global authority on marketing and business competition. His first book, The One to One Future, written with Martha Rogers in 1993, is widely credited with having launched the CRM revolution. Research by SatMetrix in 2015 ranked Don and Martha as the world’s #1 most influential authorities on customer experience management issues. A genuine thought leader, Don was listed by The Times of London as one of the “Top 50 Business Brains,' while Accenture named him one of the “Top 100 Business Intellectuals,” and the UK’s Chartered Institute for Marketing called him one of the 50 “most influential thinkers in marketing and business today.” In 2013 the Direct Marketing Association (US) inducted him into its Hall of Fame. Don has authored or co-authored a legacy of international business best-sellers that have collectively sold over a million copies in 18 languages: • Customer Experience: What, How, and Why Now • Extreme Trust: Honesty as a Competitive Advantage (2012) • Managing Customer Relationships (2011) • Rules to Break & Laws to Follow (2008) • Return on Customer (2005) • One to One B2B (2001) • The One to One Manager (1999) • The One to One Fieldbook (1999) • Enterprise One to One (1997) • Life’s a Pitch: Then You Buy (1995) • The One to One Future (1993) Don Peppers: CX Speakers  Podcast: Groundswell.fm Scott Martin: ScottMartin.org

My guest, Scott Martin has been a professional strategic marketer for as long as he can remember. He’s worked for big agencies, startups, and founded multiple growth marketing and content-related businesses. He has a passion for the the outdoor and adventure space,  especially if it involves being in the backcountry with his snowboard or near a big swell with a surfboard, and he’s largely built his businesses with those types of clients in mind. He’s been to countless conferences, seminars, and summits - met and learned from huge household names, and read and travelled constantly - all in the name of optimizing his mindset, perspective, and skill set.  In this episode in particular, Scott and I talk a lot about Tony Robbins, because at the time of recording we had literally just finished a 4 day event with Tony. Scott had been talking to me about this event for months, and I finally decided what the hell, I’ll give it a try. Let’s just say, I was pleasantly surprised. Regardless of whether you have either a good or bad connotation of Tony, all I ask is that you keep an open mind to what we talk about, and more broadly to Tony’s approach if you decide to research him.  No matter how whacky or out there it may seem my bet is that you might just get something profound from it.  The Adventurepreneur Playbook Podcast reveals the fears, habits, hacks, and mindset of big-name and up-and-coming entrepreneurs who have built their passions into startups, small businesses, lifestyles, or personal brands. Adventurepreneurs are thrill seekers, explorers, fun hogs, thought leaders, influencers, and lifestyle designers. They are the people brave enough to not let traditional definitions of success confine them. They are often irreverent misfits and risk takers, living life on their own terms. This podcast dissects the success formulas of such people, who make a living as activists, professional athletes, startup founders, travelers, non-profit leaders, film-makers, artists, outside the box thinkers, and non-conformists. This is a show created for the adventure community and those looking to live an epic life. Whether you want to learn the tricks of the trade, be inspired, have a good laugh, be more productive, or start living the life you always wanted, The Adventurepreneur Playbook can and will help you kick ass at life. www.Groundswell.fm www.ScottMartin.org Connect with Scott on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottadammartin

  28. Today on the show we’ll be talking a lot about mindset, techniques for optimizing your life, and marketing, marketing, marketing. He is the founder of Groundswell Marketing, and co-founder of Laundromat Studios - a content creation company, and Swellness which is a surf inspired fitness and wellness company.    Scott has spent the last year on a pilgrimage of sorts. Through a couple of eye-opening and life changing experiences, he decided to double down and invest in himself. Last thing before we get started, I want to give a shout to one of my listeners Zach LaPerierre, who’s an adventurepreneur that makes these beautiful wooden bowls from salvaged old growth trees, in the Tongass Rainforest in Sitka, AK. Zach has this really cool lifestyle and an amazing adventure story around his business, and when he reached out to me, I just loved his story. We got talking and he mentioned he thinks a lot about marketing, and how to improve his efforts. Well Zach, hopefully you get something out of this episode on marketing, and if I can help with anything else, happy to do it man.   Show Resources: Scott's Website Scott's Instagram Swellness Tony Robbins  Gary Vaynerchuk
